  • I am looking at getting a Glock 35 (.40 cal) and a conversion barrel for 357SIG.

From your experience, what are your thoughts on doing this?

I wanted the longer barrel for the 357SIG to get more velocity.

  • pause at 4:16

  • Beautiful

  • I was not expecting the SIG 357 hollow point to do this.

FYI: You can reload SIG-357 using 9mm bullets.

  • Glock 23 with 9mm? lol

  • @ArbalestRaptor That's what I said... lol I know they have conversion kits but standard Glock 23 is .40

  • @ArbalestRaptor It actually makes sense when you think about it. Lone Wolf has conversion barrels so with my G23 (normally a .40) I can shoot 357 sig or 9mm. The thing I like is I can shoot different calibers for different reasons (CCW, self defense, practice, etc). When I practice I shoot about 2-300+ rounds easy. Its much cheaper to shoot 9mm than .40 or 357 sig.

Just another reason I like having multi-functional equipment.

    :)

  • @SafeArmsReview Sorry I forgot about conversion barrels, I though he got the guns mixed up. lol

  • freaky

  • He steve,

Always nice to see a nice vid and a good deal of save humor.

    5 stars or otherwise a LIKE !!!

  • I have a question. With the smaller grain rounds, there is an increase in kinetic energy upon impact due to the bullet traveling at a faster speed. How do you decide what is really better, when you pit a slower, larger, yet "weaker" hit against a smaller and faster hit that statistically speaking has more impact energy?

I understand larger bullets potentially do more damage once inside something, due to more mass.

  • Great vids! Love the comic-book effect!

  • great video the rem 870 is looking sweet

  • Love your videos, they have been helpful to me and my shooting. My brother is a associate Pastor here in cheyenne wyoming and he has a .40 and I have the xd45, i hunt alot and would like to know your thoughts on defense load to carry for bear, I dont hunt bear but if ever i was to run into unwanted game what should i look at? also i see a lot that a 45 is not enough for a charging bear but its all i have right now.

  • Good question, we here in MN don't have to worry about dangerous animals aside from canines, and the occasional cougar (4-legged). My Uncle Mike from MT carries his .45 long colt or .44 mag while in the field, he has spent a considerable amount of time in the woods and has never been forced to shoot a bear, so I cannot attest to the effectiveness of either weapon as an anti bear gun, just sayin!

  • Great Fun, Thanks for sharing your great adventures!

  • that was cool, been wanting to do that myself, maybe next trip to the range. ooh rah!

  • LOL @ Jack of Diamonds, name of my Tattoo shop, and as you can see steady under fire, lol

Another great video from SAR, Peace

  • Thanks for getting the wireless mic.. so much easier to hear what you're saying.

  • safearmsreview I'm dissapointed in you. You kicked someone out for disagreeing with you. I thought you preached freedom and the constitution. Looks like you don't like to walk the walk, but just talk it. Now I won't know what gun this guy was talking about is the best. Good luck being on Freedomizer, I'm sure they will love to know you censor people who speak out.

  • No where do we have to accept ignorance & promote something that could endanger ppl.

The claim you only have to shoot a gun once & thats it is FOOLISHNESS & can lead to someone getting killed because they didnt practice enough. Its NOT safe nor is it being responsible hence the reason to dismiss them.

If a person came to my firearms class saying this same stuff, I would escort him off the range for promoting unsafe & irresponsible actions/inaction.

Failing to practice is planning to fail.

  • Amen.

  • @ConsumerSlaves

That was about the most ignorant thing i have heard all day...and I hear A LOT of it...

  • i always wanted a 357 sig but i cant offord the ammo

  • Yea its hard to find it here where I live but not impossible

    for regular practice I use 9mm, 40 and 45.

    :)

  • which kinds of shotgun rounds mostly people like to buy

  • Much improved sound during high-wind.

  • just picked up a glock 22 (40s&w). Kicks like a mule compared to my xd 45.

The only other gun I own that kicks like it is my cz 52 with surplus ammo.

    But somehow I like it...........

    Great video, thanks Steve!

  • @kultbagusa thats what i said..i have that and the 23 at the moment and the 23 seems to have a smoother recoil..

  • Very cool Video*****

  • the new mic sounds good

  • Shooting stuff with shotguns and slugs is just plain fun. I always have a blast during Halloween when I take pumpkins out for people who want to get rid of them and just watching them exploded as I put slugs from my Mossberg 500 into them.

  • ★★★★★

  • magic trick, you made that jack disappear.

i would have you for my neighbor instead of all the pussies that live around here. peace.

  • Man that 870 +slug combo does some damage. I have a stock 870 and slugs but I've never fired them. Now that my days off are during the week (and now that my cataract surgery has restored the sight in my right eye) I'll be able to hit the range again.

  • Kool Video Steve Im loving that 357sig HP ammo.

  • As I heard you say before, Perfect practice makes perfect. Practice makes it permanant. If you aim for nothing... that's what you'll hit. A good rule for many things in life. Keep the vids coming.

    The Rev

  • Awesome video Steve!!!!

    Thanks

  • That new mic is working very good. Nice video.

  • STEVE-----Thanks for that 357sig Ball/HP test...... much appreciated.... That Rem 870 12ga is just amazing!!!! It would be cool to line up 4 or 5 milk jugs in a line and fire the 870 thru them length-wise to see a single 12ga slug penetration thru 5 gal of water.... I suspect that would be verry cool... Tanks again!!!!!!!!!!

