Outstanding! This was the best version of any Vogues group since the original recordings. Great singers, and they put on a great show. They were very funny, very entertaining, and great singers. We were very disappointed whenwe drove to Pittsburgh to see The Vogues on the Majestic. It was a guy claiming to be an original member and 2 other guys. They were very average at best.
@tonywsmith2 I don't understand why you think there's anything dishonest here. Could you please explain? The video shows a group singing a song. There have been no claims here that they wrote it, or that these are the originals. What is dishonest?
The Vogues & Jay And The Americans are playing May 8 at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex in Binghamton NY, and The Vogues will be playing the Holiday Inn Riverfront Hotel in Elmira, NY on the 7th, with a young, local Corning, NY a cappella group called The Aces opening for them. Should be a good show!
I can appreciate that U & others may prefer the sound of this grp. I just don't share the love, I guess. I prefer the familiar original sound & the passion Mr. Blasko has for songs & the name of the group he helped make famous. The thing that bothers me most is how this group here allows listeners to believe they are part of the ORIGINAL group when they R not.. I heard these guys here BEFORE I heard the originals & I could tell the difference. A matter of personal taste which we enjoy. =)
I don't recall on any part of this video where these guys said that they were the originals. The only said "The Vogues". Everybody knows that they are not the originals. The guy in the blue coat owned the trademark for the name. He sold the trademark to the guy in the red coat and he is the current owner of the name. . He (Mr. Stan Elich) has made e very attempt to preserve that classic Vogues sound, and his group now includes Bill Burkette and Hugh Geyer for the original group.
Chuck Blasko may have the passion for the songs, but the sound of his group can not compare to the sound of the trademark Vogues with Mr. Burkette and Mr. Geyer.
You mean these guys arent the original members? I thought that bass singer was a little out in front there. Dont remember that on the original studio version. I re-recorded this song years ago and gave it to my wife as a valentines day present. It was her fav song as a child. I also had my 12 yo son sing on it too. It brought tears to her eyes
The one in purple is Lynn Royce Taylor who is still singing, and has the most amazing voice. You can catch up with him on Facebook or Myspace. Check it out!
I had this on a 45 that I talked my older brother out of... I LOVE this song & the version by The Vogues is still my fave!! THANK YOU Genieoutofbottle for posting this!! :) :)
The younger generations have NO CLUE what they missed!
The music from 1955-1970 was the best ever, and the Vogues
were a BIG part of it!

Listen more closely to the context. They present the song as if it was first recorded
in l968 by them.

@tonywsmith2 I guess it's just how you take it. Sounds like they said it became a hit for them in 1968.

This is dishonest. The Vogues version of this song came eleven years after
the Bobby Helms version, the signature version, the one that comes to mind first
for almost anybody who thinks of this tune. Nor, as wick201 points out, are these guys the original vogues.

I still think this group had the best harmonies - the best sound overall than any other Vogues lineup.
