  • hello Willowing, thank you very much for giving me inspiration it really brigth my days, love your work.

I am planing to make a paint on wood for my best friend Jon, and I have a question, the colours you use for skin colour (rose, ocre salmon) are pastels or other kind of soluble...? and I am late for you June online class, when is the next one? thank you and have a nice day!

  • @lilianximena1 hi there! thanks for your lovely comment. :) i use watersoluble crayons by caran d'ache neocolor II. (have a search you'll find them). if you go to my website you'll be able to find out about the art classes i'm running, I also sell all my finished classes on DVD! :)

  • Hey! I have yet to do this BUT I'm gonna start uploading my own lesson videos too! I'm an artist as well. Any advice?

  • I fell in love w your art today! ;)

  • @alubina aww, thank YOU so much! :D x

  • did you created that character or u got it from some type or drawing

  • @101mangadrawing i created it myself. :)

  • Hi,

Just wondering, what do you use to make your initial drawing? Graphite, Sharpie, acrylic paint or something else? Thanks in advance.

  • @GreekVegetarianRecip hiya, i use simple graphite! :)

  • @willowing Thanks!

  • Hi Tam, guess who? Fatima34me is me, lol Iris Perez. I already know how you teach, lol. Hugs, Iris

  • i love your vidoes and art, i was interested in drawing faces like that, do you happen to know what style that is? Along with realistic drawings, i want to brance off and try another style of drawings, and this one i think i want to give a shot, do you know where i could possible see more examples of this type of drawings style? (btw i really do like your shading style :D )

  • @owlhoothootowl hiya, i tend to refer to them as 'stylised faces' as they are not realistic yet i don't think the style has a specific name. :) hope that helps. x

  • Hi Tam: I am interested in taking some of your classes on face drawing. I have a question, are you're videos as fast as this tutorial. My problem with that would be that I am a beginner and I need something that is more to my pace. But I love you're are and it is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you

  • @fatima34me Tam's teaching videos are a lot more in depth and generally filmed in 'real time' not sped up, like this one. She's a really great teacher, perfect for beginners. Hope that helps :)

  • @fatima34me hi fatima! i must've missed your comment! i see that rho already responded though. my courses are in real time, i don't speed them up apart for only tiny bits. hope that helps! :)

  • Dear Tam,

    Your videos are wonderful!

I tried to make a portrait following you in this shading lesson, and it came pretty good.

Could you possibly tell me what kind of fixative do you use on mixed techniques like this one? For acrylics or for watercolours?

    Thank you.

    Ciao. Luca

  • thank you luca! not sure what you mean by 'fixative'? are you referring to gel medium? if that is the case, i use golden gel medium! :) x

  • Wow, yay:-) I LOVE LOVE LOVE your art and videos and you in general, and I've also been wondering how you do your faces to make them so stunning and then stumbled upon this vid! AND I ordered some Caran d'ache crayon thingumybobbies and should receive them today or tomorrow. . .

OMG! Literally as I wrote that the postman came to the door with them! Unbelievable but totally true! SoOo happy now, will definately be trying out your techniques:) thank you for your lovelyness:-D xx

  • thanks so much for your happy comment! glad the crayons arrived! hope you're having fun with them! love, tam x

  • Thank you so much this helped, your amazing , P.s where can you get the white paint thingy.(sry idk the name) :$

  • do you mean acrylics paint? you can order it online or get it from any major art store! x

  • I'm wondering what kind of paper you use?

It seems to take water very well, but also be very smooth.

  • in this video i used: extra smooth, hot pressed, grain satine watercolour paper (the langton) by daler rowney

  • i love using pensil! i always thought it was like cheating, but it makes it look so good, right? thanks for posting this! i love your style and spirit, as well as the art :)

  • thank you!! :)

  • Fantastic! Something I have always needed help with. Would you mind giving me a URL to those water soluble crayons you have? I can't find them. I know there are others out there, but since I know these work well for you, I'd like to give them a try. Do they work like oil paints? I have tried using the brush against them like you do, and it's not a good situation ;) Do you water the brush before putting the brush to the stick?

  • hi! sorry for late reply - youtube doesn't allow urls in the comments but if you search for: neocolor watersoluble crayons by caran d'ache you will find them. good luck!

  • I love the way you did the eyes! You should do more videos on that.

  • thank you! i shall do so in the future! x

  • Okay...Thanks are in order. I'm an art student; have been for a few years now. And I have never. Never gotten the concept of watercolors. I was given a huge tin of neocolor II's when I won an art show two years ago...and they have been sitting in my desk getting dusty. Until I saw this. And I finally was able to creat something half-way decent!! I'm going to take some pictures and send them to you via e-mail. If you're interested, that is. Thank you so much for your help!!!

  • thank you angel! xoox

  • youre welcome :)

  • Looks a lot like Suzi Blu's work... and her classes. A lot.

  • ha, on this one i usually get the 'this looks like audrey kawasaki' a lot, not suzi. :-) yes, i love suzi's work, as i like tasha's lori earleys, kawasaki's and many more, you will find similarities in our work, as you find similarities between the work of rembrandt and frans hals'. :-) it requires a fine eye to notice the differences. ;)

  • You're so talented! The drawing is terrific, would love to know more details regarding the art classes. Pls keep me posted. Best wishes, Madejas

  • Nice video! Your faces are "awesome" and thanks for sharing your secret to face shading. I wish you every success in your online instruction.
