"Do as thou will" is the whole of the law in Satanism. In Christianity, the life of the Christian will return to the predestinated source of that life...Father God or Father Satan. Christians seek to do God's will because their desire to please God comes from the gene of God that resides in them, just as Satanists seek to spurn God's will because the desire of their Father resides in their genes. Regardless of which side you find yourself, at least have the guts to admit it is your religion.
@CWesWillis In THELEMA. Satanism is entirely different. The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey does not say that "Do As Thou Will Shall Be The Whole of the Law". That is the most misquoted, most incorrectly attributed meme on YouTube, it seems. Christians are stunningly ignorant of the differences between occult belief systems, which is odd, because if they interpret the Bible literally, they believe that magic is real. It would be good to understand it better, maybe?
@CWesWillis There are no God/Satan genes. We have this thing called the Human Genome Project, guess what? They didn't find religious beliefs in the genome. They do however, in other fields, such as sociology and anthropology, know that the culture you got born into effects your religious beliefs.
In Islam if a lamb wants to leave the herd the other lamb kill it instead of letting it leave the herd (lol). That's just funny, sick, and disturbing all in one package. Social injustice sucks.
It seems to me that about half the nutcases on YouTube are conspiracy theorists who accuse anyone who doesn't share their beliefs of being "sheep," while the other half accuse anyone who doesn't share their beliefs of not being "sheep."
It's hilarious. Shepherds don't keep sheep because they love them. They police them, herd them, pen them, fleece them and sometimes even devour them. And yes, depending on "providence" (like the birds and lilies) instead of helping yourself, warning people to not judge the world around them, and to consider faith a virtue is to simply encourage people to stop thinking and to mistrust their own judgement. Paternalistic church and state controls people by treating them like dumb children.
So God's devine plan is to eat us... This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen! It doesn't make any sense! Why does God hype up heaven? If he hyped up Hell we would come out nice and cooked, fried, baked, broiled, steamed, or smoked.
@viridismonasteriense The way I see it, if God exists, and he's going to hype up heaven for you to go there, whats the alternative? Hell? I guess you're damned if you do and your damned if you don't. Aint life a bitch?
@viridismonasteriense But if he doesn't exist, what else is there? Nothing? Whats there to be glad about? When you die, you just get blinked out of existence. The whole rest of the world moves on and you have no part in it. All of your accomplishments will mean shit to you after you kick the bucket. Like I said, lifes a bitch.
@QBALL85 What else is there? EVERYTHING. There's EVERYTHING to be glad about. It's about what you leave behind. Don't you see how egocentric and arrogant you sound? You're a part of this world. You can make a difference right here right now. Your family, your loved ones, your friends, your society, your people, your world....your universe...THAT's what it's about. My accomplishments will mean everything to my descendants. Life can be a bitch, but it can also be AWESOME. It's about LIFE not death
@QBALL85 it's like this, and the same principle goes for morality as well:
Imagine you're the parent of two children. They have to eat their vegetables. Both dislike it. One will only eat it when you promise it ice cream afterwards. The other eats it because it knows it's healthy even if it doesn't taste good.
Which kid would you be more proud of? We do good because it's worth doing. We live life because it's worth living. Because it's amazing. At least for some of us of course.......
@QBALL85 and for those who don't live good lives, who live in suffering, oppression, starvation, disease, we should do the best we can to improve their lives. We only have the one. Let's make the best of it.
@QBALL85 "agreed, after all its the christian thing to do."
Oh, I sincerely disagree there.
Christian dogma promotes this sollipsistic arrogant misanthropy and sadomasochism. It is the christian nihilistic worldview that without their god nothing matters. You won't believe how many christians have told me they'd rape and pillage without their god.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him.
@QBALL85 Don't you know how nihilistic you sound? Without a god, without some reward in heaven, nothing matters? Truth is, if there is some eternal afterlife that would make everything in this world MEANINGLESS, pointless, infinitely less valuable, and all your life is is kissing some god's ass to get into heaven. This is just a stepping stone. Nothing is our responsibility, nothing is our accomplishment and we all live by the mercy of some sky king who tells us what to think and do. Depressing.
@QBALL85 For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -Carl Sagan
In the end it's not about what I want to believe. I don't want the universe to end in heat death, the sun to expand etc. but that is what the evidence suggests will happen. But does that really mean I should just kill myself right now? No. I want to savour every last drop of life I have, live in love and joy and while it lasts let's ROCK.
@viridismonasteriense As do I. Never the less Newton's law states energy can neither be created or destroyed. So if theres no god, where does that energy go? Nirvana? Valhalla? Elysium? Do you get to choose?
@QBALL85 If energy cannot be created or destroyed, no god was required to create it.
But the question of energy is what has made scientists deduce the heat death of the universe when maximum entropy has been reached.
I don't see why you think or believe this energy somehow slips off into some other dimension or reality.
