Your chords are poorly voiced. Try to have more space in chords in the bass clef (ie: cut down on intervals less than a fourth, or there abouts, below, lets say, D below middle C). It's fine to use that thick effect now and again but it becomes very tiresome when all of your harmonies are voiced in that fashion.
Nice, I'm not an expert on composing, and i'm not going to pretend i am. I think the song fits quite well actually. You are well on your way, in my opinion. ((in other words, I would die before i could compose anything worth playing.))
I don't mean to criticise, but in my opinion, it has a lot of inappropriate dissonance. For me dissonance should be resolvable with consonance (ie as in a V7 Chord resolves to the tonic) but here a few times the dissonance can't be resolved at all. I don't mean to criticise, but that is what I think, but then again, The Right Of Spring was considered too dissonant back then, but now it is considered the cornerstone of 20th century music. Perhaps it is the same case here!
Oh no worries! You have a right to express your opinion. In fact, I generally agree with you. I am usually opposed to 'dissonance for its own sake', but every once in a while I like to write a 'soundscape' piece where effect is the only goal and form and melody fall to the wayside. I think my 'The Springs' and 'Agnus Dei' (not on youtube) are both progeny of that sort of though process. I think my sonatas and rondos are born out of a thought process more like yours...
in response to mozpiano2, the dissonance is clearly not contrived and definitely tells its own stories particularly after the bridges
