@Imyourcounciousness I got mine from prairiemoon dot BIZ - its a 1 liter model. Each charge cartridge does 1 liter; they are about 5 bucks for a 10 pack.

Here's a much easier method: Make up a sugar syrup on the stovetop:

In a saucepan, mix 1 cup water with 1 cup vanilla-sugar (over medium heat). Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Allow to cool, then mix 2 to 3 Tbsps of this syrup into a regular sized glass, and fill the rest with ice-cold Soda water!

The syrup should keep at least a week in the fridge AND you don't have to spend ages trying to stir the sugar into cold water every time you want a Cream Soda... ;)

Yeah, that's how I make my normal sugar syrup for most sodas. I just don't have enough vanilla sugar/make enough cream soda to do it for cream soda. (I had the misfortune to keep some of my syrup for too long once and had the lovely taste of mildew). But if you're going to make more than one glass a week I'd totally recommend this method.

If you want to keep the syrup for more than a week, freeze it into ice cubes! Just use a regular ice tray. Freeze it. Put the cubes in a ziploc bag. It will keep indefinitely in the freezer! Sure, you have to thaw them before you can make a glass, but you do that in the microwave.

As for the carbonated water, I also brew beer, and have a 20-pound CO2 tank and spare kegs (5-gallon soda kegs). I can carbonate 5 gallons at once and always have plenty on hand. :-)

Cream is (most of the time) not an actual component of cream soda, at least in the US.

Right. Its plain water, that is charged with a small CO2 cartridge, which creates soda water.