You're entitled to your opinions but not your facts. I find choosing beliefs dishonest. I base mine on evidence in reality. When none is available I say 'I don't know'
@viridismonasteriense Still begs the question on how its there to begin with. I don't see why it wouldn't. Where else would it go?
I'm glad I have your approval when it comes to my opinions, but to not be entitled to my facts seems pretty unfair, especially since they contradict yours. But then again I'm as much of an egocentric arrogant fool to you as much of a deaf dumb and blind sheep you are to me.
@QBALL85 "Still begs the question on how its there to begin with." Indeed, but I don't claim to know. It is the theists who claim to know. They're claiming it was god who put it there. I don't believe them because they don't provide any evidence, only faith.
I didn't say you were egocentric and arrogant, christian dogma is, but now you're calling me a deaf fumb and blind sheep? Ironic, considering it's the christians who proudly let themselves be called sheep & foolish children, beyond logic.
@viridismonasteriense Egocentric and arrogant came straight out of your mouth. Though I was merely playing devil's advocate during those posts. Never the less since there is no god then your free will is nothing more than the electrical impulses in your brain dictating what your doing right now. I think that classifies one as a sheep. a deaf dumb and blind one for that matter. Funny, how we're not thinking alike if he have no free will.
@QBALL85 "Egocentric and arrogant came straight out of your mouth. " Actually it came out of yours, that was the whole point I was making. I wasn't calling you arrogant, but the things you said, playing devil's advocate.
"since there is no god then your free will is nothing more than the electrical impulses in your brain " Are you saying your brain isn't electrical impulses etc? Your argument is pathetic. If the christian god is real, there is no free will. 'Choose what I want you to or die'.
@viridismonasteriense The fuck I did asshole, read your damn posts, you started with that shit!
Yeah, the brain has electrical impulses. But if thats all we had we'd be nothing more than zombies. There can only be free will with God, if not by God, then by what? The big bang theory? the theory of evolution where one species created civilization, where as the runner up sits around picking ticks off each others backs while drinking their own pee after masturbating in a zoo exhibit?
Claiming to not understand how free will can exist without God does not demonstrate that it can't. That is called the "argument from ignorance" and it is a fallacy. Maybe free will is possible without God. Maybe we don't have free will at all. These issues have not been resolved. That does not show that there is a God.
@Strelnieks66 It doesn't show that there isn't either. But fuck it, You people can believe what ever you want to believe. But if I ever walk by you and I hear you say, "Oh My God" for any reason, best believe I will kick you in the nuts and laugh my ass off. Even the most hard core atheists still call out to him for some reason. Never understood why.
You've never understood why because you don't think about issues. You simply briefly consider something and then give up - just like with the free will thing. You do the same thing with language that atheists do with "oh my God." When you say "fuck it" you don't literally mean to have sexual intercourse with it. There are simply common expressions in the language. "Oh my God" is one of them. Your threats of violence demonstrate a juvenile, fanatic and arrogant mindset.
@Strelnieks66 LMAO, You limies are too much. You have an explanation for everything, don't you? Lets look at a dictionary.
Fuck: (vulgar) 1. To have sexual intercourse with. 2.(slang) to treat unfairly or harshly.
God: 1. The supreme being, the creator and ruler of the Universe. 2. Supreme being considered with reference to a particular attribute. (the God of Thunder)
My use of "Fuck it" is well within it's context. So I ask you, which God do you refer to?
If "fuck it" means, in context, to "treat harshly," it is quite clear that "oh my God" doesn't always have to mean an actual appeal to an invisible sky spook. It can be an expression of amazement, fear or other strong emotion.
Do you get this anal about other normal expressions? When someone says, "Wow, she's a fox!" do you say, "No, she's not an omnivorous mammal of the canidae family. She's a woman!"? Of course not. You're just trying to annoy.
@mhatlie Madeline Murray Tap Dancing, Doggie Style O'Hair! Quit over analyzing this Shit! She may not be an omnivorous mammal of the canidae family, but she's just as sassy as one. And you're not appealing the invisible sky spook, you're actually pissing him off. But since you don't believe in him then I guess you're just talking to air. Which makes me believe you are crazy. Rather than, "Oh My God" why not, "Oh my Science?" Or instead of "Jesus Christ!" Why not "Charles Darwin!"
You're the one who got all anal on us for using a common expression because you understand it literally instead of how it is obviously meant. So who's "over analyzing"?
"Charles Darwin!" has never become an expression like that because he is not worshiped. Atheists do not worship things - not science, not Darwin, nothing. There is some respect for some things that many atheists would show, but there are no songs, rituals, inerrant books, mysteries, prayers or sacraments.
@Strelnieks66 You see it as a common expression. It's blasphemy. Thats what it is. But I'm not going to impose my morals onto you. You think we butcher our children for sacrifice anyway. I'm just pointing out that when you say, "Oh My God!" You contradict your disbelief in a God. No matter how you put it, thats the way it is. I'm not telling you not to say it. But you make yourself out to be a fool whenever you do.
