You make a very poor case. Downplaying him because he is using elements of another player's style doesn't make him somehow less.

Tommy Emmanuel uses travis picking and has elements of Chet Atkins' style of playing. Is he just an amazing amateur?

There is no such thing copying skills ALL musicians generally use other musicians music as a base for their music. Kotaro oshio also DID NOT INVENT PALM NAIL ATTACK. and if there were such thing as copying skills then Kotaro is copying Isato nakagawa.
