It's not solder, it's wood's metal. Actually almost the same as the solder, but melts on pretty low temperatures, and stays melted for an extended period, so You have the possibility to take the chips off.

Why did you apply solder if you wanted to remove the chip?

@ooltimu easy answer.
if he doesn't he'd need a hot airgun to get the chip loose (lots of connection to the board)
this way he can heat them all up at the same time
