The version I have on tape edited out slightly different things. That's why it's nice to see someone else's version online.
Did they even TRY with this movie? Did no one do their research and know that the bars were MUCH closer together in 1976?! Why make a movie if you are not going to even do the person justice and show their actual routines?
I'm sorry, but I have to say this...I love Nadia, she is unique. But the actress who pretty well nailed Nadia's routine (IN SLOW MOTION) deserves some credit too. I don't care if she looks nothing like real Nadia. That's really not the point. And you have to remember this is a very low budget, early '80's film. I think they did I good job. Thanks for posting.
@megan8madonna The slow motion girl is no other than Marcia Frederick, UB World Champion in 1978, she looked pretty much like Nadia, luckily, but she was bigger. In the beam part at the end of the movie the camera zoom is far away so that the difference won't be so striking

Composer is Christopher L Stone, the music is great but good luck trying to find the soundtrack. This Film "Nadia" was a Television Movie so the soundtrack was never released. You may be lucky enough to find some of the music from this film on a Christopher L Stone Compilation CD, But good luck there too. I have been looking for years.
Can you imagine if a girl during Bela's 92 or 96 teams talked to him like Nadia (supposedly) did here? She would still be doing situps to this day. I know that Nadia became a little testy after the Olympics, but I seriously doubt she went off on Bela like that. And if it was Octavian Belu, the girl would be beaten, no questions asked, no matter what kind of delegation was visiting. I love this movie, but it is FULL of inaccuracies.

That's all very true. As to Dominique M., my opinion is that she was much too headstrong and independent as a person to make it with Bela for very long. Bela's idea girls are the type who be quiet and listen to him and respond by nodding their heads. Anything else ends up in trouble. Dominique has "indicated" much trouble about her time with Bela, but she never really comes out and says exactly what the trouble was. I say she needs to write a book, get it over with, get on with her life.
once again i'm with u 100%. when she ended her retirement, she had a new coach and the coach herself admitted that dominique did everything she could do be noticed by bela and come back in training with him. even she knows that, yes he does treat his girls badly, BUt he is a champion-maker. his methods, as ruthless as they are, work. and moceanu knows it. she is just bitter that he didn't take her back (her skills were gone + she was out of shape). she has two kids now: time to let it go!

I love this movie, but the Olympic scene is preposterous: she gets her first 10 in optional bars (she actually got in comp.), and it's like she wins the Olympic title in two minutes (you see her family back in Romania watching her perform on bars and winning the AA, like it all happened in one night - probably four days elapsed between her first 10 and the medal ceremony). Also, was Nadia so emotional when getting her first 10? She repeatedly commented she was not even looking at the scoreboard!
This girl looks too old to be playing a 14 yr old. LOL, and the actor playing Bela Caroli doesn't capture Bela's craziness!

I'm sorry, but I have to say this...I love Nadia, she is unique. But the actress who pretty well nailed Nadia's routine (IN SLOW MOTION) deserves some credit too. I don't care if she looks nothing like real Nadia. That's really not the point. And you have to remember this is a very low budget, early '80's film. I think they did I good job. Thanks for posting.

the all around and individual competitions would have in no way all happened on the same night.
i think it's also a dramatic understatement of bela's personality.
