It's a real shame that Dhaos dies. I don't find him particularly evil and I even agree with his quote "If there is truly evil, it lies in the hearts of man." That is actually pretty truthful. Sigh...oh well.
@adikkuchan Depends...from the OVA perspective it seems like Dhaos isn't evil, however if you play the game his motives are different. He wants the mana to create a mana seed & use it's power to destroy the world, kind of a thing they left out here. In here they made it seem like he was trying to save his people, in the game they don't tell you that.
@xShinigamiRyukuux Here they stressed the "saving his people" more in the OVA vs. the game. In the game they stressed the mana shortage more than him saving his people. Dhaos tells you at the very end of the game that he wants to save his people. Other than that, it still remained about the same.
@ShredAimlessly92 Morrison said something related to it, but he was not 100% sure of what Dhaos had planned. Dhaos tells you himself what his plan is at the very end of the game.

Well, usually when you receive an injury of that caliber, your system kinda "collapses" and it may be that you dont even feel as much pain as you should ( even if you are still crouching in pain ) in that moment... but passed some minutes it starts hurting so much most people will just fall unconcious out of pain.
In fact, a lot of people who had heavy accidents say that they felt more pain in the hospital than in the moment of the accident.
Too bad they had a low budget during this. Thats the only reason why they had Dhaos die so easily.....I hope they can make more one day with him going Neo form and maybe Plume form. That would be awsome.
Here, Dhaos wasn't strong.

Oh I like Ragna's voice actor in Japanese, but his English one is a bit meh. I didn't pick Arthas though. Haven't played WoW in quite awhile.

Plume Dhaos is exclusively in the GBA and maybe PS1 version of Tales Of Phantasia.
So you won't find him anywhere else than those versions of the game.
