I don't understand why the Eink flasshes so much during refreshment of image -.- the technology of orientation of eink particels is the same of LCD -.- this is an attempt to discredit Eink
Am I the only one that thinks that E-ink technology in its current state is bloody unbearable. When I first held the device in store with all the flashing and refresh flashing etc. I thought it was broken.
I _really_ wanted a PRS-650 (mostly for EPUB support) but the new Kindles $79 is just unbelievable cheap, beautiful and well built. It will be bothersome having to convert epubs to mobi using Calibre but that's not an issue (for my budget, an overpriced device is..). Also, I didn't like the "animation" that the device does before flashing the page, the 650 didn't seem to do that...
As my prs-505's battery has finally failed, was thinking of upgrading to the 650, so imagine my horror at discovering that Sony have brought out this monster and withdrawn (I think) the 650!!!
@muskndusk Yes, they withdrew the 650 quite a while ago. You can still get it on ebay and amazon. But the PRS-T1 is the same as the 650, except the PRS-T1 is lighter, better, has Wi-Fi, and a longer lasting battery. Also it is cheaper - even used 650s are still more expensive than a new T1. So it's worth getting the PRS-T1.
@brbubba Thats because the 350 is an inch smaller. You keep bringing this up at mobilereadforums. This is exactly the same resolution as the 650. You cant compare a smaller devices resolution to a larger devices resolution.
@Dar70 What are you stalking me now?? ha ha. Yes, the screen is bigger, but the PPI should be the same. A 1 in size difference isn't going to affect your reading distance so PPI matters a lot. The iRiver Story HD has a 6 in screen and a 200+ PPI so the technology is out there, but Sony missed the boat by not including it in this device.
@brbubba LOL Funny because I was looking up videos on this device and I read your comment and thought it sounded familiar.LOL I didnt even have to look at the name.LOL It was basically the same comment I had read at MR forums the same day. ; ) Anyways yeah I know the iriver has higher PPI.BUT that device is seriously lacking elsewhere itself and so far is the only one with the HD.Sony is about with the rest.I guess the kindle4 will have to be your next consideration.Maybe it will have hd.
Resolution fail, build quality fail, new features fail, and considering the build quality price fail too. I waited the whole summer for this device and once the news arrived I just bought 350. By the way, do you have any experiences on PRS+?
I would love to get a prs 650 but they are very hard to come by. A sony employee told me that noone had expected such a rush on the prs 650. So they are out of stock for an unpredictable amount of time. For that reason I preordered a t1 today. The 145 vs 229€ will have to show at some point... I would rather have had an aluminum casing but hell, none left ^^
That "red" looks more like pink. It reminds me of when I got the prs-300, in the box it said red, but they were all actually pink. Let's wait and see.
@dtz100 - remember if you have many kindle books you won't be able to use them on a Sony. They're not compatible due to stupid monopolization. I love Sony for giving me the freedom of choice.
That is quite a disappointment. It is shiny like a cheap brothel. My current brushed aluminum sony reader looks much better, more stylish and is more durable.
Also the dictionaries are not new at all, like the salesmen is asserting, my 'old ' sony has them too.
This model has very little new to offer. No stronger processor, no improved internal memory size, cheaper material, no text to speech etc etc.
Too glossy. Not much of an update for me to gety rid of my 650. (wifi and faster processor does not matter to me)The 650 actually is more asthetically pleasing, plus the case is aluminum and has a matte finish. Going to stick with that.
Good preview though Charbax. The other 3 I have seen didnt even show the pinch to zoom. Would have liked to see the new font sizes as well as choices.

Save90 1 month ago
@Save90 Because it uses electronic Ink, not LCD display. It's not a tablet, it's an ereader.

Resolution fail Sony! The device looks nice but 160 ppi is crap! My PRS350 has a 200 PPI. This is a downgrade, not an upgrade!!!!

@jounihat I have a PRS-350 and I use PRS+ with it just fine. It's very simple to install and there's pretty much no danger to the system.

Looks better than my kindle 3. Stupid Amazon aren't bringing out a new eink Kindle any time soon so i may have to upgrade to this instead.
