Here's the thing: These political candidates, whether they win or not, send a message to other countries when they make these speeches at debates. These are REALLY dumb things to say, because Iran can ALWAYS air one of these and say, "See?! They want to come and get us, and we're not even doing anything."

The Iranians are not interested in starting a nuclear war with anyone, what they are actually trying to do is counterbalance Israels nuclear arsenal (officially they have 100 but it's more likely that number is closer to 500) and the potential threat they pose to Iran with a way of returning the favor should the Israelis ever get a wild hair up their ass and decide to do a preemptive nuclear attack against Iran in "self defense" similar to the shit they like to pull with their neighbors.

Huntsman seems to have the most logical defense plan out of the Republicans... He knows that we spend a lot simply because we have a lot, and that doesn't guarantee the best strategies.
Also, he believes our Europe allies should take more of the burden of military defense. The problem with the US military is that it's so big that our allies don't bother buffing theirs up because they want to rely on us all the time.
