He's quite wrong. From my experience you want 2gHz (or more) processor speed, Dual to Quad Core or better. 4gb of ram or more. a few 500gb or 1Tb hard drives, one for the Operating System and software and the others for audio. Thats what is needed for a recording studio computer.
nah probably not comfortable befor a cam, many people are, focusing on the cam instead of what they are saying. but ok for now the demands are alot higher, and for a vid uploaded in 2007 your specs seems small even at that time, especially for a recording studio. but maybe a home user could usa a setup like that and survive, but it would have to be the minimum requirement when it comes to cpu and ram, and not whats recommended.
5. 4 USB ports, and with new hardware preferably USB 2.0
6. atleast 1 Firewire port.
If you dont know what fire wire is, bring your computer to bestbuy, go to the Geek squad kiosk, tell them u want a 6 pin fire wire card, preferably 800 MB p/s. make sure they install the driver too.
once you have all that, you have a decent computer ready for a home studio
I cannot believe he said alteast a gigabyte of processor!!! lmaOooooo. He has no idea what he's talking about. Now that is comedy. A large HD - 80gb lmaOo. Aww mannnn. Good stuff.
An audio recording tutorial with bad audio (60 & 120 cycle hum and something that sounded like a crumpled recording tape, probably really bad audio compression). Best example of irony I've seen in a while.
If you are using MIDI or Computer recording, this is a great accessory: "Over-the-keys stand". It is available on ebay time-to-time. I could not find it anywhere else.
hey everyone. i don't know where to go to ask this question. so im dropping it here now =]. please help me out. I read alot on the internet about core2duos being good for recording pcs. What about the quadcores now? Are they fitted for recording?
The more processors you have, the better it is. It depends on the software. It has to recognize multi-processing. As time goes by, more and more softwares will be available for multi processing. Cubase 4 and 5 recognizes multi-processing. I have a quadcore 3 gigs (4 processors) computer and it works perfect.
i just built my quadcore setup running Sonar 8 Producer edition, Motu Hd 192, Motu 1296....im in heaven!!! I sold my Protools Hd1 setup 4 years ago due to financial problems...couldnt afford to get it again so I went another direction...and I tell you what...it runs bit for bit with the PT HD...
LOL, i dont know much about PC's, i only did an IT course for a couple weeks and quit, but i know more than this guy seems to know, since when did proccessors have speeds in gigabytes?

A gigabyte processor!!! wow! Anyway, the spec u've described here is not a high configuration. Most netbooks have this configuration now a days. LOL.

A gigabyte of processor?
wtf? are you on crack, pretending to know what you're talking about.
For one thing, processor speed is measured in hertz, or cycles/second.
You're probably talking about RAM.
(Nobody learnt anything from this)
