  • i wouldn't be surprised if the aliens were just trolling

  • what happens next?! did everyone die?

damn, now i have to watch the movie.

  • enigmOn brought you here? :P

  • got to love John Williams, so many great movies, and none of them would be great if it wasn't for him.

  • hi guys if you like scifi, please checkout my new tshirt and apparel store it can be found here, cafepress'dot'com/jmcks I'm so suprised how many people like my store, and how much it has taken off, it consists of numerous topics, but its main theme is aliens, ufos dinosaurs, zombies, scifi, spirituality, religion and world mysteries, however i have quite a few animal designs such as cats, tigers, wolves etc. thanks to everyone who visits my site and helps me continue in what ilove best which is design

  • @1:20 Schooled!

  • What if this actually happened?O.O

  • One of, if not the, best movie I've ever seen.

  • simon says vodoo

  • One of the best things about this movie, is that it actually completes & is pure success, in making the film strange.. Even then when they climbed the mountain, it's pure entertainment imo. This is well worth the watch, since it starts out with a glimpse' of the "UFO's" which could be anything really, but ends up with such an amazing and bizzare situation.

  • Oh hey! Have you tried - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my GF got hot 6 pack abs and lost crazy amounts of belly fat with it.

  • "We are here to destroy your planet"

    "What was that?"

"We. Are here. To. Destroy you"

"You are here to help us?"

    "No...destroy you"

    "Save us..."

    "Awh fuck it...let's leave guys"

  • kids smashing the keyboard inside the ship.

  • there's a brass band on board haha

  • Wonderful scene from a great movie. While the chances of ever meeting another lifeform is remote to say the least, there's always the potential of communication. Maths and Music are the likely tool from which we'd communicate.

  • i so love me a passacaglia...

  • when i was younger i would shit my brains out laughing because it sounded like farts in the beggining

  • @tyrelroo i so aqree!

  • @bandanajack I just love the idea that first contact is a jam session.

  • thumbs up if scooby1961 brought u here

  • Anyone else hear the Jaws -theme from 2:06 onwards?

  • I love how they just walk onto a government research site and no one cares/notices

  • This movie is made of awesome..

  • EnigmOn brought me here, damned

  • Okay I watched this movie in my humanities class and loved it! I may be getting too analytical here, but does anyone know if the tune they play throughout the movie has any meaning behind it? That's the only question I really have about this movie!

  • and when one of them tries to enter the musical clip used here - the first 5 notes - it is proved invalid.

  • I was just about to type something into a story I'm writing: There's a high-security research facility that needs to be entered, but it doesn't just take a radio confirmation, they need a sound and color code for clearance as well. Otherwise, the guards won't let the characters go in.

  • Me and my dad watched this movie and there at devils tower. I liked this movie, it was sad when the little kid was ubducted by alians. But at least he was brought back.

  • sounds like an adult from Charlie Brown

  • I think it is time to come out with a second movie. The ending of this movie leaves it WIDE open for a sequal. So, what is Spielberg waiting for? Dreyfuss and Garr are still alive they'd make it come alive just like the original. Besides this classic will hit about 2-3 generations. I was born 1974, my mom and I still love it-we are actually watching it now on TCM. Spielberg could make a FORTUNE especially with technology the way it is now BOY! Just remember you heard it here 1st!

  • @eboniequen11

A sequel will never be made. This movie is NOT set up for a sequel at all. I'm half your age and even I know well enough that some movies just don't need sequels. Close Encounters is the best science fiction ever made, imo, so don't get the wrong idea.

  • Like this if it makes you poop every time.

  • 1:04 what are we saying to each other....its a motherfucking DJ battle bitch, get your face on!!!

  • First time I saw this movie: AUGUST 2011 I heard about it alot but until that date I watched it Why? I DO NOT KNOW

  • Was there a hint of "Jaws" ?

  • @mikjing There certainly was! Its the same composer

  • @mikjing Seeming as John Williams wrote the score for this film and also the score for Jaws I wouldn't doubt it :)

  • I like how the jaws theme comes in at the end. SHARK!

  • I think everyone was suddenly surprised in the theater in 1977 when 0:16 showed up xD

  • you must use the force

  • Does anybody know the name of this tune?

