  • more than 10 years have passed... used to be a kiddo back then... happily this music still reachs me

  • this song is just a version of dream a little dream

  • Heart Aching Nostalgia.

  • Almost cry everytime I see this episode

  • so simple, so peaceful, so beautiful

  • I just noticed.. Cosmos, Farewell Blues, and Stella By Moor have the same melody

    MIND BLOWN

  • that scene of spike walking through that town square on Venus while those spores fell silently like snow,it stays with me,its the first thing comes to mind when i hear this.

  • Just beautiful, lovely work from Yoko Kanno.

If Billie Holiday was a music box and/or celesta...........THIS SONG WOULD BE HER!!!!

  • wait a minute this is another version of the singing sea

  • @vegeetas and Cosmos is a variant of this

  • Spike: ........Bang.....

  • something beautiful... I'm afraid I lost that a long time ago.

  • Julia: It's all... a dream...

Spike Spiegel: Yeah... just a dream...

  • it makes me tear ;(

  • @tonylaf123 If the Japanese lady, I think her name is Kano, wrote this as well for Cowboy Bebop then it is music inspired by American Jazz music called "bebop". She visited America and listened to many different styles of American music to create a sound for Cowboy Bebop and her favorite was an old-fashioned type of jazz. I am not sure. "Bebop" might be from 1920's??

  • @patphatcat

    This song is Bebop? Seriously?

P.S.:Nice reply with all the info and stuff.

  • @tonylaf123 I should have been clearer. The opening theme "Tank" probably sounds more like "bebop". I can't really say for sure if this(piano playing) would be considered "bebop", just that the musical style for the anime was inspired by American "bebop". The "piano song" does remind me of a simple, old fashioned jazz song. I never, knowingly, heard "bebop" before and can only imagine what it might have sounded like. I have watched a few black and white shows/movies with jazz musicians playing.

  • @patphatcat Yeah well in this song, the instrument used is a vibraphone. I know what is bebop but this song is no bebop at all, it sounds more like a lubally or a musical box ish sound to me.

  • @tonylaf123 hmm maybe not a vibraphone after all, but kind of similar. a percussion tuned instrument for sure.

  • @tonylaf123 Xylophone??

  • @tonylaf123 Yes, definitely.

  • @patphatcat The music composer's name is Yoko Kanno, she's backed up by a jazz band called The Seatbelts. They also based Ed's character off of her, saying she's "Weird, and catlike, but is fun and knows what she's doing" or something to that extent.

  • @Berserkerlion817 I didn't know that. She's very talented and I enjoy the music a lot. Might get the CD.

  • Bang........thats all thats needed to be said when describing the Cowboy Bebop series

  • the best soundtrack made. I love how the japanese put their heart and soul into anime, get this amazing music...can't say the same for western cartoons....

  • @dendara100 Well, the western world did produce Animaniacs. They have to get credit for that. :)

  • @TheWickedWizardOfOz1 and all the batmans/x-men/spiderman....but really other than that...and nothing (other than Batman/Batman Beyond) got a decent soundtrack

  • @dendara100 You have a point there. The only American composer I can think of who put heart and soul into his music and "Western Cartoons" was Hoyt S Curtin (the man responsible for such great compositions as Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, Flintstones, Jetsons, Top Cat, etc.). That's just me though.

  • @dendara100 Also Richard Stone (Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid, Histeria, you get the idea; kind of like what WickedWizardOfOz1 said).

  • @HardyRStudios true true, also the guys who brought us Batman Beyond soundtrack, it was really impressive for the type of world they created...And generally the Batman movies (Mask of the Phantasm) etc

  • @dendara100 Oh definitely, Shirley Walker was an underrated genius (her work on Justice League SuperMan The Animated Series and like what you said... Batman The Animated Series.)

  • The combination of this tune and spike(or julia, idr lol) dropping the rose in the puddle while its raining always gets to me... :)

  • There are many stories about Spike Spiegel, some say he was a good man, some say there was nothing good in him at all, the one person you could count on to have your back, the one person you'd hate having on your trail if you're on the wrong side, there hasn't been much about him lately since the time he left to fight Vicious, but he's out there somewhere just living a dream. Will he ever return? Well no one will ever know for sure. Until next time though. See you Space Cowboy.

  • @Billy145891 I literally cried reading this

  • does anyone know that depressing but prety guitar song that plays during a depressing part in the anime especially at the end of episode Jamming With Edward?

  • @bluefir111 I think you mean waltz for zizi?

  • @SavagexRomance thanks that was the right one

  • greatest anime ever, best music from an anime ever, everything about this is simply beautiful.

  • @Drugernautt i looked for a melody for 7 years :)

    i know how it feels

  • @Drugernautt i know right?

  • This would be a perfect intro for "The Real Folk Blues" .

