i've been there and seen him. last year he got a sweet dog named cinderella. she is so good at schooner. yall need to listen to schoner wharf bar dog. thats my fav song frm him, idk if its even on here
Michael's a talented guy - but just because it's the same theme - there's nothing about the melody or lyric that is plagiarism - you cannot copyright an idea - it's just a reality. If he "stole your IDEA" (which I personally doubt) - you can still make yours a "hit", too - if it's good enough and the public wants to buy it!!
I can attest to the fact that Michael wrote this song more than 2 decades ago. I am his oldest child- I'm 38 now- and while we may not always have a mutual admiration thing, I do firmly believe that Mr. Keith plagiarized it from my father.
Toby didn't win the lawsuit...Michael dropped the law suit...i know this for a fact he and i had a long talk about it over christmas...im currently dating his daughter Aja Jones McCloud
Well I may be a Toby Keith fan myself, but I do see the smiliarities in the chorus of both songs, and it does seem rather "convenient" that Toby recorded this song just 25 yards away from this bar, but regardless of opinions or similarities that you can't deny, Toby Keith did in fact win the lawsuit andalthough I'm not taking sides here, I do find a bit of coincidence behind it all. Who knows. But I can say that if I was Mr. McCloud, I would have probably been just as upset.
Whoa, I never said Toby didn't get the idea from this guy. I said it isn't plagiarism, and I don't see how writing a similar song and giving it a new twist is plagiarism.
Are you shitting me? This is awful. I thought this guy was supposed to be a legend.

That's interesting since his last name's not McCloud (that's a stage name)--it's Snyder.

I spent a week in Key West and Mr. Michael McCloud made it a great experiance. Mike, thanks for doing Layla for me.

It's not plagiarism, so I can't believe he won. He may be lying...Toby liked the idea and gave it his own twist, it's not plagiarism.
