It's not that I'm big a fan of him as an actor, but 10 years ago Aamir Khan started his own film productions, and really, his films are great! They are different from other bollywood movies. It's not only about love, but every film of him has a special theme, a message for the indian society. Every single movie of AK is great. I could advice you:

The Deepa Mehta Trilogy: "Earth", "Fire" and "Water". "Black" (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) is also an hard movie. And of course "Salaam Bombay" (Mira Nair) a very sad but good movie. Guess what? I live in Spain and I really think that if we would show those kind of movies like RDB, they would suffer the censure!! And they say US India is an underdeveloped country, I think EurOpe is mucho more poor! We have a very closed mind.

There are many movies that do not focus on love or romance. Taare Zameen Par is one such movie par excellence. It is on an entirely different concept but I guess you'll definitely like it. Swades is a movie that is somewhat similar to RDB in terms of reminding ppl of their responsibility towards a developing society. 'Fashion' is another interesting movie.

But I agree with you that such flicks don't come up as regularly as the usual love-affair types do..