  • I want to go to Venus

  • two people love justin bieber

  • 2 people that listened to this have no soul.

  • @aresaid lies, 2 people found solar tracking devices inside of music boxes.

  • This is why YouTube needs a replay button.

  • @HardyRStudios What? It already has one. What are you talking about?

  • @Rezindez Oops, my bad. I forgot about that, now I feel stupid, and thank you so much for reminding me.

  • @HardyRStudios You're welcome, I guess.

  • @Rezindez You can put "repeat" after "youtube" and before ".com" and it will play over and over and over

  • @DarkMobias Neat. Maybe you can tell it to the guy who would cut off a toe for that information. Namely, the guy I'm talking to.

  • @DarkMobias really nice dude :D, thumbs up

  • Dream a little dream 'bout me.

  • tick . . . tick . . . (BOOM!) Never though so much explosive would fit in a music box.

  • If I owned a coffee shop, I think I would play this every night as I closed up shop.

  • My goodness...I can't stop the tears from flowing...The pain...It hurts so beautifully...And so painfully...I love Cowboy Bebop so much...

  • "Your gonna carry that weight"

  • Take me to the singing sea~

Ahhh, I loved this episode. It was really sad though...

    Bebop has some awesome music.

  • There's a group of songs like "Adieu", "Farewell blues", "Cosmos" etc. with this melody... It's like a grouping of songs that fit one emotion...

  • @Bebop56210 memories

  • Memory

  • This song makes me think about my past.

  • Lost in our memories, I see...your face...and smile

  • Stella:Hey, what was Roco really like?

Spike:You know better than anyone without looking. He was a terrific guy, exactly the person you thought he was.

  • @TheBramblestar way to make me tear up, asshole <3

  • Such a haunting melody.

  • I cant remember the part of the anime this song was in, it makes me sad, i think its time to go rewatch bebop...

  • @Dubbuhya Haha, one of my favorite scenes. Spike just stepping up the same stair over and over. He definantly had the trippiest trip. I wish I tripped ike that.

  • this sounds like it belongs in one of bioshocks trailers

  • Frog: Hey there mister, don't you know this is the stairway to heaven?

Spike: ... Obnoxious little frog ...

  • @Dubbuhya lol love that episode hahaha

  • @Dubbuhya that's is so damn cool!

  • @SpikeCowboyBebop

That's become my motto in my life for some time now. Whenever something bad happens, there's no point to get stressed over it, or feel regret on what you could have done. You just accept it and move on. Only by moving on and working towards making things better will they actually become better.

  • @CrimsonZeroX I could not agree more. My mum worries all the time about things she can't influence and Im like.. chill!

  • Same melody as Farewell Blues . Bang!

  • i could listen to this for hours and still feel the same goosebumps from the first time i heard it

  • Stella: Hey, what was Roco really like?

Spike: You know without looking right? He was great guy, just like you the one you knew...

  • I always get the chill when listening to this.. *thinks of falling snowflakes and the Adult Swim Cowboy Bebop promo*

  • @SuperLuigiBros me 2

  • this song makes me depressed..more than i was already haha

  • sounds like "words that we couldn't say"

  • @o0Godfather It's actually "The Singing Sea".

  • This will be what I'd want to listen to before Earths destruction...or during the last few minutes of my life (old age).

  • isnt thiss also titeld walts for venus

  • wait... isnt this the music box version of Goodnight Julia?

  • @LockePhilote

No... I guess this is the "music box version" of "The Singing Sea".

    ^^

  • Bang...

  • which episode was this from

  • @Steviedude12 Waltz for Venus

  • This and Elfen Lied: "Lilium," are very heart felt for me.

  • Wtf? Andy was amazing! One episode and he became one of my favorite characters!

  • "....just a dream."

  • Great series, sad ending, awesome characters (except the one off Andy guy)

  • @LegendStormcrow Fuck you talking bout? Andy is GREAT!

  • @daniel1982 andy was great but spike was just better .

  • @thetruth4live I am not arguing with you. But Vicious was just as good.

  • @daniel1982 yeah true he was badass .i wish i had seen him more

  • It's raining on Venus

  • there will and always will be something magical about cowboy bebop...

  • bang.

  • great anime wish it had more episodes.

  • @majid429 It ended on a note of perfection.~

  • Man, why did I watch the spoiler of the episode after the first 5 episodes?!?! Just ruined the whole feel of the anime...but I still watched it and loved it ;) R.I.P Spike

  • its never too late to watch it.

  • @DougDP Not to be an ass, but you may have just ruined the whole series for other people too....

  • did you see the other episodes or did you just stop at that one?

  • see ya around space cow boy

  • The stars are bright, but give no light. The world spins backward everyday.

