I get a lot of flak from "professional drag racers who make money drag racing for a living" (a bunch of wanna be's actually) saying why would you buy cams for sound instead of ones that produce horsepower. Well I haven't made a single dime racing and I did by the car based on looks. If I wanted hp I'd buy a car made for drag racing like a dragster not a street car lol

You get to spend about $900 bucks, waste lots more gas, and they're absolutely a blast to install lol. The cams are pretty much for that old school muscle car sound which is what I wanted. It was either $300-$700 for aftermarket mufflers which make the car sound nice but don't give the rough idle and are worth about 5hp or cams which have provided gains of 25hp and give that perfect sound.

If you have an automatic transmission YES! the cams are awesome! If you have a manual trans...maybe. It did take some getting used to because it's a whole different car. My wife picked it up faster than I did lol. You just have to let the clutch out at higher rpm's now that's about it.

Try a chambered pipe type muffler. The cam sounds good but the exhaust is very tin-ey. It would give you the throaty rumble,and also the cackle you have now when you get on it.

It's harder to take off from a stop. Give it too much gas and it spins the tires, too little gas and it'll hesitate. If I let the car get below 1500 rpm's in any gear it will start to buck so 4.10 gears or greater is a requirement.

@ButtPoopWiggle the 2011 v6 is a great car, although it really cant beat an 05-09 gt because there really isnt enough torque to get off of the line as fast. horsepower doesnt equal power, horsepower + torque does. also it will never sound as sexy as the v8. lol

hey bud i really dig the cams and the exhaust set up. I have an 06 and I put an offroad x pipe on it. The problem is that with the new pipe the o2 sensor trips the check engine light and also tells the computer to add more fuel. The car runs fine and I have been driving it for a few months. Does anyone have any answers or tips on what this could damage? Also how do those cams affect daily driving?

You need to turn the o2 sensors off with your tuner. You'll get no more CEL after that. The cams make daily driving a little more difficult but nothing terrible.

As far as the O2 sensors go, just use a tuner/reprogramer to erase the code so it won't keep coming up. Also, as long as you're running the stock manifolds and at least have mufflers, you won't have to worry about damaging your engine. However, if you end up adding headers later, you might want to switch to a catted pipe otherwise you take the risk of burning your valves. Hope that helps.

Ok i'm thinking about puttin some of them bad boys on my 08. So i have a question if you dont mind me asking. how did you keep the timing chain from coming of the bottom end (crank) gear? also did the timeing chain have to come off the top gear? if yes should I mark the Chain and gear to keep from getting it out of time?

My no special tools solution(redneck)=a rubber hose folded in half, it worked fine. I had to take the cam gears (phasers) off in order to put phaser limiters in. I did mark the cam gear and timing chain in two places to ensure I had that on correctly.

oh what do the phaser limters do?

i have in mind you can adjust the timing with them but i also know that the cumputer can advance or retard the timing enough for what ever you may need. Correct me if im wrong.

They adjust the cam timing. You'll need either limiters or lockouts if you use Thumpr cams. Bamachips has a complete package with all you need. That's where I bought mine.

the easiest way to make your valve clearance... whitout the cam phaser limiter the valve would knock on the top of your pistons ,the other way is to have a set of notched piston ..!

The cam part numbers are 127020. I just checked bamachips and they have a great package deal. Cams, lockouts,CMVC plates and one tune for $899.00. He don't sell phaser limiters anymore because of cam fluctuation at high rpm's.
