the old resident evil games were a lot different than the new ones, now all it is, is Chris Redfield on steroids using 0% of his brain and 100% brute force, instead of looking for a way around a door, you just kick it down, its sad to see good games go this way. :(
@eatmyfish02 I know. Chris went from 5'9", 170lbs to 6'2" 220lbs. He went from average guy to body builder. In the past that average build kinda mede me feel like you were relying on his military training and marksmanship to pull through.

hmmm i still play resident evil zero on gamecube and notwii, and i still play it to this very day, but it seems intersting what it would be like on N64, cuz i stil play old systems, they couldve atleast made it for N64
@infernorock11 I disagree, The controls needed some tweaking (perhaps dodges and strafing), and sometimes (rarely) you could get jammed in between two different angles,causing unfocused combat and lag.
4 was a lot of fun, and clearly was an RE game, even though it did not have quite as much atmosphere or as many scares. 5 was a ball of crap. I mean, it's fun, but the game literally is NOTHING like Resident Evil. It's so different that if it wasn't called RE5 It would make more sense.REMake FTW.

I think the n64 was underrated. would it have a cd drive and some tweaks in the hardware architecture it could be awesome. look at what some later n64 games did on cartridge.

Capcom stated that Revelations will be a survival horror game. 1)zombies, 2)mutations, 3) HORROR, 4)hunk,5) WALKING AND AIMING AND SHOOTING!( was outbreak 2 the only game you could do it with...really)(oh ppl with no skill will spam the shit out of the FPS just like they will in mercenaries3D), 6) T-virus/veronica virus/G, 7)mansion setting in a boat, 8) snow level. capcom said the 3D would help with the horror thats why 3DS was a good option. plus the touch screen will help with weapons!M3D too
you were ALONE!!! and i think it was actually meant to be in south america based on the first info released on it (remember, im trying to think back to 6 years ago. don't criticize me). but that was used for the darkside chronicles. 0 is great. it does not suck. its a good game. involves alot of thinking too. Darkside Ch. would've been better if they didnt make it like HotD. wouldve been better like RE3.5. atleast it had ZOMBIES!(4 is still good) i still like Darkside though.

4 was not a total departure. it still had some horror. if you didn't feel horror then you were obviously too grown to even horror in anything anymore. 4 has plenty but not as much as 0 1 2 3 & CD/CDX. it had some suspense too back it up. 5 was a failure. all it had was action and suspense. only the part with so much lickers had like 5% horror b/c you didnt want them to know you were there. 4 wouldve been better like ppl say if they kept the 3rd version combined with the 2nd and 4th version.
@dessan18 yeah and i agree, RE series was getting stale with the zombies, it was great the thought of a new virus, and when i 1st played RE4 when it came out i was like "where the hell are the Zombies" then now im like "kewl no zombies" lol all the zombies did on the originals were grab and bite i like RE4 cause the enemy actually can use different attacks and gives you a bit of a better battle. and the Ogre was a good edition to the list of RE monsters. Id rate RE4 a 9.5/10.
RE4 was and still is one of the best RE titles. The Downfalls were RE5. it was just horrible in my opinion way off topic. RE Outbreak 1/2 were also downfalls. RE 1/2/3/4 Code Veronica were the best. Zero on the otherhand i never really got into it. RE4 had such a captive storyline along with the game. and i liked the idea of being able to upgrade my gun from some pimped out merchant. You cant sit there and tell us that When the merchant opened his coat and revealed it all u was like WHOA! lol
@MrBoiDope yes Resi 4 I think was the most addicting one of the series aswell. Eventhough it's not like the predecessors, history told us that alot of people got sick with the staleness of resi because it didn't change much. I look back at resi4 and think to myself, wow this game was not only great, but it was also the first game to introduce the over the shoulder camera which many TPS games use nowadays. I only wish Mikami would come back and blow away us again
When this game was announced for N64, I got pretty excited!!...., but when it was cancelled and port to the Gamecube, I gave thanks the game got upgraded!

So in order to make people stop bitching I think they should bring back good old zombies...actually no crimson heads and keep this behind the back camera. They can do so much with this new gameplay style, making RE better than ever before if they get it together. This is why I eagerly await the release of RE: Revelations.

