WAS recently in a relationship that ABRUPTLY went south, dont know why how etc, everything seemed to be cool, nonetheless she's f%cking her boss, done met dude, befriended him, invited me over, all went out & had pizza one night with me, former b!tch, him & her neighbor that he screwed later that night... & then they do this... hurt for a few days but, tore my stomach up, oh well, chalk it up as a lesson learned, got caught slippin

  • I use to listen to this song in 1980 broadcasted by Cultura FM de Santos, Brazil.

  • rupert holmes is very much alive a friend of mine saw him perform back in july at a gay bar in california for got what city.said he did a great show.the place was a full house.

  • I never miss a chance to hit the like button when I visit this song!

  • A classic 70's tune. Everybody knows Escape, but if you know this you are really a 70's fan.

  • @bird80081 um...this is from the 80's...

  • Like a time machine. I just shifted 30 years.

  • my mistake i heard wrong bout him passing on sorry

  • very talented singer heard he passed what a shame very good song this song is awsome wow

  • @MrJameswildcat when did he pass?

  • @MrJameswildcat I don't know who you're having conversations with about Rupert Holmes, or where your friends are getting their information, but he's not dead.

  • lmt61251 rupert is responsible for the very popular pina colada song....

  • Receding hair line, tinted coke-bottle glasses, and the unkempt beard- God, he really knows how to WEAR that CARDIGAN SWEATER!!

  • I was born in 1974, a student in the 90s but ever since living for the 70s. Like most music, it comes back 20 years later and since re-discoving the sweet 70s of my childhood, can sind no music that compares to it today. Sorry but in my opinion and especially since the new millenium, music is more about money than talent and its such a disappointment. Remakes of old classic films like Herbie, the Muppets, etc just don't cut it, just my opinion..

  • watch with good quality /watch?v=fRE0QyxVdY8

  • Rupert Holmes - tremendous talent. Wrote more songs that were hits (for others) than most know about. His performances of some of them himself are great.

  • @lmt61251 Could you tell me some of the songs Holmes wrote? I'd love to hear them.

  • In my opinion, this is why music today sucks balls. Someone like this would never be popular today.....and why?????? We are deprived of good music, because the powers that be think we all want to see fancy cars, nice asses and dancing around instead of good musicians. I'm just sick of it all.

  • @gornhorror If you were around then, you may be forgetting Star Search, Denny Terrio's Dance Fever, and the Solid Gold Dancers, (and how unbelievably shitty they all were.)

  • @rollomaughfling Rupert Holmes was queer for John Holmes..they both died from Aids related illness

  • @IfYouThinkItsButter O K you little 12 year old shit stain!...what do u do? ..just go to all these cool 70s soft rock songs and say negative shit? get a life....

  • @whitewitchoz the Holmes brothers died from Aids...are you afraid that you have it too?

  • @IfYouThinkItsButter They're not even related...do you have shit for brains....did you catch AIDS when you were a prison bitch.....

  • @whitewitchoz they were half brothers fucknuts...both dead from Aids just like your daddy and yer fat mama.

  • @IfYouThinkItsButter Parents should keep their stupid brats from commenting on Youtube !

  • @gornhorror He wouldn't be popular today, because of the big glasses and beard and his original music. The music industry for the most part only seems interested in producing homogenized crap.

  • @Parkinish i agree with your points, and yet this guy is a fantastic artist. If you don't have a rap song seemingly there's no place for you in the music industry today. Such a pity all those rap artists do if rock back and forth and talk and that's suppose to be music, all we have today is a few music stations playing this kind of music and the memories

  • @gornhorror Well told. Most of today's "music" sucks.

  • @gornhorror

That so true, but back in the day- music videos was not that important, you did not need to see the artist, the music sold itself. Its the opposite today... Its the looks, that is so sad.

  • @gornhorror ..........I agree

  • @gornhorror Me too, I'm sick of that crap also. Ruppert Holmes is an example of timeless, awesome music.

  • @gornhorror i agree.there's people out there that doesn't even know these great singers.

  • I think she left with HIM!

  • That's smoooooooth.

  • Back in 1980 we had Obama's mentor as president (Jimmy Carter) so the economy was a total wreck in '80, as it is now. This music was a desperately needed reprieve from reality back then. Under Obama music won't cut it... we need morphine.

  • Hmmmm ... a barbeque ... good beer ... and smooth 70s music just like Rupert Holmes. Can it get any better?

  • @hns123192 dont forget the pina calladas

  • @hns123192 ........Nothing is better than that...

  • nice song. i wonder is he still living

  • @zavienlove He sure is still living, I figured he was about 65. An oldie, but goodie...

  • hehehe rubert we got ya for free on you tube lol

  • oh snap, sancho left his cigs behind. slippin, son

  • this song makes me remenber my childhood in lima

  • aww man bring the 70's back, elephant dream i guess. i miss these TRUE ARTIST not todays fake ass top 40 hit maker with no real meaning.

  • corno? =)

  • love this song, something i would hear on a strange radio station in a motel while on a roadtrip

  • This was a great song during a great time for music.