  • Have you ever considerd making gelatin blocks to show the depth of penetration for body simulation? Showing the water jugs or even metal coffee cans filled with water are a great visual but the blocks would show some penetration/damage in a different light.

  • HIgh velocity with a smaller round means much of the energy passes through the target without being delivered.

  • maby stupid question..... but wy don't day make an shotgun hollowpoint slug. that wood be sweet to se XD

  • I wish i could go shooting with you looks like a great place to shoot

  • Very cool Steve! The wireless mic seems to serve it's intended purpose well. Great job as always man.

  • 5 star vid as always! I enjoy all your vids, but especially the ones with shooting and ammo comparisons. Entertaining and informative. Thanks.

  • Seems like audio drops to mono when you use the wireless rig. It sounds very clear, just need to figure out how to get it in stereo.

  • Great job bud. Good shooting for a Glock. And the mic sounds great. You just lost stereo and your down to left channel only. But other then that its great. God Speed

  • Great shooting medley! Did I miss vid on sight upgrade to 870?

  • hey, your camera and mic are working very excellently, especially in that wind.

very good job. love your targets too !!

  • you obviously know nothing about firearms. Go watch something else. Why don't YOU go feed starving children by selling you car, computer, xbox, mp3 player, TV, etc., etc.

Oh, and is it wasting ammo to practice? I think not-the wasted ammo comes when a person who is not proficient with their weapon attempts to defend themselves with it.

  • I think the Bible also teaches not to be a dumbass on purpose, to shoot a weapon one time and believe yourself proficient is foolhardy at best.

  • @Chiliconnada

You know what I mean. I don't mean literally one time, but not having 100 guns and going to practice 1000 times a year. This is utterly ridiculous. And your right it does preach against being a dumbass and thats called shooting tons of guns you don't need.

  • skyding,

I dont have 100 guns nor do I practice 1,000 times year. The training I do is to keep me proficient at my job, to protect others & family. I guess taking my responsibility seriously really bugs you. Or perhaps its cause I teach firearms classes for free? Or teach useful info here on yt? I dont know but you seem to have big problems & are misusing the bible in attacking me & my family.

Perhaps you need to go else where - to someone more you liking. I hope that works out for you.

    ;)

  • @SafeArmsReview

No I don't have a problem with you. I just think its a waste of money to buy tons of guns and waste all that ammo. The money could be used for something actually productive. IMO

  • I don't have 'tons of guns' nor do I 'waste all that ammo'.

Ur claim of providing me & my family firearms to defend themselves, keeping proficient, & teaching others to do the same is a waste. I beg to differ - I teach firearms classes for free among other things, but u don't take that into consideration do u? Nope, u never even asked what I do outside of yt & the other 'productive' things my family & I do.

Sorry u feel this way but in light of ur attacks, I hope you do well elsewhere.

  • BTW ur neglecting the fact if I do have to protect someone, that if I do not practice then that could mean the lives of those around me.

If you dont use it, you lose it.

I would hate to have the death of someone on my conscience because I was ignorant in thinking you only have to shoot a gun once & there is no need to stay proficient.

Ppl miss the target because they stressed & not proficient - sustainment training is important (at least to the military, law enforcement, etc).

  • skyding said... "You only need one gun and shoot it once to know it works."

My time in the military, law enforcement and numerous training statistics from FBI, military & local law shows the exact opposite.

Training under stress conditions, replicating malfunctions and performing immediate actions drills and putting rounds on target is very important. Once proficient you need to continue to train to stay proficient.

BTW your ad hominem attacks are telling - I hope that works out for you.

  • sky your still wrong. I dont have 100 guns, I have enough for me & my family.

Your claim that training is not needed to say proficient is pure ignorance. I suppose the military, police, FBI, state troopers, swat & other law enforcement dont need to train anymore even despite all the stats & facts stating it is needed.

Sorry but your walking a thin line.

  • You know skyding I'm going to help you out

Since you dont like what I do, how I train in my job or with my family, or how I provide for ppl in the local community, I'm gonna send you on your way.

Hopefully you will find someone more to your liking elsewhere.

    Take care & God bless,

    Steve

  • You have proven my point-you know nothing-zip-about firearms and yet you presume to come and lecture an expert. You go ahead and buy ONE gun and shoot it ONCE. Then hope and pray you never encounter an enemy who is remotely proficient with his weapon. He will kill you.

We all owe our families a better level of security than to buy a weapon and take it out of the box to shoot once & then relegate it to the bedside drawer. What if that one gun malfunctions?

  • @robertoray1277

If that one gun malfunctions then your dead anyways. Nice try Robert.

  • wow...

If that firearm malfunctions and your not proficient in clearing it thru sustained training, to continue the fight, you and your family might end up dead.

Sorry but your off on this sky.

  • @skyding8962 It is obvious your a troll looking for confrontation on these blogs to get yourself off in some way. The rest of us are here to share in the constructive knowledge of others. Steve just happens to want to share his knowledge with others, for nothing in return, except maybe good conversation. If you find us wrong according to your standards, then just go some where else and start arguments with others of your mind set.

  • Thanks rough but skyding has moved on

    ;)

  • You booted him before we found out what the one magic gun for every situation is. Guess I'll keep collecting.

  • Great stuff, impressive 357 sig, but where's the 357 magnum love? :)

  • very cool Brother!

  • Good job, Steve. Wireless mike works much better. Still have the wind in the background but you come through with no problem.

  • If shit ever htf I would want this guy on my side.

  • check out mrlockandload on youtube.

    He's my choice..lol