Ummm,dude,no! RE4 had NOTHING to do with Resident Evil...It was just a good shooter with some creepy moments...RE5 on the other hand,did not have as atmospheric backgrounds as RE4 had,but story-wise it is BY FAR better than RE4!!!

@sonicromer I recently bought RE4 for the Wii, and I have to say, maybe it's because of how the Wii controls can immerse the player into the game better than a traditional controller, but I find some moments that I just played through in the GC version, on the Wii, I would actually have a feeling of anxiety or adrenaline, like the sewer area, or the Ashley segment. I think the new RE gameplay has the potential to revolutionize the survival horror genre, but they just need to flesh it out better.
And especially with the increased fascination with motion control gaming, with the Kinect and stuff, I think the new RE gameplay format CAN become survival horror if done well. Since the new gameplay format is more kinesthetic than the traditional tank controls, the RE4/5 gameplay REALLY lends itself to motion control and if executed well, might just end up being the next level of survival horror.

i got a cutting of this from 64 magazine! so glad it got on game cube if only for the fact the graphis improved- but if it were on the 64 i might still be owning one now! but if re2 was any referance i mean; the compresion would have been nasty on the movie cuts.
no the gamecube is for everyone to and the ps2 isnt better than the cube just because it sold more everyone has their own taste the sales mean nothing. oh and the reason the ps2 didnt get ports of re0 and the remake is because it was an exclusive deal between capcom and nintendo and the only game port of the re series the ps2 system could handle was obviously re4. and a remake of the originals with the new action gameplay would be an insult to the originals and the series.
5 is good I liked how the reconnected with nemesis explaining that jills infection during the clock tower battle in 3 went into a dormant state and wesker used her to create uroboros the plaga shit yeah still stupid but it does go back in time and show were the t virus actualy came from the flowers im hoping the resident evil revelations goes back to its roots as seen in the trailer zombies may actually be the enemy in the game unless its a flash back from chris or jill.
If Resident Evil 0 came out for PS2 or even Psone, it would sell like crazy. Seriously Resident Evil on a console that had a Pikachu version? And Gamecube? Almost EVERYONE has a PS2 and had PSX. What were they thinking
@Tiars666tiamat RE:0 was released on the GC in celebration of their RE aniversary, along with a RE1 remake and re-releases of RE2 and RE3. Since they were so successful, RE4 WAS a Gamecube exclusive, but later got ported to PS2, PC, and Wii. So, it was best to stay on the GC before switching the last days of PS2 lifespan. (P.S. it sold more copies than the PS2, and had better effects, real in-game cutscenes, and better graphics; PS2 gave Seperate Ways, Tazer weapon, Pimp suit)
@SUPERMARIOSONICX Well they could at LEAST port RE0 and RER to the PS2. I mean who owned a Gamecube except Zelda fans? Sure it had amazing games but PS2 has everything for everyone, plus most people have or had a PS2.
@Tiars666tiamat Your right about everyone owning a PS2, I mean it is the reason Dreamcast went out of business, but the GC was stand alone great. It had it's share of horror games as well, it had great potential, it wasn't only for "Zelda fans". The console's core engine nearly surpassed the original Xbox. As a port of a RE1 remake and RE:0 for PS2, I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea. Veronica X, or Outbreak never made it to GC...they could have traded for those games. :(
@SUPERMARIOSONICX I would prefer if GC had Veronica and the spinoffs. I finished Veronica a while ago with a friend and we both were pretty "meh". It was like an JRPG almost. Long, with no different scenarios and if you played it once you have seen everything, plus it was not scary at all. We finished RER on Dolphin also some weeks ago. It's been years since we got so scared. The first Crimson Head made us shit our pants and start screaming.

I like the stretchy arm guy that smacks you around in Veronica X, he's pretty funny.
They never released this game for a reason that during that era PS1 is the leading console and to think all resident evil games can be played in PS1. Capcom can't decide if they're going to debut it exclusively for nintendo64 console 'coz it may lead to failure. But fortunately they made it for gamecube exclusively together with the original remake with reformatted graphics.