  • cool : )

  • CORRECTION - sorry:

I'm surprised I'm not the only one that remembers this song! I was born Oct **1970**. I was 9 and even then I thought this was a self-deprecating whiner song. A man crying in his beer. However I liked his voice. He was the King of Corny, but he could sing and play instruments. "Do you like Piña Coladas?" hehehe. But hey, this guy had talent and style.

  • I'm surprised I'm not the only one that remembers this song! I was born Oct '71. I was 9 and even then I thought this was a self-deprecating whiner song. A man crying in his beer. However I liked his voice. He was the King of Corny, but he could sing and play instruments. "Do you like Piña Coladas?" hehehe. But hey, this guy had talent and style.

  • Rupert was SO HOT!!!!

  • haven't heard this song in 30 years

  • I like this, but I wish they had "the answering machine song", which is on the same album. The funniest song ever!!

Never mind, I just did a more thorough search & found it!

  • This song had just finished playing on the radio station I was listening to on the morning of 9/11/01. The DJ was distracted, told the audience the name of the song, couldn't remember the name of the artist, then announced the BAD news.........

  • don;t know what he looks like, don;t know who he is.........sssssssssssssssooooooooo fuckin true

  • 21 were friends of him !

  • Great classic !

  • his follow up to the Pina Coloda song, i remember this one also

  • Brothers are feeling this classic as well!!!!

  • Great song. So many mellow tunes in the late 70's and early 80's. It was a short musical era between the radical earlier 70's and what took over in the 80's, which was also very unique.

By the way, the blonde backup singer is so beautiful, very appealing. Wonder what she looks like today, 30 years later......

  • Looked him up on wikipedia, out of curiosity. Very interesting and accomplished man, far beyond his two big songs.

  • cool video yaaaa

  • cooooooool song.......my times.

  • I loved this song and the pina colada song. Need to hear more great tunes like this.

  • 21 people found out that their woman was having an affair with "him".

  • classic! magic!

  • LOVE IT!!! Reminds me of something that would be playing while the Charlie's Angels are about to take down a major drug lord hiding in a roller rink in San Francisco!!!!!

  • the female backup singer is more into the song than Rupert

  • @5pugmom hahhaaaaa!!!! I"m sitting here laughing....I read your comment and I'm watching, you're so right.....the girl is incredibly into it.....good observation, hahaha

  • I nearly about this one. I've got this on a 45. 15 or 16 when this came out. I love Youtube to see this stuff!. 977ClubFM the 89's Channel pulls this one out

  • Yeah, been a long time since I heard this one. We need a nice adult radio station around here.

  • @takemeback2 we do now takemeback2 it's called XM

  • I haven't heard this song in decades....I'm lovin' it. ...good beat and easy to dance to..

  • Great song........Have not heard it in years and years

  • es un tema paranoiko... el temor de la infedelidad... especialmente cuando la otra persona es importante,,,

  • So you don't want to own her, but she's yours? I think you're the one who wants it both ways, not her. Plus, you smoke! So she should dump you.

  • the guy at the back playing the Telecaster is kind of excited. Does he realized is playing a kind of ballad?. :)

  • Actually the better of his two big singles

  • pretty good

  • I play sax, but songs like this make me so love the bass guitar of the '70's and "80's!!

  • ....when there was melody in pop music.

  • I listened to this song on my Ktel cassette so many times that it actually broke! Thank goodness for YouTube because I'm still too cheap to get an Ipod, and also I refuse to part with my walkman :-)

  • 1980 was such a wonderful year. I was 15. Innocent times. I miss em.

  • @syxxgunner I respect your age and your experiences, but nothing like growing up in the 50's and 60's. Truly the golden age of American. Milk delivered to your door, no locked houses or cars. Dragging main street and playing basketball in city park until 1 am. No crime, no drugs, no gangs. Unbeatable era, of course, I lived in a small town in Kansas, not city.

  • Where's Rupert now? I was 18 yold when I heard this song in 1980..

  • @discomax74 Rupert Holmes died from Aids just like his brother John Holmes back in the 80's.

  • This guy always came out with some good, fun music! Of course the Escape song(The Pina Colada song) was the most enjoyable! Peace, BobbyK He was wacky and good and fun!

  • es como volver y volver forever

  • i was born in 1990, but really i love classical music and songs of Rupert Holmes are my favorite, i love him singing nearsighted.. WOW! i should not wear my glass anymore LOL! and also this HIM

  • I was born in 1975 but I remind this song since, I guess, 1980, five years old, just quite enough, the song hit hard in my heart, the melody, the smooth voice, the "uhuhuhuh" , now I m 36 years old and I´m feeling exactly the same, Thank you Rupert Holmes!

  • A song with a story, not too common these days. Nice on Rupert old boy, what what.

  • Una de las mejores de todos los tiempos. Exactly music from spring/summer 1980. I was living in Vina del Mar, Chile. Buenos tiempos.

  • second comment by me on this: cheesy as hell but amazingly good at the same time ;)

  • muy buena song

  • A young Weird Al on Bass.

