The reason stooges had an appeal is because of this cartoonish physical comedy along with the cartoon like sound effects. A lot of the cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Loony Tunes wouldn't have an audience if slapstick comedy wasn't popular then. So I believe your just making stuff up.