Some strong infos said the the n64 couldnt held the rest of the game because it remains CARTRIDGE , rather than the psx CD , that holds much much more capacity .
@MAGICKUWAIT Nah i think thats BS; becuase this game was pretty much being made for N64, and look at RE2; if they put 2 650mb discs *thats 1.3GB* into 1 64MB disc, i dont think this was any harder AND RE2 for N64 was also being made around this games time i hear; i havent confirmed it yet but im pretty sure cuz that one was out in 1999/2000
at times old things (like RE 0,1,2,3)are better then the new versions.look at RE 4 and 5,they just made it look like a fricken shooting games in third person!

@sassyheros I disagree. I like the original games, 1 I didn't play but I'd prefer playing the remake, 2 is sweet, 3 is cool but too action based. CV is a good game and Zero looks good too. 4 does a good job fixing the tanked controls that got annoying in the original games and has good replay value, though I can see how some people don't like it (Ashley's so annoying). 5 made a good action game but failed to do survival horror, though the new dlc's are fixing it. Outbreak stinks though.

IMHO, they "nintendized" the game formula... many liked it, but I, AS A TRUE FAN OF THE SERIES, hated the way capcom took away the game essence: in RE4 we have no more scarying moments (RE: dogs come through windows, RE2: zombies brake wood on windows to catch you); and in general, in all the series there's no weapon upgrade.

Great looks for a N64 game. Back in the year 2000, I was waiting eagerly for this game to be released, and got angry when it got cancelled.
However, after getting RE Remake and Resident Evil Zero in Gamecube, I can only say that the N64 would have got nowhere near those two. Let's be honest.
This is a question, but who wouldn't love the RE4 Engine with the original RE games? That, for me, would be an orgasm. (Zombies > Plague) And NOT the RE5 Engine. Just.....No.
Um, the only difference between Resident Evil 4 and 5 are the characters... And the fact that 5 can be multiplayer. The enemies feel like they've been recolored and it all just felt too similar. And no, keep Resident Evil 4 and 5 separate from the series. I don't want the older games to lose their appeal with this action-based shit. Resident Evil used to actually be about horror back in the day, now it's all about action.
resident evil 6(from what i read from game informer)is supposed to bring the gameplay and retro graphics back, and it will be able to be downloaded from their site...aint that cool or what?
@drakboner Without the inclusion of Sheva, 5 would've been exactly the same as 4. You're running through villages/rural/industrial areas while people infected with the same type of parasite are running after you trying to kill you. Remove Sheva and then you tell me if there is a difference.

@drakboner The amount of ammo in RE5 was due to having to divide the ammo between two people. Obviously if Sheva wasn't involved, there'd be less ammo in the game.

Eventhough it's not like the predecessors, history told us that alot of people got sick with the staleness of resi because it didn't change much. I look back at resi4 and think to myself, wow this game was not only great, but it was also the first game to introduce the over the shoulder camera which many TPS games use nowadays. Hmmmm.......considering that RE2 also came out on the N64, why would they not just call it Resident Evil? I don't think the N64 had that much more power than the PS1 to warrant an entirely new game.

So in order to make people stop bitching I think they should bring back good old zombies...actually no crimson heads and keep this behind the back camera. They can do so much with this new gameplay style, making RE better than ever before if they get it together. This is why I eagerly await the release of RE: Revelations.

@sonicromer I recently bought RE4 for the Wii, and I have to say, maybe it's because of how the Wii controls can immerse the player into the game better than a traditional controller, but I find some moments that I just played through in the GC version, on the Wii, I would actually have a feeling of anxiety or adrenaline, like the sewer area, or the Ashley segment. I think the new RE gameplay has the potential to revolutionize the survival horror genre, but they just need to flesh it out better.

And especially with the increased fascination with motion control gaming, with the Kinect and stuff, I think the new RE gameplay format CAN become survival horror if done well. Since the new gameplay format is more kinesthetic than the traditional tank controls, the RE4/5 gameplay REALLY lends itself to motion control and if executed well, might just end up being the next level of survival horror.

no the gamecube is for everyone to and the ps2 isnt better than the cube just because it sold more everyone has their own taste the sales mean nothing. oh and the reason the ps2 didnt get ports of re0 and the remake is because it was an exclusive deal between capcom and nintendo and the only game port of the re series the ps2 system could handle was obviously re4. and a remake of the originals with the new action gameplay would be an insult to the originals and the series.