  • This reminds me of my teacher Judy at the Centro Cultural Sampedrano (Honduras), back in 1981!

  • me encanta es una de las mejores musicas.

  • me encanta

  • fu-k it;s another him again

  • I happened to play this in front of my 3 yr. old daughter and now she won't stop asking me to play "him, him, him." It's incredible, she heard it twice before she knew most of the words to it.

I guess she knows good music when she hears it!

  • Wow what happened to music like this

  • @jacritter70 I ask myself that very same question

  • I was born in 1971 and was only 3rd grade when this song was very popular, spring 1980. This would play in every roller rink, play on American Bandstand or Top of the Pops. MAN THOSE WERE FUN TIMES!

  • @sunnyblonde2118 I agree with you! I was born in 1971 too! Second grade in spring 1980! Good times indeed.

    Dawn

  • @10Dec1971 you sound like a pretty cool person! I was always happy when they played this song on the various radio stations. You seem to like and remember a lot of that old stuff! That is so awesome! SunnyBlonde2118

  • @sunnyblonde2118 Thank you. I am a cool person! ha ha.. I'd rather listen to the old stuff than stuff that's out there today!

  • @10Dec1971, I am totally with you on all of the old stuff! Now those were the days!

  • @sunnyblonde2118 You sound like a cool person too!

  • @sunnyblonde2118 GOT That RIGHT!!!! ^5

  • @sunnyblonde2118 as a fellow 1971 baby I agree with you :)

  • @sunnyblonde2118 Aw I love this song ,I just heard it awhile back .

  • @sunnyblonde2118 I was born in '70. I hear you, loud and clear!!! I love these old tunes. I remember being so very young and these songs were great and mysterious, being I was completely without experience. I remember listening and waiting. Now, I am listening and kinda know. Take Care.

  • Certainly my parents would have accepted this music than I accepting today's garbage. Long live the 70s and 80s music

  • bella, mi vengono i brividi...1982

  • I don't blame the chick he's singing to for finding another joy stick to pogo on....this singer is a fucking dweeb.

  • @issofunky vos sos el gran cerote de mierda. que putas sabes de musica analfabet de los oidos, creo que solo para oir pendejadas de otra mierda servis, no critiques alo bueno, pero se que no vales ni una porqueria

  • @issofunky Respect the Rupert!!!

  • I was always wondering who sang during the bridge - it was the lady backup singer, incredible

  • The '70's' - I feel so BLESSED to have grown up in THAT decade !!

  • @MegaDeansy Being a teen in the 70's was great! Everything, music,tv,movies, clothes,it all rocked! Today is just the opposite! It sucks!

  • Kathy iffin singing back up

  • does anyone know the names of the other band members in this video please.

  • Long live the 70s the best time to ever grow up in. and its cool music.

  • Rupert Holmes has awsome Talent!!! GREAT PIANO PLAYER!!!

  • Sounds like he figured out she's cheating!!! Cool lyrics.....I couldnt figure it out back then ..but now I can. How funny. Im in my 40's now..I was in elementary school when this came out...hahaha!!

  • One of my all time favourites. Bravo!

  • Talk about the height of whiny, liberal pissing and moaning woe-is-me crap. Maybe if this guy wasn't shacked up with his ass buddies smoking dope and crying about his girl, he'd actually be doing something with her. Take off the shades, put down the pipe, quit wetting the bed and be a man. The guy porking your bitch probably takes her out o dinner and goes to movies with her. Pathetic.

  • music before the 90's was great! this is one of the great ones!

  • Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!

  • a much better song than pina colada.

  • Though I have only traveled to California a few times for military training, this song somehow seems to capture that late '70s/early '80s California vibe. Anyone else agree?

  • @wyleehokie Oh yes totally, definitely sort of a west coast vibe.

  • @jamesdewer

I hear you. My exposure was either at Twentynine Palms, a bit in San Diego, then with the Army NG traveling up the coast (I believe on the 101) to Camp Roberts or Camp San Luis Obispo. Being from the East Coast, I was pretty blown away with the natural beauty of the coast. No wonder so many people want to live there.

  • grande e exelente cantor vale a pena ouvir.

  • Heard this song today while walking in the supermarket. Shopping was suddenly so much nicer.

  • El maestro Don Jose Jose la canta mucho mejor en Español

  • Pure dream. No more musics like this.

  • where ? i dont think so, he is real good and i like this song is a great melody from the 80's.

  • Even to this day Rupert Holmes singing style about relationships is light years ahead of today's singers !!! Totally awesome !!!!!

  • Rupert oh honey... SO DAMN SEXY WOO HOO!

  • EXISTE UNA VERSION EN FRANCES O ITALIANO MAS O MENOS DE LA MISMA EPOCA PERO CON UN GRUPO EUROPEO (CREO), ALGUIEN LA TIENE?

  • I LOST MANY A GIRLFRIEND THIS WAY.

  • ANOTHER reason cigarettes are bad for you... they give you away, little Miss Nooner...

  • Why is he sitting at a piano? There are no piano parts in the entire song
