that scene of spike walking through that town square on Venus while those spores fell silently like snow,it stays with me,its the first thing comes to mind when i hear this.
@tonylaf123 If the Japanese lady, I think her name is Kano, wrote this as well for Cowboy Bebop then it is music inspired by American Jazz music called "bebop". She visited America and listened to many different styles of American music to create a sound for Cowboy Bebop and her favorite was an old-fashioned type of jazz. I am not sure. "Bebop" might be from 1920's??
@tonylaf123 I should have been clearer. The opening theme "Tank" probably sounds more like "bebop". I can't really say for sure if this(piano playing) would be considered "bebop", just that the musical style for the anime was inspired by American "bebop". The "piano song" does remind me of a simple, old fashioned jazz song. I never, knowingly, heard "bebop" before and can only imagine what it might have sounded like. I have watched a few black and white shows/movies with jazz musicians playing.
@patphatcat Yeah well in this song, the instrument used is a vibraphone. I know what is bebop but this song is no bebop at all, it sounds more like a lubally or a musical box ish sound to me.
@patphatcat The music composer's name is Yoko Kanno, she's backed up by a jazz band called The Seatbelts. They also based Ed's character off of her, saying she's "Weird, and catlike, but is fun and knows what she's doing" or something to that extent.
the best soundtrack made. I love how the japanese put their heart and soul into anime, get this amazing music...can't say the same for western cartoons....
@TheWickedWizardOfOz1 and all the batmans/x-men/spiderman....but really other than that...and nothing (other than Batman/Batman Beyond) got a decent soundtrack
@dendara100 You have a point there. The only American composer I can think of who put heart and soul into his music and "Western Cartoons" was Hoyt S Curtin (the man responsible for such great compositions as Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, Flintstones, Jetsons, Top Cat, etc.). That's just me though.
@dendara100 Also Richard Stone (Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid, Histeria, you get the idea; kind of like what WickedWizardOfOz1 said).
@HardyRStudios true true, also the guys who brought us Batman Beyond soundtrack, it was really impressive for the type of world they created...And generally the Batman movies (Mask of the Phantasm) etc
@dendara100 Oh definitely, Shirley Walker was an underrated genius (her work on Justice League SuperMan The Animated Series and like what you said... Batman The Animated Series.)
There are many stories about Spike Spiegel, some say he was a good man, some say there was nothing good in him at all, the one person you could count on to have your back, the one person you'd hate having on your trail if you're on the wrong side, there hasn't been much about him lately since the time he left to fight Vicious, but he's out there somewhere just living a dream. Will he ever return? Well no one will ever know for sure. Until next time though. See you Space Cowboy.
does anyone know that depressing but prety guitar song that plays during a depressing part in the anime especially at the end of episode Jamming With Edward?
@Dubbuhya Haha, one of my favorite scenes. Spike just stepping up the same stair over and over. He definantly had the trippiest trip. I wish I tripped ike that.
That's become my motto in my life for some time now. Whenever something bad happens, there's no point to get stressed over it, or feel regret on what you could have done. You just accept it and move on. Only by moving on and working towards making things better will they actually become better.
Man, why did I watch the spoiler of the episode after the first 5 episodes?!?! Just ruined the whole feel of the anime...but I still watched it and loved it ;) R.I.P Spike
@Mustee0584 I actually did. Cost me a fortune. When I went to Iraq as a 19 year old, I wanted to let my little sister know that no matter what happened, her brother would always love her. We has seen this episode when we were kids. I sent in a clip of it, and for a hefty chunk of my deployment money, they made it. Well worth it.
Heaven's elevator music!!?!? That had me laughing outloud. Still I wonder,I know that there are stairways to heaven, but elevators? Who knows, you may be right.
wow this is really one of the best songs its use in the episode where the blind ladies brother gets killed is one of the most amazing artistic works ive seen in a while thanks yoko and thanks videgenial2 for posting it this song is truly an epic adventure into the unknown world