  • Every time I hear this I think of the best old fashioned Christmas

  • every time i hear this i think of a blind girl on venus, who's only wish is to see her brother with her own eyes.

  • @lordthanator This made me warm up inside aww

  • i have got to get a music box like this

  • i love this... thank you....

  • I'd give an arm or leg for a genuine music box of this song.

  • if u find one let me know cuz i would love to have something like that

  • lost innocence

  • so simple yet so meaningful...thats life

  • funny. i've always thought of it the other way round. life's pretty much as complicated as it comes, and in the end, nothing really means anything :P

  • this song reminds me of love

  • ......see you in

    space cowboy.....

  • this sounds like singing sea II

  • it is jus like remixed so it could be like a music box in ep 8

  • Someday I'll have this made into a music box...

  • i thought the same thing! Lol! I think in the series it is a music box

  • It was the venus episode with the flower. Nice song one of those you gotta sit back and lose your eyes.

  • Heh.

  • lol meant close your eyes >.>

  • Oh, I gotcha now. I actually thought you were making a Spike pun, you know missing eye and all.

  • @Ubisunt0 jeez thats awful god i dont want to lose my eyes hehe

  • @Mustee0584

Hell ya! I'd so buy one.

  • Yeah, I priced how much it would be to make a custom music box years ago. Not cheap. I want this song as a music box too lol

  • OMG OMG Hoooolyyy....pretty with a pistol...

  • @Mustee0584 I wish I could too :-/

  • @Mustee0584 I actually did. Cost me a fortune. When I went to Iraq as a 19 year old, I wanted to let my little sister know that no matter what happened, her brother would always love her. We has seen this episode when we were kids. I sent in a clip of it, and for a hefty chunk of my deployment money, they made it. Well worth it.

  • @S0N0FLIBERTY Where did you send it to? I'm interested in having one of these made myself.

  • @S0N0FLIBERTY That's beautiful.

  • i wonder is this heavens elevator music

  • Heaven's elevator music!!?!? That had me laughing outloud. Still I wonder,I know that there are stairways to heaven, but elevators? Who knows, you may be right.

  • @babymike01 Actually, it's the total opposite.

See you in Hell, Space Cowboy...

  • @babymike01 Hmm.... nice.

  • @babymike01 dude..u nailed it on the spot. nuff said=)

  • @babymike01 OMG that is exactly what I think of when I hear this lmao

  • I feel like in a black-and-white dream scene, and as i hear this song little sparkles of colors start to appear as I wake up

  • I love this song. This been my shit since I saw the episode and when Rocco died

  • wow this is really one of the best songs its use in the episode where the blind ladies brother gets killed is one of the most amazing artistic works ive seen in a while thanks yoko and thanks videgenial2 for posting it this song is truly an epic adventure into the unknown world

  • sounds like a jewelry box. beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, taht does sound relaxing. something about this soundtrack makes you want to smoke, lol. i'm resisting the urge.

  • thats fucking awesome!

  • i been meaning to ask someone this but i really want toknow were i need to go or how i can have someone make a this exact music on a music box DOES ANYONE KNOW WERE I CAN GET ONE

  • Yoko Kanno's music box music - from any series or game - is among the saddest music ever written.

  • wow i love these Xylophone songs, this and memory are sick. =D

  • I thought it was a Xylophone, but everyone's talkin about music boxes. I think they're right O_o

  • naw, def a Xylophone.

  • It's a music box in the actual cartoon

  • makes me wish that life was better for all of us... wishing, kinda hurts to think about it sometimes.

  • Your comment is very touching, it matches the music.

  • thanks! I agree with you. for some reason i was compelled to write those words down. it just felt right you know?

  • Word.

  • Your happiness, your future.... they're yours alone to decide.

And in the spirit of Spike, I say "Whatever happens.... happens." We have to do what Spike had always struggled to do.... which is to simply move on.... move on to better things...

  • yes words of wisdom right there

  • ...Such a sad episode...

  • It was the first one I ever watched. Very saddening indeed.

  • beautiful

  • This song touches the heart.

  • Thats really great!

  • sad, yet beautiful.

  • Hermoza cancion.

  • This song reminds me of when my older brother watched cowboy bebop, before I knew how good it was. I wasn't watching with him, but I heard this song and it stuck with me until I watched Cowboy Bebop myself.

  • Hey what a curious history, It hapenned to me as well My elder brother watched the show and then i got totally mezmerised with the music. Sometimes I think this show changed a lot in me...a long time ago

  • I remember watching the first episode some years ago. It was my first anime and I think it was the song "Memory" that convinced me to watch.

  • I love this piece and how its theme is repeated throughout the series in different songs (Singing Sea, Words that We Couldn't Say, etc).

Always bringing something different and yet pulls you back to something familiar.

  • It just like Memory and Adieu.

  • bliss
