1:40 "Pick three, and make sure you do them better than anyone else."
The first time I heard this, it just past through my ears and not taking any heed of it. A few months later, I realized my magic wasn't going anywhere. I was heading in a messed up direction without any goals. Now I know its significance.
@perfectvanish Shut up Shitwrapped asscock. How ever many videos you put your shit comment on, anyone won't visit your ugly website, you annoying dick.
from about 7:00 to 7:34 is just outstanding,i allways had that problem...now i almost dont.. one question does it really make that much of a difference if ur into the magic trick yourself or just do it while u look bored and unintrested, and how different is that from being myself?
I experienced that myself. At the beggining i was a little scared of failling in front of my audience and so i thought that the solution was to imitate other types of magic and other performances of magicians i saw on youtube and others, but once i adopted my own style i saw the difference. You got the benefit of being yourself and you certainly got more relaxed than by imitating others.
There you go Andyfieldmagic you fucking amatuer. You heard it from the pros, a pro knows how to 3 tricks amazingly, an amatuer learns loads of mediocre shit. Sucks for him to be told from the pros.
wow this really helped me when i perform magic i sometimes get nervous and when i get nervous my hands become as cold as ice lol but now im getting the hang of it
i had around 15 dvd tricks such as theory 11 and ellusionist illusions i forgot about almost all and leave only 4 tricks as my official illusions so i only focus on them and do them perfectly, my illusions are tagged by rich figurson, hovering, and 2 card illusions that i came with =]
A lot of the people here are saying they're "visual learners" which I have to disagree with, when Lee is talking about the "be yourself" part and not being like other magicians, books like Card College are the best way to go because when people watch DVD's they tend to perform it just like the teacher performs it, but with books your forced to put in some originality, books are the best way to go.
Well, I seriously am a visual learner, I've given books a great effort but fail everytime. When I was 8 years old I got my first magic book, I'm almost 18 now and I still don't understand the "Do as I do" trick in that book.
As a magician, we all have responsablilities, we all need to put some originality in our work. So if we watch DVDs, it's our job to put originality in it.
completely true, i am a really shy person and still i practice on my performance 1000000 times before performing live, cause you wana look profecional not unshure of you, once you trust on yourself they will 2
Everything is true here...and i agree with them to be yourself...i too hate it when i see someone "trying: to do magic..and they really do turn into a robot acting..."thing"
so learn things that reflect you...because all the tricks reflect you..and the 3 that you do better than anyone else..then those 3 you will be remembered by..and i know this by experience
ya like dan and dave said find a buddy to pratice magic on but it sucks cause no one else in my scholl or around that i know like magic so im stuck by self and it sucks
its not necesary to got a magician friend, do it with your best friend, i have like 4 friends that helps me out with my tricks, and well its good, obiusly the can keep a secret, just find that
I semi agree with the first statement Dave and Dan Buck said. "Get books from your library". I did this when I was young, but it didn't work out for me because 1. I'm a visual learner, and 2. The magic in books are beginner books. You do not have to start with magician books, but those books are and most of them stay at a beginner level. Not to mention most of them are children magic books. When adults to magic in the real world they are hardly or even not going to use those tricks.
A magician who came to our school long time ago SUCKED!!! He was a magician that repeated most of his tricks and got most of his tricks from children books. I can't believe he's still getting paid. IMO
Naw see I disagree with you on that. You said that most of the books at the library are beginner books, well this video is FOR beginners. Also you say that most of the tricks are children magic books, well that might be true BUT as a creative magician, you can take those tricks and change them up to fit your style and make it alittle more "grown up".
Also Dan and Dave also mentioned that the tricks that you find in a library might not be as powerful as the ones today, but it's all inspired.
Videos like this are what make Theory11 one of the biggest things in magic. They didn't have to do this video, or any of their other videos as a matter of fact. This is what sets theory11 apart from other magic manufacturers, and not just "another" online magic shop.
lee asher sounds confused..i think hes having a hard time choosing how many effects to learn..dan white advise is right on the money..thats why hes david blaine boy..go dan white go dan white...
hey dont delete my comment..like i said dont be yourself...and by the way lee asher is a fast talker.. watch out for that kind of stuff its not good..trust me
the part about being yourself depends on you. If you want, you can pretend 2 b a real magician, but i just think the person with the wand, and the hat, and the bunny, and the nice suit, i think thats corny. I think being yourself is a lot better.
well since i started magic i have been myself and i can say that if you are yourself you can really get awesome reactions because everyone's having fun (including you). It is a completely different thing, though to present an effect as something "dark and mysterious " (like Wayne's STIGMATA), and i think that what most people are trying to say is that you MUST present some effects as "miracles' even though it may not be your style, and i agree. How can you add comedy to a pulse-stop effect?
Awsome video i love it im only 13 i started when i was 12 last year but i didnt learn much u were write learn alot of tricks then u 4get now i will practice my tricks :P thxxxxxxxx

I think Darwin Ortiz's books are good. You can try those but be warned some of his stuffs are only OK-ish, hunt more books till you find one that can suit you best
I really want to get strong magic by Darwin Ortiz. I just can't find any site that has it in stock. Do you know of any. Do you have a favourite book by Darwin O apart from Strong magic.

this is great and very inspiring, every beginner should watch this, and another thing, do not listen to ther people on forums, go to a magic shop and talk to them, and the reason why is because on internet forums, etc. most of the time false information is given, and then its given to another personm, and then another, talk to someone who knows what theyre talking about and not some little kid on the internet.

which 2 theory11 dvds should i get? CoinOne, Symphony, Pressure, eXile, Dangerous, Believe, Distortion, or Witness?

i can show u pressure if u like, its very easy but effective

I would recommend getting Pressure and Distortion.
Your next 2 should be Dangerous and Symphony.
James1Wise 2 years ago
pressure is really great because its impromtu and super strong!
witness gets amazing reactions aswell and its gimmickless
dangerous is really good to but you will have to feel comforable with palming.
believe is good but not that amzaing(in my opninion)
disortion is a gimmick (looks awsome but yea)
exile is good
i should get pressure and dangerous or if u wanna get 3 dvd's get witness to)
but: there are tons of great tutorials for witness)
hope this helps

James1Wise 2 years ago
You are very correct.
We watch DVD's, read books, the creators thus teaching us indirectly the secret, their own secret, but thats where it stops.
Its our job, as magicians, from that point on, to create and give our original performance based on maybe personal experiences or our own innovation.
As Wayne Houchin said "You know the secret, you know the trick, but to the audience's experience, its real magic"