  • @andrewwwessel The Dialogue

  • daft punk are inside the ship

  • lmaoo ! funny shit

  • 847681 comedians have watched this

  • So that was the first Jean Michel Jarre show in USA

  • lol I just taught myself the bass line at 1:12

  • 45 people walked off the ship.

  • What do you get when you cross a UFO and an Outhouse ?! Close Encounters of the Turd Kind ! Ha ha ha ha ha This is Stupid ! Real aliens don't need an organ to communicate . They use Telepathy Morons !!

  • They look like Paul XD

  • After Disaster!

  • first form electro ever made

  • Notice how John Williams stops the music at 2:08 for a statement of his JAWS theme from the aliens.

  • The aliens apparantly have many steam boats to function as their pipe organs.

  • OK Men...Who's good at Simon?!

  • Jesus Christ... what if we played Skrillex to the aliens... imagine the possibilities.

  • Near the end it sounded like jaws

  • @VerlindeTV John Williams did the music for this movie, AND Jaws, so it's not surprising.

  • Hey The heardhorse, give your parents/s a break and move out. Get a job and learn how to spell. If this country is so terrible, why don't you go live in Pakistan? I did for three years.

  • ladies and gentlemen! composer john williams entirety!

he got the oscar 1977 not for close encounters because he gots the oscar for star wars. yes, he was nominated two times in one year! great man, thanks john for your scores! you are the master :-)

  • @Frederik5495 YES!!!

  • broke character and dignity because I do not think there is anything that would shock this nation's conscience anymore HU as long as a book wraps it all up but I guess we will never know if not writing mine actually saved a real life in the mix of things...

  • ..is an interesting side show because like everything that came before it this pen was put to paper before the first page of history was ever written and one thing you can never predict war criminal, coward, traitor is how it set the stage so don't even worry about if you are left or right, just help the most sadistic government in the world turn you into the nastiest and most frightening place on earth so you sink so low that even reading about how great we are is all you need to reset your...

  • Because I care so much about my pen HU, that I do not give a fuck if it ever writes my book because unlike the one's set over 100,000 dead civilians, 5000 dead US soldiers, the complete collapse of rule of law and the end to every meaningful principle of democracy, not being a shameful pig and putting it to paper only revealed the answers to some of the most profound questions in human history-even though how I survived Shameful George's execution to the point of full blown covert military rule.

  • Comment removed

  • ...collapse of rule of law and human rights because there is absolutely no society on the face of the earth that treats life as a bigger joke but reality always wins...

  • because when life is a joke the first time around trash in- trash out but the difference a liberal makes is that everyone can profit from it because everyone has to roll in it, literally

But take a good look HU and figure out why your fuckin nation has nothing to worry about as one sick bitch and profiteering flake mutually benefit each other over 5000 dead US soldiers and 100,000 civilians cause only this American audience would accept a book in exchange for the complete...

  • .but because one backfired so badly this piece of journalistic garbage only occurred during a time when full blown extrajudicial military rule is being set up -because the slaughter of life was to great and collapse of our principles complete -and every profiteering flake from across the entire social spectrum is being sunk into as humiliating of a position as possible -that would only compromise their very similar checks-if America learned any measure of truth about what they treasure most

  • Comment removed

  • ...of security over here - while we were at war for no reason over there -only wiped all measure of liberty right off the face of the earth and not even to ensure that smallest measure of security but for shameful George and Poet criminal defense where the best policy to ensure that measure of security is to use extrajudicial force to covertly destroy anyone that has any potential of being a threat to any interest but in the most brutal ways so there is no proof said policy exists...

  • Comment removed

  • ...but since my profiteering flakes and CI Senators took their responsibility so seriously the first time around why not further desecrate it and have the former secretary of state say it gives her the warm and fuzzies for the country that can't wait for us to get the fuck out to at least be living closer to a democracy like ours after all they suffered through-but this time it was after full blown DOD extrajudicial rule was installed because somehow ensuring the very smallest measure...

  • ...because when W's political trash goes on live TV during Poet's tenure and actually lays down what the vital interest underlays were in case their were no WMD -since an extraordinarily easy way to verify them could have only been negative, you sort of have to fuckin ask yourself who the only people were that could make that classification at that time and why they even bothered if they had such a strong case...

  • .. but using our rock solid "principles" as a pre-baked fail safe back drop to justify the destruction of a nation via 100,000 graves and over 5000 citizens coming home in body bags for absolutely no other reason the first time around is another...