You threatened me with violence, and now you're saying you won't impose your morals on me. You state flat out - ignoring my sound refutations of your arguments - that "that's the way it is" (although you missed the apostrophe). And then you call me a fool.
For anyone reading this: You see here a very cogent illustration of Christian discourse - narrow-minded focus on initial impression or assumptions, authoritarian dialogue, threats, and name calling.
@Strelnieks66 Yeah about that, I meant the whole kick in the nuts thing as a joke, I re-read it and didn't mean to sound so threatening. I apologize for that.
However, Atheists are also guilty of narrow-minded focus on initial impression or assumptions, authoritarian dialogue, name calling, and sometimes threats. Don't try to deny that.
I figured it was a joke, of course, but it seemed rather impulsive and silly.
Atheists do use name calling. I know a few instances. I don't know of any threats, at least not since communism. Authoritarian dialogue? Most atheists today go by the scientific method, which is, outside the institutions of the university, not very authoritarian at all. It is evidence-based, not authority based. Arguments and evidence aren't about who says them, but carry their own weight.
@Strelnieks66 Shit, I asked an atheist on a message board about what he has against Christians. He said, "You breath our air! You're a waste of life!" That right there is hate. That doesn't sound threatening to you?
I agree. That sounds threatening and shameful. I've been on a lot of forums and watched a lot of debates and that is perhaps the worst thing I have heard from an atheist in terms of nastiness, so it surprises me. But it is plausible, of course. Another thing you'll find over and over again from atheists is the denial that atheism provides a positive moral program. It clears the table of some moral views - including bad models - but does not, as such, provide replacements.
@Strelnieks66 Well I'm glad that you find happiness and peace of mind through Atheism. I was in Iraq from 2009-2010 where I was part of a transportation unit. I'm not going to go into details about what happened over there, but throughout the deployment, things have gotten so stressful for everyone that the combat stress clinic was made up of 90% of my unit. I never knew where it was, because I never bothered to ask. I never needed it. Everyone had their own problems...
@Strelnieks66 And different ways of dealing with them. While 90% of my unit, made up of both Theists and Atheists, all were prescribed sleeping pills or alpha blockers. I prayed to God every night, not for a good day. Because for some reason I asked for a break and for him to just give me a good day, made it into a really bad day. Never failed for some reason. But I started asking me, just to get through the day without losing my mind and my days weren't so bad.
@Strelnieks66 I also prayed for everyone's safety whenever we went out on convoys. After about 11 months deployed. (It was suppose to be a year but we left early because of the draw down.) Nobody got hurt, and almost no incidents happened. Just one ambush where they shot at us, then launched an RPG, which missed one of our trucks but didn't explode. There were also several mortar attacks on our base, where no one got hurt. So we all made it home in one piece.
@Strelnieks66 You can choose what to make of all that, but no matter what anyone tells me, they can't shake my beliefs. You might think I was disillusioning myself into thinking God was taking care of everything and when bad days happened, he was testing me. Maybe it was all in my head and I'm crazy. But I wasn't the one taking medication. Maybe some Motrin for my back, but that was about it.
Stress and danger affect people differently with regard to religion. Some find comfort in religion or become religious. Others lose their religion. I'm glad you and yours made it home and that it worked for you.
I don't find comfort in my atheism, I don't think, although I do find it somewhat liberating. As I was saying before, it is a negative position. It clears the table, but doesn't really provide content. Because of that, it not being a religion, I don't capitalize it.
@QBALL85 " I don't see why it wouldn't." And I don't see why it would. Saying something can happen doesn't mean it actually is happening. And it's more honest and rational to not believe energy is being drained into some other dimension until evidence is provided that it is. If you choose your beliefs by what you want to believe you'll end up delusional. It's about what's real in reality.
Don't be so smug, implying I'm arrogant. I'm glad we were agreeing on something, not approving wtf
@QBALL85 No, you're not entitled to your own facts. Opinions, yes. Two contradicting facts can't both be right. A god can't both exist and not exist. You're entitled to believe it exists as I'm entitled not to believe. But to say for example the earth is flat when it clearly isn't and to insist anyway, is delusional and ignorant etc etc. But when it comes to gods and afterlives there is no such conclusive evidence. To believe in spite of evidence is lying to yourself, so non-belief is rational.
@viridismonasteriense Well then I guess neither are you entitled to your own facts. Since there is evidence he exists, like you said, to believe in spite of evidence is lying to yourself. That includes believing he doesn't exist. I guess thats why when the scientific community started seeing evidence in intelligent design, those wanting to be "politically correct" shut them down and made it so it can't be taught in school.
@QBALL85 "Since there is evidence he exists, like you said" I never said any such thing. There is no evidence for a god. The burden of proof is on the person making the positive claim, that is the theists. If someone came up to you saying he could turn into an invisible dragon, would you believe him? No, not without evidence. Without evidence, no belief. I don't have to disprove anything when nothing has been proven. Have you disproven Islam? No? So by your logic you can't not believe in Allah.
