This game IS possible to beat without Game Genie or save states - I managed it when I was like 9 or 10 or something, but it was NOT without its hardships! Ah, gaming from before the era of the super-easy trophy fests :-p

I know that this game has alot of haters. But lets get real people, this game should NOT be hated. So what if it was hard as hell. ALMOST ALL NES games were as hard or harder. TMNT has more variety, length, and thought into it than the TMNT II or III does. There are flaws I admit. But hardly any NES game is perfect, save a few. This is the best out of all of them. There are tricks that are needed to get past bosses and certain stages. Get a Game Genie and show this game the love it deserves.

unlike today's games that gets easier and lack of a real hardcore chalenge this turtles game is a hardcore game its not a baby's game that will take you at least a hour to finish havent people notice there were other really hard games back in the nes era if not impossible to beat does games like contra,ninja gaiden, mega man or the old-school castlevania games ring any bells cant people at least try to handle a old-school hardcore game like tmnt insted of giving up and get easily fustrated

The tune from 1:30 has always been my favorite from all nintendo games.

This game has the "magic" qualities that most games today lack.

I think somewhere along the line, people forgot how to make good games. This is a good example of a GOOD GAME!!

This game is hard but a real classic. In order to beat it you need these ingredients:

- fully master the awkward control

- know exactly which way to go

- know where to find the captured turtles

- know the secret to beating the jetpack guys

Either all of this, or a game genie.. whichever you prefer x)

Beating games like this always made me feel good. I don't get the same satisfaction out of beating new games. That's just my opinion though.

This game is pretty fucking stupid though. I mean, I owned it and have fond memories of it, but if you were planning a ninja turtles video game, would it be at all like this? Ignoring the gameplay, compare the content of this with Turtles in Time. That game actually makes sense within Turtles universe, whereas this is as if someone randomly picked a franchise to attach to their game about fighting giant bugs and lava men.