  • because making what is least important to every America as emotionally stimulating as possible- against what is least likely to ever effect or destroy anyone's life - while the most destructive consequence moving forward automatically erases any real measure of a potential that would have never materialized is one thing...

  • would probably go off the fuckin charts...

Because it is one thing to go on live TV and using less camera's than I have fingers, to outright lie and sell this country its most destructive and unnecessary war in its history, because the social pressure cooker got turned up just a little under our profiteer flakes,

  • Do you honestly have any lawful proof that this is just part of some major extrajudicial operation to derail your ambitions cause how stupid do you think Americans are after we vetted these facts?

Because the funny thing is HU that just in the last couple of days as the covert extrajudicial DOD force further hardened, my war criminal, traitor, and coward, using the very very lightest spectrum of stellar wind, knows exactly where I hid my favorite pen-and uranium or processed plutonium...

  • Whats the first thing you do when you see a space ship?

    Run? NO

    Make fucking music

  • ATTENTION: There has been confirmation that a sequel starring Richard Dreyfuss is in the works...the wheels are in motion. This information was obtained at great risk to someone losing their job....

Not sure if Spielberg is on board for this project but his name has been floating around if at least for credibility. There has been immense pressure from the fans to release a sequel to this movie and it seems the major players have relented

    More news to follow....stay tuned

  • 42 people were abducted and never returned... Good riddance

  • THE 40 WHO THUMBED DOWN ARE IN A STEEL BOX MENTALLY.

    JESUS GOT THE KEY.

    THE WARRIOR HAS SPOKEN.

  • The music was so LOUD and POWERFUL it shattered the glass!!! then at the end of the song the music got deep bass that simply was warning the scientists not to try to hurt them or it would be DANGER. AWESOME thanks for the vid.

    the WARRIOR has spoken.

  • JAJA EL ENSAYO DE @NortecCollectiv EN EL ESTADIO #gdl PARA LOS #PANAMERICANOS @OMAR_TAVARES

  • you must use the fooorceeee

  • this part made no sense. the movie was serious until they started playing classical music.

  • @TheShootTruth10 Makes perfect sense. Throughout the movie they built up everyone who had encountered the aliens had (just like the image of Devil's Tower) in their minds had this basic 5 note score. The aliens were trying to teach humans a tone based form of communication. This scene was their way of trying to communicate with the humans below. If you paid attention to the film this part was built up throughout with the music score being a major motif

    .

  • such an awesome alien movie coz they just have a CONCERT instead of invading EARTH..

  • @ 1:24 the aliens are playing their own "danger music" lol

  • Clearly they are an alien species that instead of breathing oxygen breaths LSD. See you on the dark side of the moon space men.

  • @34rodzilla Epic.

  • EnigmOn level 9 answer is purple blue red yellow and green, in that order

  • @hash12121212 It doesn' work for me :/

  • LOL this song make my litle brother too happy!!! thx man!

  • *music* TUM TUM? silence... tum tum? tum? tum tum tum! tum.... *door opens and everyone runs away screming*

  • Two jokes went through my head during this scene:

    1. When I heard the tune the ship was playing, I was thinking, "Either the aliens are trying to communicate with us, or they're playing Simon."

    2. When the ship and the control people started playing the tune together, I was thinking, "We are SO ready for band practice!"

  • Stephen Spielberg just had to throw in the JAWS theme song from 1975. As long as it doesn't start playing the old A&W theme I'd say it's still an excellent film.

  • I would like to see this comment from the scientists: "this is incredible. She came from half way across the universe and she sounds like a common tuba..."

  • Enigmon

  • @maxsoundtrack how do you solve level 9 ?!?!?!?!:|

  • @matzulak I think is something related to the colors and sound in the begining of the video, when the music start playing

  • Do they take bookings?

  • they come from system planetary of east andromeda galaxy for playing a music to night ! me I say it's cool!

  • 240p we meet again!

  • Peter Griffin's bottom

  • Best JAM session of ANY time !

  • Lol Duelling Ufo's

  • There will be consequences for thumbing down my comment !!

  • Awesome movie!

  • Classical Dubstep.

  • some say this is based on a true story that the very quiet americans in suits that dont tell stuff .....did indeed meet aliens and in fact exchange humans and material stuff ...that led to the very making of the microwave ....and indeed your out of date stealth plane ....