@viridismonasteriense Islam, Christianity and Judaism worship the same God. The only difference is Muslims center their belief around Mohammed where as Christians center their belief around Jesus. "Allah" is simply arabic for God. Thats like saying God and Dios (Spanish for God) are different entities. As for God turning into an invisible dragon. He's God, he can do what the hell he wants. Though I don't know why he would since he associates dragons with Satan.
@QBALL85 the scientific community and the judge who ruled that intelligent design could not be taught in school recognised intelligent design to just be creationism in a different jacket, religion trying to sneak its way into schools where it has no place. There's no evidence for intelligent design, stupid. Creationism is ridiculous in any shape or form, but the christian one is particularly a doozy. A god that came from nothing to create a mudman and ribwoman and a talking snake fully formed...
@viridismonasteriense Ah ok, so now your going to call me stupid. Remember when I called you deaf dumb and blind? Yeah, I rest my case. Some fucking explosion called "The Big Bang" is really going to create life, especially when you look at how complex the human body is. No fucking way. Thats why scientists started looking into the idea until thick headed jack ass atheist started saying, "Your sneaking religion into schools" and Thick headed brain washed morons like you, believed it.
@QBALL85 It did cross my mind and what I have said to you is my answer. I found it egocentric/arrogant because you say 'All of your accomplishments will mean shit to YOU' 'when YOU die, YOU just get blinked out of existence' 'YOU have no part in it' It's all about you...and I don't mean you and I don't mean you're actually egocentric and arrogant but this line of thinking is. It's obsessed with YOUR life, YOUR reward, YOUR heaven. Just because there's no carrot doesn't mean it's not worth living
At first I thought Thunderf00t was a bias Atheist. Now after seeing this poor attempt of mixing what he calls 'religious study' with one of the most creative science fiction shows it has occurred to me Thunderf00t has no idea what the Hell he's talking about. I just wasted 2 minutes of my life.
@KoRnNative Good question- I started making You Tube Poops back in college but now I find myself caught up with work and digitally publishing some writing. Every now and then I tend to search for a rational Christian/Atheist argument but never can find one. Perhaps my comment was too harsh due to the fact that 'The Twilight Zone' is a major influence to me.
@lordkremlore The Description says for the Lulz he dint create this particular video for education you know just because some one is intelligent they do know how to have fun.
Yahweh wants to eat us. But atheists are an elusive bunch. They are hard to find because they don't broadcast their position through their "prayer". They have a very good chance of being found by other gods and being saved from the hungry souleater.
But worshippers of the Ith'Nyeargh have an even better chance, because they ARE broadcasting their position, just not to Yahweh, but to the good gods.
@eastjones Except when Yahweh eats you, you are deader than dead, meaning your soul is destroyed.
But don't worry, the Ith'Nyeargh have finally arrived!
Even the most devout christian is safe from the treacherous horrorgod now, for the Ith'Nyeargh have had their followers build machines that collect our souls. We will be reborn eventually. We are safe.

@mjh012363 dude.......organized religion is evil.....psalm 23 is proof.....warping the message of jesus and the other "prophets" to breed hatred..... smh...how hard is it to realize that god is consciousness and rationality? where the lord is that person who takes monthly dues and kicks you to the curb when you worthless.
"warping the message of jesus and the other "prophets" to breed hatred"
Um.. who? The religious or TF?
"how hard is it to realize that god is consciousness and rationality? where the lord is that person who takes monthly dues and kicks you to the curb when you worthles"
What the fuck does that suppose to mean? Could you please be a bit more consistent and coherent in your reponse here please!
I'll postulate that if you choose not to fall for the temptation and be consumed by the light being, other options may then be presented.
With all the near death stories that get distributed by the media and believers, all toughting that the "light" is god, imagine the potential horror of this not being the case.
Or imagine the potential horror that that light is the light from God's oven!! After all, if there's light then one must wonder, what is the source of that light...!!!
presented by a beautiful being which will consume your soul only with your voluntary consent. If you choose to be eaten, well your gone, what ever is left of you is to know you made the wrong choice, like one of those monsters from Japanese manga and anime where all that's left of the consumed victims is their faces on the monsters surface and an awareness of their plight as more victims get consumed.
She described the light as beautiful and comforting. She then heard a voice instruct her to "come, join, and become a part of me" but before she could act, she was drawn back into her body as the surgery was concluding.
Now, why would a god thing have a desire to have souls fuse with it to become a single being ?
Here is another hypothesis for theists to contemplate, What if the light is your last temptation ? A test that you must take before anything else happens. You get
Lets contemplate the possibility that these experiences are real examples of the continuance of the consciousness beyond the biological shutdown of the brain and not a manifestation of the last moments of the brain experiencing it's own demise.
The gal being interviewed by Art Bell actually said that she met the god thingy. During a brain aneurysm surgery, her consciousness left her body, traveled through the tunnel towards the "light" and found that the light itself was the god.
