So help me, I wasn't raised in some remote location, void of all technology..(Los Angeles, CA USA..to be precise), none-the-less, I never really got with with the continued Abba thing. I always liked the music on the (oldies) radio stations, but only now am I am to see the videos and images from this intriguing time..of these talented and compelling artists.

What can I say? I have been inthralled with ABBA since I was a boy of 12. Every saturday I would go hang at the Monmouth Mall in NJ, and hang out at Sam Goody and by the 45s they had of ABBA. I stil do not what it is to this day that the passion that I have for there music still burns in my soul. The harmonics, lyrics and the music it self, sung by 4 , more than talented artists is awesome and catchy.
Frida has that once in a life time look. Vivien Leigh had it, Elizabeth Taylor had it, and so does frida, Those green eyes and dark hair, absolutely stunningly beautiful, and that unique voice, the power.......brilliant!
Sorry, its Frida for me, ever since I was in my twenties its the twinkle in her eyes. I'm now in my sixties and she still does it for me. We have aged together and she is still enchanting.

It seems like a majority of their last videos depicted sad breakups, even when the lyrics to the songs didn't. Please don't get me wrong, but it seems like overkill. "The Day Before You Came" to me, is kind of spooky but not sad. The video, on the other hand, is dark. The same goes for this video. "When All is Said and Done" is about two people who are, well, guess what, breaking up. But there's no bitterness or sadness in the lyrics. Thoughts?
The band members have openly said that their divorces were inspiration for their later hits. This one deals with Frida's divorce from Benny. Their is no bitterness here - just an acknowledgement that the end of a road has been reached unlike. Frida has said that this song captures all her sadness. I think it's probably the best song they ever made and a it's a real shame that it wasn't released as a single.
@theotherwayin It was indeed released as a single, but only in US, where it charted bad... Unfortunately, the last songs of ABBA weren't very successful at the time they were released... That was a real shame, people love ABBA now, but in the beginning of the 80's their popularity was rapidly declining... I think this also contributed to the group break-up...
@mikislomossu A few things you should know; While WAISAD wasn't the same level as DQ, TACOM, or TWTIA, the song reached #27 on the Hot 100, #10 on the Adult Contemporary chart & even hit #7 on the Dance chart, so you can't say it charted bad. Can't say the same about Australia, where it fell flat at #81.
@infernokid1990 However, US were really "unfair" with ABBA... They wanted to conquer that country with their songs, and they didn't succeed... they only got one #1 hit there! And, for me, this doesn't deserve a #7, this is a definite #1!! Sure one of their best song! It's a pity ABBA went through the divorces of the members and finally split up mainly for that... In their last videoclips, they all seem sad... But, luckily, this inspired them and their last songs are fantastic!!

To show how popular it is, it's the 10th longest running show in Broadway history. So in a sense they have conquered America, albeit belatedly.
They were getting better as they were breaking up, damn it. This is one of their best songs ever, and the last - "The day before you came" - is even better.
The abba compostions really grew over time. If you compare the first songs they did, they have a much more simple structure and chord progressions. Later, they apparently 'found out' the use of using different tonality's inside a progression, which can be used for a wider variety of emotions, such as the "strange" emotions in the chord progression "the day before you came" , or "the visitors". I believe they both contain notes from another scale. scales and chords always facinate me

I have always appreciated the wonderful songs of ABBA and how it brings back such wonderful memories of my youth. The songs even today still tug at my emotional strings and evoke touching feelings. I may sound sappy or corny, though I still am in awe of how amazing a time this group played as a part of my young life.

Frida has that once in a life time look. Vivien Leigh had it, Elizabeth Taylor had it, and so does frida, Those green eyes and dark hair, absolutely stunningly beautiful, and that unique voice, the power.......brilliant!

Sorry, its Frida for me, ever since I was in my twenties its the twinkle in her eyes. I'm now in my sixties and she still does it for me. We have aged together and she is still enchanting.

It seems like a majority of their last videos depicted sad breakups, even when the lyrics to the songs didn't. Please don't get me wrong, but it seems like overkill. "The Day Before You Came" to me, is kind of spooky but not sad. The video, on the other hand, is dark. The same goes for this video. "When All is Said and Done" is about two people who are, well, guess what, breaking up. But there's no bitterness or sadness in the lyrics. Thoughts?

The band members have openly said that their divorces were inspiration for their later hits. This one deals with Frida's divorce from Benny. Their is no bitterness here - just an acknowledgement that the end of a road has been reached unlike. Frida has said that this song captures all her sadness. I think it's probably the best song they ever made and a it's a real shame that it wasn't released as a single.

@theotherwayin It was indeed released as a single, but only in US, where it charted bad... Unfortunately, the last songs of ABBA weren't very successful at the time they were released... That was a real shame, people love ABBA now, but in the beginning of the 80's their popularity was rapidly declining... I think this also contributed to the group break-up...

@mikislomossu A few things you should know; While WAISAD wasn't the same level as DQ, TACOM, or TWTIA, the song reached #27 on the Hot 100, #10 on the Adult Contemporary chart & even hit #7 on the Dance chart, so you can't say it charted bad. Can't say the same about Australia, where it fell flat at #81.

@infernokid1990 However, US were really "unfair" with ABBA... They wanted to conquer that country with their songs, and they didn't succeed... they only got one #1 hit there! And, for me, this doesn't deserve a #7, this is a definite #1!! Sure one of their best song! It's a pity ABBA went through the divorces of the members and finally split up mainly for that... In their last videoclips, they all seem sad... But, luckily, this inspired them and their last songs are fantastic!!

@mikislomossu You are right. They didn't conquer the States then, but with the musical & movie ''Mamma Mia!'', they finally left their mark on the United States. To show how popular it is, it's the 10th longest running show in Broadway history. So in a sense they have conquered America, albeit belatedly.

The abba compostions really grew over time. If you compare the first songs they did, they have a much more simple structure and chord progressions. Later, they apparently 'found out' the use of using different tonality's inside a progression, which can be used for a wider variety of emotions, such as the "strange" emotions in the chord progression "the day before you came" , or "the visitors". I believe they both contain notes from another scale. scales and chords always facinate me

One of the best performances ever by Frida.
But, man oh man, when Agnetha at around 1:30 sings and stares into the camera, all the ice in Sweden melted. Plus, when she turns around.....there has never been a more stunning woman, ever!!!!!!!

felt good to be together BUT life has a way of teaching lessons that hurt....When they were together they discovered , as so many do , just because it feels good
does not mean it IS good...so many differences appear AFTER the fact that the fact becomes clear it was a bad dicesion agreed to too fast...thus the break up....

I have always appreciated the wonderful songs of ABBA and how it brings back such wonderful memories of my youth. The songs even today still tug at my emotional strings and evoke touching feelings. I may sound sappy or corny, though I still am in awe of how amazing a time this group played as a part of my young life.

The first time I heard this track,back in 2001,I felt it was reminiscent of one of those tunes that play out durin the end of one of those FEELGOOD,COMIN-OF-AGE flicks-at the end of a high-school graduation,the end of a marriage or relationship etc. My eyes started to water durin the lines "Standin calmly at the crossroads,no desire to run,theres no hurry anymore when All is Said and Done". it was almost as if I d been part of their journey. Mournful lyrics of a sad song that reflects the death throes of the Swedish foursome ABBA. The lyrics reflect the emotional undertones of separation,sadness and the realization that the time had come for the group members to go their separate ways...Sad song indeed.
