I'm contemplating buying this gun, and i was wondering if anyone has experience with sawed off vs. pistol grip. i like the sawed off look a lot more, but i was wondering if the recoil hurts your hand/wrist more than pistol grip because of the angle of grip.

@cobrabag I have one with a retracting stock, and a pistol grip. As long as you let it rest against your shoulder, and don't put to much into your wrist, it really isn't bad.

@LotsOfStuffIsKewl yea u do but u can have it removed and even modified to fire jus by holding the trigger and racking the slide lol if u choose to. my mossy 500 has the slide blocker if its cocked u have to push the button to work the slide but if its not it doesnt

I have an old Springfield 67 that I cut down to legal limits and hacked off the butt and rounded it out very nice. The issue I am having is with the previous stock bolt. It is too long to to reattach the now modified grip and I can't seem to find a way to attach it. I am afraid that if I get a shorter screw that the handle with just slide off. Anyone have a tip on doing this properly and making it look nice? I do not want a duct tape gang banger gun.

hey!! all of you looking for a grip like this check out shockwave technologies "raptor grip" for the mossberg 500, its decent, comes with mounting hardware but it is hard plastic (i wish it was rubber) i haven't had a chance to fire my gun due to the rain out here in california but ill try to as soon as i can

@dirf69: That's the thing about shotguns: Any shotgun will most likely handle any round made for its gauge, with the exception of sabot slugs, and even those will fire, just not as well as they would from a rifled barrel. The main issues you have are whether there is a choke in the barrel, and whether you want to be switching ammo around.

If you have a weapon for NL rounds it should never hold live ones, and vice versa. Too much margin for error.

Thanks for the vid, i'm going to be getting a Mossberg 500 as my first firearm, and i was very curious how hard it was to shoot with a pistol grip. I see all sorts of videos of people bustin themselves in the lip cause they aren't ready, and it's kind of intimidating. Good to see it is definitely possible.

@softaapje Gun Laws vary by state. Most non felons are eligible to own a gun pending a background check. No you cannot shoot someone for trespassing.

p.s. there is usually a waiting period before you can even get your hands on a gun, background check etc.

I believe this is just a practice of our 2nd amendment right and also the enjoy ability of target shooting of a firearm or many I see nothing wrong with this. ether the old sawed offs get a bad rep but that to me looks like a perfectly legal 18.5 that had a little work done nothing more you can buy them at a sporting store but that's custom! been shooting since I was young and it is most definitely interesting watching his style of firearms he prefers, and many more people I have come across.

I have a Mossberg Field and Security Combo (sort of goofy combination) fired the longer barrel quite a few times, after watching this I was inspired to fire some "high brass" buck through the security barrel (left the normal butt-stock on)... I thought Hickcok was overselling the punch of 12 gauge, when I pulled the trigger I found out how wrong I was and how right he is...lol. I am going to buy the longer deer hunting barrel so I can shoot buck and slugs without taking my shoulder off.

Take the barrel off and look down the mag tube at the forend. There should be a nut there. Tighten that up. I would use some type of forend wrench that you can buy from midway, brownells, etc. It makes it much easier than trying to do it with a screw driver. Then just put the barrel back on and your good to roll.