  • Re Mi Do Do Sol

  • i let my children play with their mashed potatoes.

  • hehe .. Disco UFO =)

  • This is the best UFO/Alien movie according to myself.Todays movies that kids watch are just to bloody and too gory.

  • @timmni. They played Simon.

  • one question!

how did the humans know how to respond to the aliens when the pace picked up?

  • This is such a great movie. A true classic. Brings back great memories from the 1970's

  • The perfect John Williams movie. Where else can a composer get to show off than a movie about extra terrestrials who communicate through music?

  • A E I O U

     A E I O U A E I O U

  • 11101 11101 11101

  • That guy played a duet with an alien ship. What did you do today?

  • @aang94479

    Nothing he was abducted :P

  • I saw this in the 70's at a drive in!

  • @DrEfremov боюсь, что уничтожат все 100%... I'm afraid they would destroy 100%

  • DO YOU KNOW WHY IT PLAYED THE JAWS THEME? NO SHOCK MUSIC WAS USED AS WORLD LANGUAGE LOOK AT LINGUISTS WHO WORKED TOGETHER

MAYBE BECAUSE THAT FIL;M HAS INFLUENCED MORE PEOPLE THAN ANY OTHER THE EARTH IS BLUE FROM SPACE WE CAME OUT OF THE WATER LOOKING TOWARD THE LIGHT.WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU THINK OF EVERYTIME YOU GO IN THE SEA SINCE YOU WATCHED THAT FILM.WHAT HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO MEET? THE SMARTER YOU ARE THE MORE YOU SEEM TO WANT IT .

LOVE EACH OTHER MOVE TOWARDS THE LIGHT ;¬ )

  • We thanks to Steven Spielberg to created this classic.

  • this is likely closer to the truth than cowboys n aliens

  • This fantastic scene proves me, that "hollywood" sometimes is better than real life!

  • folks who disliked this need to be abducted by the grey ones xD

  • @TheNightOwl1981

the ones who disliked this are greys themselves, who thought these aliens were too gay.

bastards, they give me shivers. this is my favorite movie ever

  • @TheOutsiderInside lol yes, this is one of my favorites too!

  • Thumbs up if you were thinking of any song by Boston during this movie...

  • @DedmenY How bout, no

  • why didnt the ufo play darth vaders song? :(

  • Wow he used to make such good movies. So sad. And he's gonna ruin Chocky. Even sadder.

  • What is the title of the song when the aliens land?

  • They Should Have played rick astley instrumental

  • @Makaveli175 Earthlings got ROLLED.

  • "What are we saying to each other?"

  • Look at how we all Americans are in good shape!!! Awsome!

  • Another masterpiece by Speilberg!

  • FANTASIA 3000

  • Lol, the ship played the JAWS theme at the end.

  • @DarthP00P00 I bet the whole convo was a warning to that universe's Spielberg to avoid making a film involving Sea World and a giant shark.

  • @DarthP00P00 funny because speilberg did Jaws and Dreyfuss was in it. And John Williams did both.

  • @DarthP00P00 A little joke thrown in by John Williams I suppose.

  • @DarthP00P00 Nice catch ;-)

  • @DarthP00P00 Right ;)

  • @DarthP00P00

These aliens must be fans of Jaws, or maybe this is an easter egg, you know, cause they are made by the same people, heck, even John Williams was in Jaws. :P

    True classic. :D

  • @DarthP00P00 noo ! he was playin the INCEPTION sountrack !

  • @DarthP00P00 Nice job catching that!

  • This has to be one of the best scenes in movie history :D

  • dothedaft.. lol

  • Music...the universal language!

  • Love that part at the end with the Jaws reference

  • nobody?

  • I want to play this on the xylophone!

  • Trololol

  • It's like an epic game of Simon.

  • try and find a spoof of this by the goodies.

  • Such an awesome movie...Every alien movie has the aliens want to kill everything. In this one they just want to make some music and take us for a little ride...

  • @Toadsworth Yeah this was back when Spielberg had talent and nobody knew who he was.

  • @Toadsworth Yeah this was back when Spielberg had talent and nobody knew who he was.

  • @Toadsworth They just want to serve man...

  • @Toadsworth dont forget Et, also by Spielberg
