Wow, this episode quotes Robert Burns AND Charles Dickens? Don't you just miss the days when Hollywood writers were well-read?
And I know it's horribly off topic, but its little wonder why our nation has an obesity epidemic when we look at this scene. It's not the fault of McDonalds or HFCS; but the fact that a sundae used to be ONE scoop of ice cream with chocolate sauce on top.
Ah, the good ol' days when people actually believed in moderation and portion control.

Considering what happened previously in this program, I'm surprised there wasn't a jukebox in the drug store / soda fountain which didn't suddenly start blaring a rock & roll record, giving him (and the audience) a sudden terrible scare.
Too bad the movie theater didn't show the "Let's all go to the lobby" intermission film before he ran into the mirror and broke it - in the lobby.
That's the original type of street-crossing signal, with the words "WALK" and "WAIT".
