Wow, do I remember this song for my younger years! What a great song, and what a great message for today's time when we really need to "Keep our minds on highter things". God bless for posting!
I think its intentionally enigmatic to let each person make of it what they will. For me the triangle may represent the Holy Trinity; the flowers within the triangle represent the blissful beauty of inner purity; the column could be a symbol of lasting strength and wisdom. By the way, be sure to listen to Margaret in the "Margaret Becker in Malawi" video. The woman she is speaking about is a picture of beauty, strength and hope. I close my eyes and repent of my complaints when I think of her.
Margaret has a fantastic voice! Keep My Mind and Deep Calling Deep are the reasons I started listening to Christian music. Awesome song from an awesome artist!
Gotta dig through some tapes; but I remember having a clip of Margaret Becker performing "Stay Close to Me" from the Immigrant's Daughter album on the 700 Club in '90; as well as giving her testimony.
I was blessed to meet her backstage before her "Simple House" concert in Tallahassee (early 90's). My college roommate was the morning announcer at WCVC so she got me backstage. I still have my laminated press pass... somewhere. I don't recall exactly what was said during our meeting, but I think I told MB how profoundly moved I was by "Stay Close to Me". She was very gracious & even gave me a quick hug. The concert was awesome! That evening remains one of the highlights of my college years.
Oops! I just remembered it was "Just Come In" (not "Stay Close to Me") that I told her I found so moving. It took me a long time to be able to listen to that song without crying.
Music aside, Maggie B's big hair and red lipstick ought to give it away that this is an 80's song. LOL That was a really "in" look twenty-something years ago, I'm sorry to say. ;-) But I think the lyrics to this song are timeless. :-)
DOH! And I even *own* the CD!! Not only that, but I bought it just for this song, plus "Say the Name". Well, that'll teach me to check my facts first. ;) Thanks for the correction. :)
@kareninflorida I think CCM is typically about 5-7 years behind "mainstream" culture, so you're accurate to call this an 80s cultural artifact. ;) Still a good song, though.

Whats with the triangle and the pillar?
tubbyandme 3 years ago
I don't know, but one possibility -
pillar = I (kinda' looks like a capital letter "I")
trinagle = Greek delta - the math symbol for change
so (again, just a guess) "I change" ???

Song inspired by Colossians 3:2 - "Keep your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth."

Although not diong much recording anymore. She remains my favorite CCM female singer. Pretty too.

Music actually reminds me of something I'd expect to hear from the late 1980s (not a bad idea, and not that I'd know first-hand as I was a baby).

Actually, this song is from Soul, an album Margaret Becker released in 1993.

It would be lovely to find more of her earlier works. Anyone happened to know of where? Peace!