I just posted this on facebook to a Pat Condell video and now I found this where it is highly appropriate as well:
I remember listening to the old "Coast to Coast" radio program when Art Bell had a program on Near Death Experiences. One guest told of her experience and the message that she carried away from it, which, to me, seemed quite horrific.
@BibleIsland Over generalizing much? Cherry picking much? Every group, from time to time, resorts to mockery. Practically everyone resorts to mockery of others at least once in their life. Humans have used mockery for comedy for thousands of years.
@TV843 They must have at least been absent minded. You may have noticed how they had to duck to get through the doorways inside their own spaceship. You'd think with the kind of technology needed to reach other civilizations, they'd be able to design spacecrafts that could accommodate their stature.
The other thing that fits the category is and un-embodied mind. God is a spirit and is the only one that meets the criteria needed to create the universe. I believe this is logical enough to justify my beliefs publicly. What's your take on this?
knowing exactly what happened 14 billion years ago is a challenge even for science.
(yet keep in mind modern science is only about 400 years old)
but saying "we dont know yet" is a perfectly acceptable answer!
believing in god doesn't even answer "how did the universe become the way it is?" because you know nothing about the process in which god created the universe,so you know exactly as much if not less, than science.
@oneoftheservantsofjc dont say "god" and "logical" in the same sentence. god by definition is not something you can comprehend with logic so god cant be "the logical explanation". look at this argument for example: what causes gravity? god. how did the universe start? god. how did life start? god. it is exactly like saying that you dont know... except that "god does know" but that still leaves you with no answers and no explanations. god might as well be a flying spaghetti monster
science is not "all the answers about everything" science is a tool to get answers slowly by slowly...by gaining more and more information, while at the same time effectively filtering facts that are true, from garbage.
science is a process of learning...and as such you cant expect it to have all the answers right off the bat...then it would be a religion.
. I’m not putting you in that box because you have already stated that you don’t know how the universe came into being. Regardless of that I will make my point on the common atheistic point of view. So what could cause space, time and matter? The answer is something timeless, space-less, and immaterial. What could fit into that category? Abstract objects could fit that category, but abstract objects (like numbers and symbols) are not able to cause anything. -continued in next post-
When you see a painting, how do you know it has a painter? Again the answer is obvious, the painting has a painter because paintings don’t paint themselves. The same can be said about creation. How do you know creation has a creator? Again the answer is obvious, because creation cannot create its self. Let us consider universe. What could possibly cause time, space, and matter? Most atheists would say that something came from nothing. -continued in next post-
"Thy rod and staff"... were actually symbolic representations of the Phoenician psuedo-god Baal that had some following in Israel and was referred to as "the lord" and a rival to the "Yawheh". Not that it's a true story, but it does illustrate how Christians don't even understand their own religion.
@whanethewhip I understand what "pseudo" means. It just seemed like you were specifically marking out Baal for special treatment when you referred to him as a pseudo-god.
@Vexille1983 Oh I see what you mean, you thought I was saying that some other god was real but that Baal was fake. That's my error for attaching that prefix to Baal only. I have an equal level irreverence for all so-called gods lol. If there is some god that is supreme in all ways then that would have to include morally supreme and I just cant picture a moral god asking for or even condoning worship.
@whanethewhip - Or engages in megalomania of any kind. Megalomania would fall under the sin of pride; and given Yahweh is perfect, the sin of pride can't be committed. Now coupled with megalomania is another belief, not held by any rational being I know - that of might makes right. The Choich trid that one on Gallileo and issued its apology centuries later, when it would do him no good. Hmm. If they're wrong about that, what else are they wrong about? Oh noes! Opened that can of worms ...
It is for a reason the "Lord" is a shepherd. Sheep are regularly fleeced, and butchered. Not an inappropriate analogy.

Only christians believe in satan, and in the bible satan is simply a loyal, subservient agent of god.
Just pointing out the obvious.

Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with her in your heart. have u done that?
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? Does this concern you?
Do u need a Savior from your sins?
Jesus (The Son of God)came, lived a sinless life, died on the cross (for our sins) and rose again on the third day.

So God's devine plan is to eat us... This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen! It doesn't make any sense! Why does God hype up heaven? If he hyped up Hell we would come out nice and cooked, fried, baked, broiled, steamed, or smoked.

@viridismonasteriense But if he doesn't exist, what else is there? Nothing? Whats there to be glad about? When you die, you just get blinked out of existence. QBALL85 3 months ago

@viridismonasteriense Egocentric and arrogant? Don't sit there and tell me its never crossed your mind.
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 it's like this, and the same principle goes for morality as well:
Imagine you're the parent of two children. They have to eat their vegetables. Both dislike it. One will only eat it when you promise it ice cream afterwards. The other eats it because it knows it's healthy even if it doesn't taste good.
