The newer version is much more refined. You know how it is in the first prototype of anything. The first one tell you that the concept works. But the first on also tells you that you need to build the next ones faster and better. We have taken a working concept and made it better in version 2!
Awesome weapon, for a full auto 308 with a 3 inch barrel, it made a much tighter grouping in the water than I ever expected. The “bull horn” style charging handle would be the only thing I would change.
Controllable? How come it pushed him out of camera view? Also, with such a short barrel, you're wasting so much of the cartridge's energy, why not something more practical like 7.62x39? And what is the point of the AR-type charging handle? That's one of the AR's most disdained features.
16 rounds full auto in that small of an area is far more controllable than most firearms of the same caliber. The ARMS 51SS pushed the shooter backwards, but he still kept the target acquired. We realize the short barrel looses energy, which is why we are using such a large cartridge. It can achieve deep target penetration. The AR-type charging handle allows the ARMS 51SS to be as short as it is. The charging handle may be a disdained feature by some, but not by most at the 2010 shot show.
@bradeaton11182 man i know this is going to sound stupid, but, are guns with shorter barrels more controlable than full sized ones? i know its kinda basic but i couldnt fin a good response.
not necessarily... We were actually really surprised when it was this controllable. There are m16's which are far more difficult to keep on target (full auto) then this weapon is.
@bradeaton11182 thanks for responsing, there is a rumor running aroun on the internet, some "experts" say that short barrelet assault rifles and SMG are more controlable than sttandart ones, they show some aprently trustable suppor for their thoery, i dont belive it, but i asked a frind in the military whos using a micro galil (195mm) and he said his new weapons its a little bit more controlable during full auto than his old galil sar, im a little bit confused.
"Controllable" is a word not normally associated with machine guns. I figured I better state that right out. I have some experience with M-16's, and some full auto pistols. I have found that both are hard to keep on a target sized paper when in full auto operation. They both seem to climb especially the Glock pistol. So needless to say I haven't narrowed down the variables enough to say that the shorter the barrel the more so called "controllable" the gun will be. Just my experience...
@bradeaton11182 i understand, thanks for responsing, i think it should be bothering to expend your valuable time responsing to such a unpertinent question (specially when it was maded with the worst grammar posible) that why apreciate so much your help and attention, greetings form colombia.
Yes you are correct about the slower rate of fire. When H&K originally built this type of firearm, they designed it for a slower more controllable rate of fire. We have kept with their original thoughts on rate of fire.
That is a .308 submachine gun. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent little thing there, .308 aswell so lots of stopping power when needed. But I didn't like that crude charging handle, it looks flimsy.

no it isn't possible to have interchangeable barrels at this point, but don't count us out yet. If anyone can make it happen, we will...

@bradeaton11182 thanks for reply and nice work. is that based on the fal design?
I WAS BLOWN AWAY AT HOW CONTROLLABLE THAT LOOKED AND EASY GROUP INTO POND
EASTENDGLEN 1 year ago
No it is based on the H&K 51. Or a Vector Arms V51, which is based again on a H&K design.

@bradeaton11182 It seems to have a much lower fire rate than AR15 full auto variants. Around 650-700 right?
