  • Im pretty sure this is the only live performance theve done of this song.

  • Beautiful . ... Note: Syd recorded the original slide part that Gilmour plays here .

Add Phil Manzanera Fucking awesome .

  • This song was performed eight days after Richard Wright died

  • How can somebody dislike this? They must have amnesia.

  • I thought Guy playing a red Rick 4001 bass, just like Roger used to play in the early days of Floyd, was a subtle and touching gesture.

I felt Jon Carin brought the song to life - the piano parts were PERFECT. I'm glad it was Jon and no one else playing that.

Steve doing Nick's drum line was great. Phil, playing along with Dave, was tasteful and superb.

David sang and played wonderfully; it's as though 40 years HADN'T passed. You could see and feel the emotion. The fact that it was Rick's fi

  • @RinhTruth Agreed. Although Nick didn't play in this song.

  • Bloody fuckin' hell that is just too damn good...what a song.

  • Sözler çok derin ya

  • AVIOES DAVID GILMOR JA TEM , AGORA SO FALTA UMA NAVE ESPACIAL,

  • The only time this song was ever preformed live.

  • rick is playing now with syd, a crazy duet in the sky !!!!

  • wau ats fucking good

  • takes you right back to their best. phil manzeneerer on lead guitar too

  • this is just great. It's nice to see David play in this style.

  • The drumming in this song is great.

  • 2 No, first one was It Would Be So Nice, Remember a day comes from '67 Piper sessions

  • David looks stoned

  • GOD BLESS RICHARD WILLIAM...

  • Dave smokes the finest

  • GOD BLESS GILMORE

  • Is David crying?

  • @YoussefFishere Seems like it, Rick was not only his bandmate, but also a very good friend of his. This is a tribute to him after all.

  • @VladFerdinand1 GOD bless you

  • The Division Bell. Thanks Richard.

  • Great tribute. I love Pink Floyd and i love this song. David sings very good. Rest in peace Richard Wright.

  • still great.

  • pink floyd: love means.

  • I kind of feel like this the final pink floyd concert in spirit that is if you know what I mean

  • Who is the 1 motherfucker who disliked this song...

  • I love how Gilmour has managed the last few re-imaginings of a few older Floyd tunes. This one and Echoes from his Remember that Night DVD. I have found that in my opinion they are better than the originals while still retaining most of the flavor of those originals.

  • sounds almost as good as the studio version from floyd's first album

    i am impressed!!

  • One of the few songs of Floyd that David and Syd played together (along with "A saucerful of secrets " and "Set the controls..". He influenced the way I (and we) played. R.I.P. Richard Wright. We'll miss you.

    From Uruguay.

  • A magnificent tribute to both Rick and Syd.

A genuine pity they never did it live when they were both still alive.

  • this is weird, is like gilmour playing with some dudes from the label...in suites...with nice haircuts...doesnt have vibe...

  • I love how at the same time this isn't just a tribute to Rick but to Syd because of the guitar solo....brings a tear to my eye

  • My favourite Rick Wright tune definitely. For those who mentioned it was never played live, it was "mimed" live in early years but apparently Rick was always uncomfortable with his own lyrics. With this song though, it is too bad he did not sing it cause the song is so innocent.

Oh and to jorkanmx, Dave never played on this song originally. It was Syd on slide. The song was recorded during the Piper sessions but not used on that album.

  • @ishawnm

FWIW, Dave DOES play on the studio original.

    Drums, believe it or not.

  • Why can't we play today ??

  • Great song. I'm glad that David performed it as a tribute to Richard. I wish they had played it together when Richard was alive.

  • Holy!!! Didn't expect to see this! Wow... I love this song!

  • A great song and one of my faves off Relics .... ree memberrr

  • Yeah ! I love it too ! One of these eternal songs !

  • One of my favorite Floyd songs and this is an awesome version of it here. Richard Wright was an under rated member of Pink Floyd and may he rest in peace.

  • COOL..very Nice version for a SOlo Dave....RIP RICK

  • My fav Pink Floyd's song!! <3

  • what an amazing tribute. i cant believe gilmour played one of my fave floyd songs, one that was never played live too..absolutely awesome

  • yea man I didn't know he played this live in recent years. Awesome could only partially describe it.

  • Comment removed

  • actually the first wright recorded composition was paintbox in 1967

  • 40 + years still listening

  • awesome gilmour `s band. rip richard wright

  • One of my fav songs. This tribute is perfect.

But is so sad to know that it reveals 8 blue histories in 4:30 minutes:

    1.- First Wright recorded composition.

2.- First Gilmour's song recorded playing with PF.

3.- PF never played in concerts.

4.- Wright couldn't perform it again.

    5.- Gilmour's expression.

6.- Wright also compose in this song his own tribute in the final line "Reee-member".

7.- This song and this musician never had the honour they deserve.

    8.- RIP Richard Wright.

  • don't forget, syd played the slide guitar parts on the album. so 2 of the 3 people on the album track are currently deceased.

    RIP Rick Wright

    RIP Syd Barrett

  • 9. Nick Mason did not play the drums on this. Norman Smith did instead.

  • @jorkanmx

Everything's right. But Gilmour didn't really play the Saucerful's version; it was Syd's guitar

  • @jorkanmx the first guitar part in the actual song... Syd Barrett was invited, and used a steel guitar to play some of the guitar parts Gilmour is playing.

  • Gilmour was not on the original recording ... Syd was

  • @barakpick Sorry, Gilmour (lead guitar and chorus) and Syd (acoustic guitar) were both on the original record

  • @Gilmour87

    Not according to Wikipedia

  • @jorkanmx

Rick Wright is getting the respect he deserves, but not from some that still owe him

The right people are giving him his due, from Dave Gilmour down to everyone watching this video, Rick will always get the respect he earned!

  • @jorkanmx For 2: isn't Syd on the guitar in the original version?

  • @boogie1master You got it, Jorankmx! And Syd's slide is what gives the original its edge. But I am mightily impressed with this version....even if Dave's facial spots are in evidence.

  • @boogie1master Indeed, he's the solo's genius

  • @boogie1master Yes, it's Syd

  • @jorkanmx No, Syd played guitar in this song.Gilmour didn't yet join the band at that point.

  • @jorkanmx about nr.2 wasnt that let there be more light? as far as i see it, the original recording doesnt even feature david gilmour ( slide guitar was syd barrett)

  • @jorkanmx wasn't paintbox his first song?

  • It was always my favorite Floyd track. It's got a unique sound.

  • @jorkanmx actually Gilmour didn't recorded this song. It was intended to be on Piper At The gates of Dawn, but they didnt released it because there was no space on vinyl to put it into...

Also, in this performance, Roger Waters borrowed to Guy Pratt his original Rickenbacker bass, which he used to record the song back in 1967.

  • Amazing, sounds soo good. They could have really butchered this song, but instead they really kept the integrity of the original recording in tact. Great to see Gilmour with the Tele. The bassist did a great job too. He had the tone of that Rik near perfect compared to the original.

  • @cantlovethis I believe the bass player, Guy Pratt, used the very bass Roger used to record the song.

  • x te rick

  • awesome performance.

    richard wright forever.

  • Jon Carin looks really lonely with out Mr. Wright.

  • It's one of my favourite "hit" songs of Floyd

  • oh and describe that rik wrote this

  • u need to put rik wright tribute in tag or title to get more hits mate.... cheers for posting
