  • if u guys dont love Jesus and u love stryper then u guys just throw all ur stryper cds away cause Jesus is our man he's our gardian and stryper is great and i dont get it if u talk about the devil ur cool and when u talk about god ur not stryper is great the reason why not much people like them is because of religion i love stryper and i love Jesus we should all love jesus thumbs up if u agree

  • Stryper rocks

  • First time I heard them (You Know What To Do in 1984) I thought "whoa, heavy metal Styx".

  • Michael Sweet has such an amazing live voice; it's a shame in that era so much of the live stuff had to be lip synched. I saw Stryper live in 2009 and when he hit the high octive scream at the end of "Soldiers Under Command" the whole place went crazy. Many voices from the 70s and 80s rely on backup singers to hit the high notes but his isn't one of them. Rockin the world for you Holy One!!

  • @coldnprickly

im only 13 and i been into stryper for about two months and there great i own every thing by them and i want to see a stryper show so bad and i bet Michael did great on that high note cause Michael still sounds the same still he sounds great at least Stryper is actually worth seeing in concert then seeing Motley Crue in concert or somthing or some other great bands that arent any good but Stryper is amazing man

  • Is he holding up cds at 2:38?

  • @Luezur No, he's holding up Bible's with the Stryper logo on them. They throw them out at all concerts!

  • @stryperized oh okay, thanks!

  • Finally found this posted on YT. Thanks to Stryperized! What you don't see is the interview with Pat Boone who kinda brought them to the show and the interview that followed. I was just 19 when this was on TV,but their first album [ I had that had the soon banned cover] was already on the Christian market -esp. You Know What To Do....ah the days gone by....

  • So sick!!!!!! Stryper rocks super hard

  • They performed this same song on the Dove Awards. i do not think the older ones hearing was the same since.

  • stryper show us how bad things can be used for do good things...

  • At 1:49 he started doin' an Elvis impersonation,ha,ha,ha!!!

  • @THRASHFKINFILLETS HA-HA-HA-HA-HA....LOL!!!!! Hilarious!

  • I love these guys

  • Obviously they are playing to their recorded song. It's like what they do for bands on Top of the Pops in Britain, or American Bandstand. Besides Mike's not playing his guitar. They still rock though, and when I first listened to them in 89 I've never let it go! Stryper 4EVR!

  • @zangazoo2007

That's funny you say that I have watched them live and all and he has NEVER played the guitar during that song it's all oz and GUITAR PEDDLES!!

  • 2:20

    wow

  • @slikkwon That's where he got the nickname "Visual Timekeeper" my man!

  • STRYPER open the doors for me to a world of Christian Metal. To this day I rock on for JESUS

  • Just found this. I saw Stryper play Clowes Hall back in the eighties - phenomenally perfect concert and after the years and years of concerts it still remains the best show I ever saw.

  • Jeeeesuuuuuuuuuuusssssss, King, King of kingss, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • he makes me wanna siiiiiinnnngggg !!!!

    best scream ever :-DDD

  • Oz Fox reminds me of Troy Polamalu!!

  • My fav Stryper song! I actually saw this performance when I was like 14 lol. Michael Sweet can still bring it 20 years later.

  • Great Rock band, especially live!

  • I wish someone would upload the stryper performance from the 1986 dove awards ! or maybe the performance from american band stand.

  • @guidav123 I read someplace that during the dove awards they cut t a commercial like 20 seconds into their performance. I could be wrong though..

  • I like Stryper and I'm a fan. I like their music. But this performance a bit embarassing. Not that the music is bad.. it is great.. it;s just the dancing.. you know..

  • @jblue2000 well, lol, its hard to believe but it was cool in this era

  • How cool is this...

  • These guys have a God given talent. They are very, very good at what they do, there is definite chemistry and purpose in what they do.

  • i love stryper i loved them when they first came out

  • I wish they had sung this live, this sounds recorded.

  • great michael sweet!

  • Great Video, very rare!!

    Stryper Rocks!

  • Stryper derives from King James version 53:5. " But he wounded by our trangressions he was bruised for Our Iniquities: The Chastisement of our Peace upon him; and with his Stripes We Are Healed ". Stryper Stands for Salvation, Through Redemption Yielding, Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness.

  • im totally gonna see if me and my band at the youth group at my church can play this for them that would be pretty kickass

  • Man how I love these guys... Their clothes are terrific. I do love it! Really makes me wanna sing... No matter they sing for jesus ... They OWN!!

  • My sister says it looks like Robert Sweet is using his head to hit the thing behind him at 2:23 :-)

  • This IS the best rock band!!!

  • Maaan, I love Stryper but they tooootally lip-synced that one... bummer.

  • stryper lip syncing :-(

  • stryper is the best metal band around n they rock out saw them in greensburgh, pa oct 1 at the palace theatre. there new album is great very heavy tunes. wish i could see they again some where

  • that was actually really good!!!!

  • Wow! I didn't even know this existed. LOL!! Probably cuz in 85 I was 15 and too busy listening to Duran Duran and other British pop. But that soon changed in 87...and the rest is history! Thanks for posting this!!

  • They played this song live the first three times I saw them(in 1987 and twice in 2003). But they didn't play it when I saw them last in 2005.

  • SWEET .! Classic rockin tune..!!

  • so cool, I actually have this recorded on vhs tape...I watched it live back in the day..what memories!

  • This was probably at their peak.I don't think he can still hit those high notes.

  • Actually he still can

  • I just saw them in concert 2 nights ago in Lancaster, PA and Michael sounds as good now as he did back then. I watched them do soundcheck and he's definitely the real deal... They're touring now, so maybe you'll still get to check them out. Awesome show!!!

  • i just saw them in nyc and he hit them perfictly

  • Yeah but Michael Sweet had a great voice regardless!!!

  • MAN! 100% lip synched!! So unfortunate!! But Stryper totally would have knocked the Jesus right into the crowd if they were live!!! Thank goodness for the subtitles at the first chorus too, wasn't sure what they were saying! haha.

  • Yeah! Jesus 4 EVER!!!!!

  • Amazing video!STRYPER rules...

  • Stryper Forever!

  • Wish it was not lyp-synced,but love the song and the bumble-bee outfits...

  • its definetely lip-synced, Robert didn't make any mistakes. :) Just kidding, Love Stryper!

  • I want clothes like that!!! That'd be a hit...

  • i think mike is lip sinkin... wich doesnt bother me cause a lot of artists do that... for prettty good reasons... so wat eve.. . they still rock!!! LONG LIVE STRYPER AND LONG LIVE JESUS!

  • yeah glam metal crisitiano!!!

  • I remember Stryper! We all had a tape or 2 of theirs. Even those of us who listened also to Dio.. lol. God bless them for their music and showing that you can love the Lord and give praise to him even with Metal!

  • Jesus... King of kings!

  • aargh! lip-synced! Why? Oh well, great song!

  • This makes me smile as I reflect on the 1980s and headbanging at Stryper concerts!!!!! I am passing this along!

  • wow

  • if any one has footage of them on american band stand please put it up for us to see....STRYPER ROCKS!!!

  • if anyone has footage from when they were doing this song on the dove awards please put it up for us all to see. I would like to see it again that was when i first seen stryper and been a fan ever since

  • Awesome! I actually have this show on VHS.

  • my all time favorite song!

  • I wish they would have actually have performed the song live rather than roll tape and lip sync and act.

  • wow - love the high note at the end. Sweet!

  • Sweet! (not a pun!) Thanks dude!