Which kid would you be more proud of? We do good because it's worth doing. We live life because it's worth living. Because it's amazing. At least for some of us of course.......
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago

QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 "agreed, after all its the christian thing to do."
Oh, I sincerely disagree there.
Christian dogma promotes this sollipsistic arrogant misanthropy and sadomasochism. It is the christian nihilistic worldview that without their god nothing matters. You won't believe how many christians have told me they'd rape and pillage without their god.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@QBALL85 Don't you know how nihilistic you sound? Without a god, without some reward in heaven, nothing matters? Truth is, if there is some eternal afterlife that would make everything in this world MEANINGLESS, pointless, infinitely less valuable, and all your life is is kissing some god's ass to get into heaven. This is just a stepping stone. Nothing is our responsibility, nothing is our accomplishment and we all live by the mercy of some sky king who tells us what to think and do. Depressing.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@QBALL85 For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -Carl Sagan
In the end it's not about what I want to believe. I don't want the universe to end in heat death, the sun to expand etc. but that is what the evidence suggests will happen. But does that really mean I should just kill myself right now? No. I want to savour every last drop of life I have, live in love and joy and while it lasts let's ROCK.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense As do I. Never the less Newton's law states energy can neither be created or destroyed. So if theres no god, where does that energy go? Nirvana? Valhalla? Elysium? Do you get to choose?
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 If energy cannot be created or destroyed, no god was required to create it.
But the question of energy is what has made scientists deduce the heat death of the universe when maximum entropy has been reached.
I don't see why you think or believe this energy somehow slips off into some other dimension or reality.
You're entitled to your opinions but not your facts. I find choosing beliefs dishonest. I base mine on evidence in reality. When none is available I say 'I don't know'
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense Still begs the question on how its there to begin with. I don't see why it wouldn't. Where else would it go?
I'm glad I have your approval when it comes to my opinions, but to not be entitled to my facts seems pretty unfair, especially since they contradict yours. But then again I'm as much of an egocentric arrogant fool to you as much of a deaf dumb and blind sheep you are to me.
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 "Still begs the question on how its there to begin with." Indeed, but I don't claim to know. It is the theists who claim to know. They're claiming it was god who put it there. I don't believe them because they don't provide any evidence, only faith.
I didn't say you were egocentric and arrogant, christian dogma is, but now you're calling me a deaf fumb and blind sheep? Ironic, considering it's the christians who proudly let themselves be called sheep & foolish children, beyond logic.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense Egocentric and arrogant came straight out of your mouth. Though I was merely playing devil's advocate during those posts. Never the less since there is no god then your free will is nothing more than the electrical impulses in your brain dictating what your doing right now. I think that classifies one as a sheep. a deaf dumb and blind one for that matter. Funny, how we're not thinking alike if he have no free will.
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 "Egocentric and arrogant came straight out of your mouth. " Actually it came out of yours, that was the whole point I was making. I wasn't calling you arrogant, but the things you said, playing devil's advocate.
"since there is no god then your free will is nothing more than the electrical impulses in your brain " Are you saying your brain isn't electrical impulses etc? Your argument is pathetic. If the christian god is real, there is no free will. 'Choose what I want you to or die'.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense The fuck I did asshole, read your damn posts, you started with that shit!
Yeah, the brain has electrical impulses. But if thats all we had we'd be nothing more than zombies. There can only be free will with God, if not by God, then by what? The big bang theory? the theory of evolution where one species created civilization, where as the runner up sits around picking ticks off each others backs while drinking their own pee after masturbating in a zoo exhibit?
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85
Claiming to not understand how free will can exist without God does not demonstrate that it can't. That is called the "argument from ignorance" and it is a fallacy. Maybe free will is possible without God. Maybe we don't have free will at all. These issues have not been resolved. That does not show that there is a God.
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 It doesn't show that there isn't either. But fuck it, You people can believe what ever you want to believe. But if I ever walk by you and I hear you say, "Oh My God" for any reason, best believe I will kick you in the nuts and laugh my ass off. Even the most hard core atheists still call out to him for some reason. Never understood why.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 LMAO, You limies are too much. You have an explanation for everything, don't you? Lets look at a dictionary.
Fuck: (vulgar) 1. To have sexual intercourse with. 2.(slang) to treat unfairly or harshly.
God: 1. The supreme being, the creator and ruler of the Universe. 2. Supreme being considered with reference to a particular attribute. (the God of Thunder)
My use of "Fuck it" is well within it's context. So I ask you, which God do you refer to?
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
You're just trying to annoy.
mhatlie 2 months ago
@mhatlie Madeline Murray Tap Dancing, Doggie Style O'Hair! Quit over analyzing this Shit! She may not be an omnivorous mammal of the canidae family, but she's just as sassy as one. And you're not appealing the invisible sky spook, you're actually pissing him off. But since you don't believe in him then I guess you're just talking to air. Which makes me believe you are crazy. Rather than, "Oh My God" why not, "Oh my Science?" Or instead of "Jesus Christ!" Why not "Charles Darwin!"
