Deep Female Voices (Braxton, Cyrus, Leander, Chapman etc)

Zarah Leander and Toni Braxton are my favourite voices on this list. I had never hear Zarah before. Her voice is so unique. I also have to mention that Toni is a contralto. People keep getting vocal range and voice type confused.

Some of these women are not true contralos. Toni Braxton is a mezzo--and if you're confused by that, A LOT of women have stong low ranges. Sure, the technical range for mezzos is down to a G--REMEMBER, THAT MEANS THE NOTE CAN BE BELTED OVER A FULL ORCHESTRA. True contraltos sound almost like tenors.

You should add the likes of Fiona Apple, Amy Winehouse perhaps, Nina Simone, India Arie, Galina Baranova, etc. I'm not sure about Miley Cyrus really a deep contralto, and she definitely doesn't have a husky voice in my opinion.

lisa marie presley is another artist with a beautiful deep contralto voice, many people underestimate this type of voices cuz music now days is all about sopranos but i gotta say i love this unique and deep voices, they're really one of a kind not that common and beautiful

No way in hell does Toni have a 5 Octave range, c'mon! I would say 3, and I'm being generous. Her highest is A5 in head voice, and it is said her lowest is A2 (although there is no audio proof).

I've got one suggestion. I'm not sure if she's alive anymore, but I could be wrong. Her name is Sarah Vaughn, and I've been told she can hit a C2! I've heard her sing lower than an A2, but I think it was only to a G or maybe to an F.

a nice start! very diverse set of singers...zarah sounds like a male tenor. lowest of the bunch is braxton with at least a B2. Mariah Carey hits A2 at 2.25 in watch?v=Q2b9rx9YZxA (and B2 at 3.15).
