  • @RunaeMoon

    Thanks. :)

  • Hey on your intro and at the end what did you use to make those beats ?

  • @parosite

Just the Drumatic 3 drum machine VSTi running through dBlue's Glitch effect VST on Cubase.

  • Never heard of this instrument. Love the sound on it. Reminds me a lot of old RPG video game music combine with 80's new wave romance. Good job! Now I am interested in this bit of kit. How much do they go for?

  • @mrgrimviking

Funnily enough, a lot more than before I posted this and my other Omnichord videos...

I seem to have single handedly increased the value and there for price of them threefold. Oops! :P

I got this one for around £49. Now they go, on average, for anything from £130 up to £160.

I've seen them go for anything up to £350!

They often come up on Ebay.

  • wow fascinating! respect!!!

    greetz,

    zeraphin :)

  • Hate the intro music. Sorry, I hope that wasn't your own.

As for the Omnichord playing. WOW! That sounds so cool.

When I'm not reviewing beers, I sing and play blues harmonica.

Seen these in music stores but never heard one before.

I'd love to try a blues jam with one. I wonder if that'd work.

Keep up that lovely playing. Terry Kay.

  • @BeerGogglesReviews

Heheh, it is, kinda, my own but don't worry.. I am pretty thick skinned. :P

It's a remixed cover I did of an old TV theme.

That's the kind of music I do most often, heavily electronic stuff.

  • @weegerri1sm SHIT Sorry mate. Me and my big gob. Looked at some of your other vids too. There's some extraordinary stuff. The War Of The Worlds was ACE! I feel so bad saying that about the intro after you said such nice things on my beer review. Sorry again.

  • thanks alot for replying...... its not on the key and out of tune...

  • how doing bro...i just bought the Qchord ....i tried to use it as a midi ,but the chord sound are all over the place, and its not on scale ...how do set it up on scale ?thanks

  • @MegaAb1982

Hi. Well, I don't know if the Q-Chord has got a manual mode, like the Omni has. You will need to select that to stabilize the chords or your DAW/Synth will try to follow the auto-accompaniment.

Not sure what you mean by not on scale..? Do you mean out of key, or out of tune?

  • @MegaAb1982

Yup, I just downloaded the manual. Make sure you have Manual Chord selected or your software or synth will try to copy the auto-accompaniment and that will sound a bit mad!

  • THANKS ALOT...COULD UPLOAD MORE VIDEOS OF YOU MESSING WITH THE OMNICHORD?DO YOU KNOW SUZUKI JUST CAME OUT WITH QCHORD THE NEW VERSION OF OMNICHORD? BLESSING

  • @MegaAb1982

Oh the Q-Chord isn't that new. It's been around since the mid 1990's.

It's not really as popular as the Omnichord because it has a very much harsher digital sound compared to the warm, soft analogue tone of the Omnichord. It's also not quite so cool looking.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a Q-Chord purely as a MIDI controller because it has a pitch bend wheel and other features that the Omnichord doesn't have.

  • cool stuff bro....can it be use in musical production software like logic or protool?thanks

  • @MegaAb1982

Yeah. If you see my Omnichord MIDI demo video you can see me using it with Cubase and Energy XT.

It can be used in any MIDI compatible music production software including Logic, Pro-Tools and Ableton.

  • did you mic it?

  • Sweet! I love those obscure, space-y instruments like the omnichord and theremin. You're quite good at it too!

  • lol nice shirt :)

  • This is inspiring me to use my Omnichord more! Very lovely piece and beautifully played!

  • This is SOOO COOOL!!! You rock!

    Blessings,

    Bob

  • @spiritchannel

    Thanks :)

  • great demo :)

  • wow. five stars

  • what are you?

  • @weegerri1sm - with the basic midi functions of the om200 - om300, can you control VSTi's via midi to where the midi will play the chords out on the piano roll?

i ask because i have been reading this is difficult with the qchord

  • Cool! Love the midi demos.

Is it possible to change the on board sounds of the chord section on the OM-300? It sounds so "plonky" compared to the nice, fat synth chords on the 84-200 videos on youtube.

  • I have both the 200 and the 300 and the sounds are pretty much identical.

The chord sounds, however, can be changed on the 200 and all later models, simply by changing the rhythm that's selected or trying different voice-rhythm combinations.

  • Ok, cool, thank you!

Now, if only Suzuki would remake the omnichord, with full analouge tweak-ability and effects, midi etc..

  • i want this!... too bad i can't find it on ebay.. but what's better, the qchord or this one?

  • @MichaelKhanTV

They come up every so often on ebay.

Usually the original OM-27 model, which has value, being the first but can't do very much.

As for which is best, it depends what you're after really.

If you want more MIDI features and extra features (such as pitch-bend) go for the Q-Chord. It's good but the sounds are clunky and harsh.

If you want a softer, warmer, analogue sound and only essential MIDI then the OM-200, OM-250, OM-300 and OM-350 are better.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Thanks!

  • Amazing!

  • some great sounds.just checked your myspace.loving your sound.thanks

  • Awesome demo! Where's the followup? :)

Do you have any idea what the differences are between this one and the "system 2" (om84 i believe) - yours has MIDI while the 84 doesn't? But its sound generation is still analog, yeah? Anything else ?

  • Hi. :)

The 84 and the 300 are very, very different.

The 84 has 3 rows of only 9 chord buttons each, where as the 300 hads 3 rows of 12 chords each. (The full range of an octave).

It also has a memory which the 84 doesn't and MIDI. It has many more sounds available and can be used as a miniture MIDI keyboard.

  • Now that simply isn't so! The 27 has 9 chord rows, but the 84 has 12!

  • @NessieSanzerbeard:

I stand corrected and I do sincerely apologise.

I had the 84 muddled with the 27, (which was what came to mind at the time of my description), but you are quite correct.

The OM-84 was a System Two Omnichord and, therefor, had 12 chords per row.

    Thanks for your correction. :)

  • However, having now triple checked, everything else I said was correct. The 84 does not have MIDI nor a built in memory.

In essence, the 84 is exactly like the 27 but with more chords.

  • The sound is still analog and it can sound identical to the om84 if you wish.

The follow up should be coming soon.

I had a major HD crash on my desktop PC but I'm working on a way to create videos with my laptop.

  • So talented... I'd buy a CD <3

  • Im thinking about buying one, but I need to know more about the midi functionality. Have you tried to use it to control any vst's or Reason or anything. I want to use it as a midi controller but cant find much info about it.

  • I have used it to control vst's in both Abelton and Cubase.

It is great with multitimbral equiptment or EnergyXT because you can assign 4 different MIDI channels to different sounds.

Each part transmits on 4 seperate MIDI channels, the strumplate, the walking bass, the chord section and a sort of arpeggio section. Unfortunatly it doesn't transmit any control or program changes nor any MIDI clock information but it's still very useful.

  • This is a great video, beautiful job playing the Omnichord, you are very good. Please post more- also, thanks for your kind comments on my video!

  • Post more and longer videos of you playing this awesome instrument!

  • Thanks.

I will. I am going to do more MIDI stuff with it, as well as showing how the whole thing works.

    Thanks for your interest. :)

  • I want one so bad. I was bidding on one on ebay and it got up past 250 bucks and I just cant afford that much. Maybe I could sell my guitar but I'd rather not because even though I don't know how to play it well (hardly at all) I still enjoy sitting down with it and my pandora's box and making some neat little noises and melodies.

  • That was way tight!

  • Thanks :)

  • Nice tune! I like your playing sytle; thanks!

  • Enjoy for this, good moment thank's. I like your t-shirt.

  • Thanks. ^^