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 You see it as a common expression. It's blasphemy. Thats what it is. But I'm not going to impose my morals onto you. You think we butcher our children for sacrifice anyway. I'm just pointing out that when you say, "Oh My God!" You contradict your disbelief in a God. No matter how you put it, thats the way it is. I'm not telling you not to say it. But you make yourself out to be a fool whenever you do.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 Yeah about that, I meant the whole kick in the nuts thing as a joke, I re-read it and didn't mean to sound so threatening. I apologize for that.
However, Atheists are also guilty of narrow-minded focus on initial impression or assumptions, authoritarian dialogue, name calling, and sometimes threats. Don't try to deny that.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 Shit, I asked an atheist on a message board about what he has against Christians. He said, "You breath our air! You're a waste of life!" That right there is hate. That doesn't sound threatening to you?
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 Well I'm glad that you find happiness and peace of mind through Atheism. I was in Iraq from 2009-2010 where I was part of a transportation unit. I'm not going to go into details about what happened over there, but throughout the deployment, things have gotten so stressful for everyone that the combat stress clinic was made up of 90% of my unit. I never knew where it was, because I never bothered to ask. I never needed it. Everyone had their own problems...
QBALL85 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 And different ways of dealing with them. While 90% of my unit, made up of both Theists and Atheists, all were prescribed sleeping pills or alpha blockers. I prayed to God every night, not for a good day. Because for some reason I asked for a break and for him to just give me a good day, made it into a really bad day. Never failed for some reason. But I started asking me, just to get through the day without losing my mind and my days weren't so bad.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 I also prayed for everyone's safety whenever we went out on convoys. After about 11 months deployed. (It was suppose to be a year but we left early because of the draw down.) Nobody got hurt, and almost no incidents happened. Just one ambush where they shot at us, then launched an RPG, which missed one of our trucks but didn't explode. There were also several mortar attacks on our base, where no one got hurt. So we all made it home in one piece.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@Strelnieks66 You can choose what to make of all that, but no matter what anyone tells me, they can't shake my beliefs. You might think I was disillusioning myself into thinking God was taking care of everything and when bad days happened, he was testing me. Maybe it was all in my head and I'm crazy. But I wasn't the one taking medication. Maybe some Motrin for my back, but that was about it.
QBALL85 2 months ago
@QBALL85
Strelnieks66 2 months ago
@QBALL85 " I don't see why it wouldn't." And I don't see why it would. Saying something can happen doesn't mean it actually is happening. And it's more honest and rational to not believe energy is being drained into some other dimension until evidence is provided that it is. If you choose your beliefs by what you want to believe you'll end up delusional. It's about what's real in reality.
Don't be so smug, implying I'm arrogant. I'm glad we were agreeing on something, not approving wtf
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@QBALL85 No, you're not entitled to your own facts. Opinions, yes. Two contradicting facts can't both be right. A god can't both exist and not exist. You're entitled to believe it exists as I'm entitled not to believe. But to say for example the earth is flat when it clearly isn't and to insist anyway, is delusional and ignorant etc etc. But when it comes to gods and afterlives there is no such conclusive evidence. To believe in spite of evidence is lying to yourself, so non-belief is rational.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense Well then I guess neither are you entitled to your own facts. Since there is evidence he exists, like you said, to believe in spite of evidence is lying to yourself. That includes believing he doesn't exist. I guess thats why when the scientific community started seeing evidence in intelligent design, those wanting to be "politically correct" shut them down and made it so it can't be taught in school.
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 "Since there is evidence he exists, like you said" I never said any such thing. There is no evidence for a god. The burden of proof is on the person making the positive claim, that is the theists. If someone came up to you saying he could turn into an invisible dragon, would you believe him? No, not without evidence. Without evidence, no belief. I don't have to disprove anything when nothing has been proven. Have you disproven Islam? No? So by your logic you can't not believe in Allah.
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense Islam, Christianity and Judaism worship the same God. The only difference is Muslims center their belief around Mohammed where as Christians center their belief around Jesus. "Allah" is simply arabic for God. Thats like saying God and Dios (Spanish for God) are different entities. As for God turning into an invisible dragon. He's God, he can do what the hell he wants. Though I don't know why he would since he associates dragons with Satan.
QBALL85 3 months ago
@QBALL85 the scientific community and the judge who ruled that intelligent design could not be taught in school recognised intelligent design to just be creationism in a different jacket, religion trying to sneak its way into schools where it has no place. There's no evidence for intelligent design, stupid. Creationism is ridiculous in any shape or form, but the christian one is particularly a doozy. A god that came from nothing to create a mudman and ribwoman and a talking snake fully formed...
viridismonasteriense 3 months ago
@viridismonasteriense Ah ok, so now your going to call me stupid. Remember when I called you deaf dumb and blind? Yeah, I rest my case. Some fucking explosion called "The Big Bang" is really going to create life, especially when you look at how complex the human body is. No fucking way. Thats why scientists started looking into the idea until thick headed jack ass atheist started saying, "Your sneaking religion into schools" and Thick headed brain washed morons like you, believed it.

