  • 'And the people in the houses all went to the University where they were put in boxes and they came out all the same'

Do you get any truer than this?

  • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬(ஜ۩۞۩ஜ)▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • I'LL B SAILING DE SEVEN SEASSSSSSSSS

  • rad ass

  • Watch The Zeitgeist movies and research the Indigo Children. People like Malvina were the early Light Workers!

  • This is rather depressing

  • I, personally, love his voice and this is my favorite version of the song. If you listen to any other 'The Shins' songs, James can hit high notes. For sure.

Had to stick up for The Shins. They are my favorite, after all. <3

  • Dear 50's conformity,

Thank you for making a song part of a quiz. And for having Levittowns. That too.

  • very enjoyable-thanks!

  • Great version !

  • @genco22000 What other versions are there?

  • @ProRevolution1

    In French ...

  • I watched this exact video in U.S. history today.

  • funny that they say dont like the singer cause he cant reach high notes. just proves that they havnt heard of "The Shins"

  • haha random

  • what university is that picture of?

  • and after the teachers showed you this song. did they all give you home work? and you dont like the singer because he cant reach the high notes? and the video gets so many views and YET we are all still made out of ticky tacky.

*rips hair out!* - *screams!* - *...and crys*

    thanks for sharing though...

  • @trje246 :)

  • @trje246 I know! No one is a true nonconformist. They flirt with the ideals, but they never truly change. They never deeply understand. WHAT CAN MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND?

  • XURUPITA´S FARM..KKKKKKKKKKK

  • XURUPITA'S FARM!

  • 4 people arent made out of ticky tacky

  • I can use this in my class, because you show the keywords so well. Even the deeper theme of everything being the same should be evident to my students.

So thank you for your trouble!

I don't like the singer though. The song is too high for him so he's having a lot of trouble reaching the highest notes, resulting in half a yell.

  • @pacificaaurawynn kool :)

  • @pacificaaurawynn james mercer can sing pretty high I don't think it's too high it's just his voice.. He goes way higher on a lot of other songs..

  • love this is so cool; i did this in citzenship in school

  • the shins are the best

  • i think this one's my favorite version of the song.

  • My history teacher made us watch this too, something about Levittowns....

  • This is a very profound song originally written by Malvina Reynolds.

It's profound because of it's simplicity and truth.

I don't think that she was seriously denigrating the middle classes or their aspirations just highlighting their narrow mindedness and lack of adventure.

It's good to be different. Where would we be without it? Life would be very boring.

I first heard this song when I was very young in the early 60's and it still brings a lump to my throat.

    Beautiful...

  • 0:47 = really bad hair day :S

  • I remember our English teacher made us watch this video and sing this song. I don't know why she did that, but maybe it was because of the subject of the song and everything.

That was last year, every English class in our school did that. And then this year, my classmate suddenly started to sing this song during Maths and we were like "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL"

  • thats kool that teachers are showing my video to students :)

  • "las casitas del barrio alto"!!

  • thank for liking my video i never imagine it would get these many views its like it just shot right up

  • @TheDarknessIsInMe OMG i remember listening to the original version years ago as a kid, it still makes me chuckle when i hear it.

  • some of those pictures were actually scary...

  • AMAZINGG I LOVE IT!

  • fabulous!!

  • im amazed at how many views ive gotten on this video this is awesome

  • Wath is ticky tacky?

  • Nobody really knows, but the most common interpretation is that ticky tacky is like play-doh or clay.

  • ticky tacky is cheap construction material that were used a lot during the 50s and 60s.

  • Its crappy low quality house contrustion matrial, used fro the late 50s to the 60s. Usually for multiple mass produced houses, like tract housing.

  • Cheap materials used in building houses.

  • a cheap building material commonly used i the 50s

  • I love the Shins.

My dad wouldn't stop playing this song over and over again in the different versions.

It started to grow on me, the Shins' version, of course. Awesome! :3