5 is good I liked how the reconnected with nemesis explaining that jills infection during the clock tower battle in 3 went into a dormant state and wesker used her to create uroboros the plaga shit yeah still stupid but it does go back in time and show were the t virus actualy came from the flowers im hoping the resident evil revelations goes back to its roots as seen in the trailer zombies may actually be the enemy in the game unless its a flash back from chris or jill.

@Tiars666tiamat RE:0 was released on the GC in celebration of their RE aniversary, along with a RE1 remake and re-releases of RE2 and RE3. Since they were so successful, RE4 WAS a Gamecube exclusive, but later got ported to PS2, PC, and Wii. So, it was best to stay on the GC before switching the last days of PS2 lifespan. (P.S. it sold more copies than the PS2, and had better effects, real in-game cutscenes, and better graphics; PS2 gave Seperate Ways, Tazer weapon, Pimp suit)

@Tiars666tiamat Your right about everyone owning a PS2, I mean it is the reason Dreamcast went out of business, but the GC was stand alone great. It had it's share of horror games as well, it had great potential, it wasn't only for "Zelda fans". The console's core engine nearly surpassed the original Xbox. As a port of a RE1 remake and RE:0 for PS2, I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea. Veronica X, or Outbreak never made it to GC...they could have traded for those games. :(

@SUPERMARIOSONICX I would prefer if GC had Veronica and the spinoffs. I finished Veronica a while ago with a friend and we both were pretty "meh". It was like an JRPG almost. Long, with no different scenarios and if you played it once you have seen everything, plus it was not scary at all. We finished RER on Dolphin also some weeks ago. It's been years since we got so scared. The first Crimson Head made us shit our pants and start screaming.

Hopefully I'll get my hands on another RE:0 seeing it was my friend's not mine. Veronica X, was a bit creepy...not scary but some monsters were cool...some. I like the stretchy arm guy that smacks you around in Veronica X, he's pretty funny.

They never released this game for a reason that during that era PS1 is the leading console and to think all resident evil games can be played in PS1. Capcom can't decide if they're going to debut it exclusively for nintendo64 console 'coz it may lead to failure. But fortunately they made it for gamecube exclusively together with the original remake with reformatted graphics.

Some strong infos said the the n64 couldnt held the rest of the game because it remains CARTRIDGE , rather than the psx CD , that holds much much more capacity .

@sassyheros I disagree. I like the original games, 1 I didn't play but I'd prefer playing the remake, 2 is sweet, 3 is cool but too action based. CV is a good game and Zero looks good too. 4 does a good job fixing the tanked controls that got annoying in the original games and has good replay value, though I can see how some people don't like it (Ashley's so annoying). 5 made a good action game but failed to do survival horror, though the new dlc's are fixing it. Outbreak stinks though.

dude, i totally agree with you. i remember growing up me and my cousin playing the very first one on ps and it scaring the shit out of us. Im a total fan of the survival HORROR. re4 and 5 arent survival games anymore there just fucking shooters. I HATE WHAT THERE DOING WITH THE SERIES!! i miss the pre-rendered backgrounds and still cameras and all the puzzles.

IMHO, they "nintendized" the game formula... many liked it, but I, AS A TRUE FAN OF THE SERIES, hated the way capcom took away the game essence: in RE4 we have no more scarying moments (RE: dogs come through windows, RE2: zombies brake wood on windows to catch you); and in general, in all the series there's no weapon upgrade.

Great looks for a N64 game. Back in the year 2000, I was waiting eagerly for this game to be released, and got angry when it got cancelled.
However, after getting RE Remake and Resident Evil Zero in Gamecube, I can only say that the N64 would have got nowhere near those two. Let's be honest.

Um, the only difference between Resident Evil 4 and 5 are the characters... And the fact that 5 can be multiplayer. The enemies feel like they've been recolored and it all just felt too similar. And no, keep Resident Evil 4 and 5 separate from the series. I don't want the older games to lose their appeal with this action-based shit. Resident Evil used to actually be about horror back in the day, now it's all about action.

@drakboner Without the inclusion of Sheva, 5 would've been exactly the same as 4. You're running through villages/rural/industrial areas while people infected with the same type of parasite are running after you trying to kill you. Remove Sheva and then you tell me if there is a difference.

@drakboner The amount of ammo in RE5 was due to having to divide the ammo between two people. Obviously if Sheva wasn't involved, there'd be less ammo in the game.
