Thanks for posting! Her voice is back. The range and strength is there. As a vocal couch I know how critical it is for a singer to get the proper rest, breathing and vocal training dynamics (along with a few other things). This applies to any singer (age or vocal style). If a singer's "voice" has truly "lost" some of its potency, rest will not get it back. All that singer can do is work with their current vocal abilities. Patti's voice is there. Sounds like she did when I saw her in 1979.
Naw.. sorry to say it's not coming back it just seems that way because she (and very wisely I might add) conscientiously cutting back on the number of annual tour and performances to allow the proper amount of vocal rest for maturing pipes. If more female singers in her age bracket caught on to this revelation then there would be a heck of a lot more "Motown" Maidens out today...
no offense to you, but to us Patti fan's it really does seems like her voice is really coming back. I saw her towards the end of last year on the CBS early show, and Patti voice sounded like it did when she was younger, and also on the Rock and Roll show she song "If you don't know me by now"
No ofense taken. it's good to know that two individuals can have a descent convo on youtube where the disagree but RESPECTFULLY do so.
I hear what you are sayin but again I'd like to point out the span of time (MONTHS) between those three performances where as in her much younger years there would have been several more singing gigs in between those.
Just a small point I would like to make in regards to her voice. You keep mentioning the time span between shows. I've been following Patti in New York since THE DIVAS WITH HEART concert in October. Her voice sounded amazing that night and right after that show Labelle kicked off the Back to Now tour. She has had very little time gaps between these shows witch just goes to show that Mama Patti got her fierceness back and what you are hearing is the realness of the Diva we heard back in the 80's
no but I am saying if you go back and look at her OVER ALL touring schedule from back in the 80's and compare it to now I garauntee that you will discover that there is significant DECLINE in the number of performances regardless of how many times a day she sung
Hey man imma Patti fan probably the number 1 but she's been in concert back 2 back with Labelle and her own solo concerts...she may seem not so busy with her soloo stuff but its only cause of the Labelle reunion and she busy with rolex, cooking products,tv shows,movies...etc No disresect i agree to disagree
