Eddie was still drinking during this leg of the tour. Regardless, I saw him in Portland and he blew the fucking roof off the place. Also, Dave was singing better than he ever had before...paying way more attention to the vocals and less with screwing around.

I think both albums are great in there own ways...yet I have bought 1984 twice as much as the formats changed..and my car radios improved and stopped eating my tapes. This is a good example of why 84 sold more (other than the fact it has been out longer)

I saw Van halen in October and they were as great as ever. And it is obvious that David Lee Roth kicked Sammy Hagar's ass even if David did act like a chick.
I saw them for the first time July 23rd, 1979 at the Armory in Springfield, IL. It really wasn't a like a concert, it was like a 20 kegger back yard party! Fucking awesome show! 30 years later, this band is still kicking ass! And the Cradle is Rocking! Hats off and a Kung Fu bow to Wolfgang! I'm looking forward to their next album...how 'bout you?

Eddie was still drinking during this leg of the tour. Regardless, I saw him in Portland and he blew the fucking roof off the place. Also, Dave was singing better than he ever had before...paying way more attention to the vocals and less with screwing around.

They may have had more 1# albums with Sammy but they sold twice as many with dave. Eddie got the band where they are now, not Sammy or Dave. Also without the orignal Van Halen albums Van Halen wouldnt have been around for Sammy to even join. you have to admit alot of people bought those albums because they said VAN HALEN on it. The average person has usually never heard songs like "Take Me Back( Deja Vu) which is a great song. More people know Eruption and that wasnt on a 1# album

ok... 1984 I have owned 11 times ..5150 I have owned 5 times... I think both albums are great in there own ways...yet I have bought 1984 twice as much as the formats changed..and my car radios improved and stopped eating my tapes. This is a good example of why 84 sold more (other than the fact it has been out longer)

I saw them for the first time July 23rd, 1979 at the Armory in Springfield, IL. It really wasn't a like a concert, it was like a 20 kegger back yard party! Fucking awesome show! 30 years later, this band is still kicking ass! And the Cradle is Rocking! Hats off and a Kung Fu bow to Wolfgang! I'm looking forward to their next album...how 'bout you?

Wolfgang is technically excellent, plays all the right notes at the right time. He only 16-17 and isn't a seasoned performer so he not as exciting to watch as Michael Anthony, cut the kid some slack.
