  • I was 16 when I saw this movie in 1956 and was quite overcome. I thought then that Kim Novak was quite the most beautiful and sensuous woman I had ever seen. I still think that.

  • Oops...she is 78 not 75. But she can still park her slippers under my bed any night she wants!

  • @samuelf44 You're too cute!!

  • This is an awesome video. Great job. Holden and Novak exuded sex appeal in the Moonglow dance scene. She was a real beauty...and still is at age 75. Wonderfully romantic movie. Why don't they make them like this anymore? Awesome montage Katie. I saw it for the first time when I was 12 with my dad, and I remember him telling me that "Czech" girls (both of Kim's parents were of Czech origin) were the most beautiful girls in the world. After all these years I realized he was spot on!

  • Love it i hope you will keep this on forever..She is so beautifull and that dance i will never forget all my life. She still looks beautifull today and i hope she gets credit for all her movies thta she derserved.

  • Beautiful montage and that music starting at 4:55 all in 7:35. Very nice!!

  • I watched this movie at Andrews Air Force Base in the mess hall in 1956 as I waited for the Air Force to fly this Navy man to Puerto Rico. From there, i'd be flown to Antigua in the then BWI. Eighteen and feeling footloose and glad to be free of my hometown, I identified with Hal Carter as I set in the dark, enjoying a cup of coffee and sucking on my Luckies. Tonight, I showed this movie to my wife who wouldn't be born until 1960. It was a thrill, the usual nostalgic tears.

  • @bopteebop I was on an Air Force Base about the same time. I was in the National Guard and at this base for a two week tour. It was boring as hell. The only thing you could do was drink beer in the PX, get drunk and wind up sleeping in somebody else's bunk by mistake. Get into a fist fight over it and wake up in you own bunk, wondering why your face was swollen and your head hurt.

  • @bopteebop Thank you so much for sharing your memories of watching this movie when you were in the Navy & of sharing it with your wife. I think it's great when we can share special times like that with someone we love. I hope your wife enjoyed the movie.

    God Bless!

  • Thanks for sharing this. It was cut lovely and the music perfect.

  • @Lainer1 You're very welcome!! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!! :)

  • @Lainer1 The town in Picnic is pretty much like where Kim Novak came from.

  • does anyone else think that charlize theron looks like kim novak?

  • @dalmationham Now that you mention it she does look like Charlize Theron...they are both very beautiful.

    Katie =^,,^=

  • @BadZKarma99 Kim Novak is slovak. Charlize Theron is South African.

  • I know the Morris Stoloff orchestra plays the Moonglow/picnic theme, but does anyone know who is playing the piano?

  • C'est tellement "bon" ! i n'y a pas de mot pour dire je t'aime , le silence, la danse, les regards, la musique ! j'aimerai voir ce film sur les écrans télé en france ...j'avais 9 ans en 55 !

  • I had the great fortune of meeting Daniel Taradash back in 1991,during a Film Festival in Spain. A legend of screen-writing (he was the writer of Oscar-winning 'From Here to Eternity' as well). Excellent conversation with him, remembering the golden age of Hollywood... I am proud of this memory, and seeing images of this movie makes me share it with you all.

Bless you, Mr. Taradash. I wish nowadays' film writing still had the quality of those times!

  • @ismaelrionda Thanks for sharing your memories of Mr.Taradash & the Golden age of Hollywood!! I enjoyed reading your comments & I'm sure many others will too!! I agree with you about the quality of the films back then..they just don't make movies like that now..sad. :(

    God Bless!

  • @BadZKarma99 You are very welcome. Thanks to you for uploading this beautiful music and the different scenes from the film.

The day I can use a time machine, I will travel to the year 1949. I will then stay and live throughout the wonderful 1950's, enjoying their music, films and overall atmosphere. If I ever get to do this, "Moonglow" will be my soundtrack, accompanying me wherever I go.

  • @ismaelrionda It would be nice to have a time machine..I think we all have a time period we would love to visit or live in..I love the 40's-60's..I would love to be able to visit that time period. I agree with you the 50's was a magical time & Moonglow would be a very nice song to accompany you if you were able to go.

Thank you so much for your kind comments about my video!! :)

    God Bless!!

  • Adoro este filme. ( I love is movie) Brasil

  • @leudrerrep I was surprised too that noone commented but I figured it was probably because the movie is not that well known but whatever the reason I am honored to have you be the first to comment!

The editing was a little tricky because I'm a perfectionist & the reason it looks so fresh is because I found the movie at YT & used that footage..if I had used my old tape footage it would have been very poor quailty.

I love the music too!! :)

    I think she would've found him. :)
