30 plus years later and watching the intro to this as well NFL on NBC got me all charged up to watch football. Don't even watch pre-game shows anymore. Too many guys yelling and talking over one another.
WHY doesn't CBS use this as the Theme for the current show? When you first heard those Trumpets or horns or whatever, you RAN to the TV because you knew the NFL Today was coming on. Brent would tell us that "You are looking live..." and they would give you the sattelite feed from around the country. What is CBS waiting for? Put this on and even I would watch their otherwise bland show.
@rubbersole79 I thought the same thing.... clothes lines and Bradshaw getting picked up and slammed on his head. Let's put this on our highlight reel for the NFL Today Show.
All of those hits would illegal today.

Funny all the clips they show are illegal now and would result in ejections or suspensions.

is it just me -- or are a vast majority of the plays on this intro (face mask, stomping, going for the head) be penalities today ..

awesome stuff. If CBS showed these highlights for their preview montage today they would all be hauled into Goodell's office the next day LOL!!

Possibly a 1977 intro (seen the later ones similar to this in style on YouTube before from 1978/79).