But worshippers of the Ith'Nyeargh have an even better chance, because they ARE broadcasting their position, just not to Yahweh, but to the good gods.

I'll postulate that if you choose not to fall for the temptation and be consumed by the light being, other options may then be presented.
With all the near death stories that get distributed by the media and believers, all toughting that the "light" is god, imagine the potential horror of this not being the case.
Steaphany 9 months ago
@Steaphany
Or imagine the potential horror that that light is the light from God's oven!! After all, if there's light then one must wonder, what is the source of that light...!!!
chezkimo 6 months ago 2
presented by a beautiful being which will consume your soul only with your voluntary consent. If you choose to be eaten, well your gone, what ever is left of you is to know you made the wrong choice, like one of those monsters from Japanese manga and anime where all that's left of the consumed victims is their faces on the monsters surface and an awareness of their plight as more victims get consumed.
Steaphany 9 months ago
She described the light as beautiful and comforting. She then heard a voice instruct her to "come, join, and become a part of me" but before she could act, she was drawn back into her body as the surgery was concluding.
Now, why would a god thing have a desire to have souls fuse with it to become a single being ?
Here is another hypothesis for theists to contemplate, What if the light is your last temptation ? A test that you must take before anything else happens. You get
Steaphany 9 months ago
Lets contemplate the possibility that these experiences are real examples of the continuance of the consciousness beyond the biological shutdown of the brain and not a manifestation of the last moments of the brain experiencing it's own demise.
The gal being interviewed by Art Bell actually said that she met the god thingy. During a brain aneurysm surgery, her consciousness left her body, traveled through the tunnel towards the "light" and found that the light itself was the god.
Steaphany 9 months ago
I just posted this on facebook to a Pat Condell video and now I found this where it is highly appropriate as well:
I remember listening to the old "Coast to Coast" radio program when Art Bell had a program on Near Death Experiences. One guest told of her experience and the message that she carried away from it, which, to me, seemed quite horrific.

@BibleIsland Over generalizing much? Cherry picking much? Every group, from time to time, resorts to mockery. Practically everyone resorts to mockery of others at least once in their life. Humans have used mockery for comedy for thousands of years.

TV843 10 months ago
@TV843 They must have at least been absent minded. You may have noticed how they had to duck to get through the doorways inside their own spaceship. You'd think with the kind of technology needed to reach other civilizations, they'd be able to design spacecrafts that could accommodate their stature.

The other thing that fits the category is and un-embodied mind. God is a spirit and is the only one that meets the criteria needed to create the universe. I believe this is logical enough to justify my beliefs publicly. What's your take on this?
oneoftheservantsofjc 10 months ago
@oneoftheservantsofjc
no.
logical would be to start your assumption by "how did the universe come to be the way it is"..
and not "the universe was created...now let's see who did it"
alatheir 10 months ago
@oneoftheservantsofjc
knowing exactly what happened 14 billion years ago is a challenge even for science.
(yet keep in mind modern science is only about 400 years old)
but saying "we dont know yet" is a perfectly acceptable answer!
believing in god doesn't even answer "how did the universe become the way it is?" because you know nothing about the process in which god created the universe,so you know exactly as much if not less, than science.

science is not "all the answers about everything" science is a tool to get answers slowly by slowly...by gaining more and more information, while at the same time effectively filtering facts that are true, from garbage.
science is a process of learning...and as such you cant expect it to have all the answers right off the bat...then it would be a religion.
science teaches you how to think.
religion teaches you WHAT to think.

@whanethewhip Pseudo-god?
Vexille1983 10 months ago
@Vexille1983 The prefix "pseudo-" is used to mark something as false or fraudulent. Any so-called gods are pseudo-gods.
whanethewhip 10 months ago
@whanethewhip I understand what "pseudo" means. It just seemed like you were specifically marking out Baal for special treatment when you referred to him as a pseudo-god.
Vexille1983 10 months ago
@Vexille1983 Oh I see what you mean, you thought I was saying that some other god was real but that Baal was fake. That's my error for attaching that prefix to Baal only. I have an equal level irreverence for all so-called gods lol. If there is some god that is supreme in all ways then that would have to include morally supreme and I just cant picture a moral god asking for or even condoning worship.
whanethewhip 10 months ago
@whanethewhip - Or engages in megalomania of any kind. Megalomania would fall under the sin of pride; and given Yahweh is perfect, the sin of pride can't be committed. Now coupled with megalomania is another belief, not held by any rational being I know - that of might makes right. The Choich trid that one on Gallileo and issued its apology centuries later, when it would do him no good. Hmm. If they're wrong about that, what else are they wrong about? Oh noes! Opened that can of worms ...
