As far as a good engine for you, it all depends on how much money you can spend.
The Briggs 5HP Flathead has the most performance parts available of any small engine.Carbs, Cams, Billet Rods, Valve Springs, Stroker Cranks, just like Harleys!!!
You can find a good running 8HP on ebay or somewhere else if you want to stay safe.
Just make sure that you buy an engine with the same output shaft size so you can reuse your Centrifical Clutch. Most likely its a 3/4" Shaft, but it could be 5/8" Shaft.
