Was this biodiesel really dry? Dry as in low water content, that can make a huge difference.

No, the engine is a Norvel, made in Russia using, unique aerospace technology. Hard anodized cylinder with a nickle plated piston. No one else does it this way.
What I made was the diesel head. This has a contra-piston instead of a glow plug.
