@deFrank412 - Sure, clone to as many disks as like but you can only clone to one disk at a time. You will just have to repeat the clone process on each disk.
@JordyBT: Dude, i just wanna ask if it's possible to clone a disk to multiple destination disks, say 2 or 3 disks? By the way, I have an acronis'10 but i haven't tried cloning to multiple destination disks. Thanks in advance...
@simonsex - Yes, theres a feature under tools called "clone disk" that will do this for you. It will basically re-write the partition from your old disk to your new disk
@mrcheekschico Thanks, mate. Was sitting day out today trying to make it work with Norton Ghost 15 and failed every time. I will give Acronis a try tomorrow. Thanks again!
@mrcheekschico Now I have tried and made backup of a XP (F:). When it was done, I tried to restore it (F:) and now it's not starting windows after it asked me to restart. Does it work only when making and restoring on a partition? Because, what I did is, I took backup on actuall harddisk and restored it on same harddisk.
@da44e - As long as you dont disrupt / write over the operating system that acronis is installed on, then it shouldnt matter if its on the same disk.
As for windows not starting. What error does it give? what problem shows up? I would first check the boot sequence on the bios to make sure the disk of partition (F:) is first boot device. If its a problem with windows, run a repair on the OS boot files using the OS disk to repair.
@mrcheekschico Ahh, thanks. I guess that was the problem I had. I should have done a partition and install there. Well, was worth the try and next time I will know :D. Didnt take that much time to install new OS manually so it's okay. I got error that windows cant start because of change in system or something. Guess that's pretty logical lol. Anyway, I want to thank you a lot for all your help and your explanations. Cheers!
@da44e Try XXCLONE it works great on XP. I tried this peice of shit (Acronis) and the new drive will not boot. I have windows 7 and unfortunately, XXCLONE does not support it.....yet!
Thank you, this was very valuable for me. I'm about to do something similar but with Acronis 2010 and Windows 7 64 bit. I have win7 on a 500GB HDD. I've made full backup of the drive an it's partitions, MBR, etc. to my backup 2TB drive. Now I'm ready to begin the partition alignment process and restore of the OS and MBR.
Instead of using DISKPAR or DISKPART though I'm going to see if the Win7 installer from the MS Win7 install disc will create the properly aligned partition and format it.
I tried this procedure twice (HDD->SSD), but all I get is a "operating system not found message"
I'm using ATI 2010 Home, and the backed up partition is running Windows XP.
I ran diskpar and set the offset to 128 on the SSD. The partition shows up as "active" in DiskManager, and I can read from the SSD drive, I just can't boot.
thanks for making this video, I followed your instructions on the OCZ forums and managed to get my HDD -> SSD working perfectly.
I've tried making images of my SSD and restore to another SSD but it doesn't work on boot. Is the process any different? The image verifies, just doesn't boot.
I am just about to do my first HDD cloning. I followed you throughout the whole process with the exception when you opened the command prompt and typed: "diskpar -i 0"
I am running Win Vista and this command is not supported. What's going on?
Can I work around it? Will my cloning be faulty if I do not use this command?
Hi I made a problem cloning my 60 gig hard drive to my 1 terabytehard dirve. Not experience and backing up or recovering files or disks. The problem is that I think I cloned ove myr terabyte with the same setting saying 60 so I'm missing my unlocated space of my terabyte drive.
i have been using norton ghost for a few entire pc backup but i still want to ask this. do true image and norton ghost performs a formation for the hard disk(s)? do they formats the hard disk(s) before backing them up?

PLEASE HELP!! I cloned my laptop hard drive to my desktop hard drive and everything is OK but the keyboard and mouse don't work....What should i do?
P.S the keyboard and mouse are functioning properly, and work in other machines

@JordyBT
Which operating system are you using? Your problem is with drivers. You need to install the mouse & keyboard drivers from your operating system disk.

Can I use clone of XP and recover it on Windows 7, so it deletes windows 7 and installs win xp?

@da44e - Yes this should work no problem as TI re-writes the partition

Try doing a "repair" with your OS system disk...That should fix the booting issue by rebuilding the damaged files.

"Diskpar" is the command for Win xp....for Win Vista or WIn 7 use the command "Diskpart"..that should do the trick for you

just format again the 1tb and try again read carefull the step this time

If your terabyte drive is showing just the 60gb partition and the rest of the space is unallocated, you can use a tool such as partition magic or
Acronis Disk Director Suite to extend your partition to the full 1TB or to whatever size you like.
