  • what sansa is this

  • e250

  • how did u get super mario brothers....wen i installed rockbox on mine, i didnt get this game or "counter-strike"...btw i have an e250...please respond

  • Mario brothers is a game boy color rom (check google). Counter strike is a doom .wad

  • do u have a link for counter strike..? btw thanks for responding :D

  • Search for "counter strike sansa lodist" on google. Should be a thread about it.

  • It is an e250 v1

No rockbox for the view yet.

  • Hey do they have this for the sandisk sansa fuze? yet.

  • Wait just a Minuit Pokemon gold YESSS!!!.. i hope you can save the games :D

  • i have a e260 and a mac os x i want rockbox really bad but i cant figure it out at all can some1 help me

  • will this workon the fuze?

  • nope

  • dam thx for reply

  • thier working on it on the sansa fuze and clip.

  • do they have it up yet? (ik its only been a week since u said that)

  • Google "rockbox targetstatus" for all info on Rockbox port development. (make sure targetstatus is one word).

  • NOT YET!!! but it will be

  • how do i get my plasma screen as fast as yours

  • hey will this work for my sansa e 260 r??

  • It will work for the sansa e250

  • It might, if only the back of your player says that and but the version has to be actually version 1. (even though my sansa says rapsody on back, its not really the rapsody version so it works on mine)

  • When it for the directory, it won't let me choose my sansa e250, any way this can be fixed?

  • When it asks for the directory to put the files into* forgot that little part.

  • Can someone give me a link to get ROMS for mario, pac man and anything else?

  • isn't unofficial firmware illegal lol

  • No, not at all... It voids the warranty, and its unsupported by Sandisk, but its definitely not illegal.

  • I just installed a bunch of ROMs, but the audio for all of them is terrible (crackly, broken audio)... is this normal?

  • Yeah, they haven't gotten the audio working well yet.

  • dude i downloaded and installed ur rockbox..and i dont have mario and gamboy games...can u help?

  • Go to google and search for GBC roms. Copy them to your Sansa, then navigate to them through the file manager in Rockbox to play.

  • so rockbox supports roms?!!! OMG AWESOME!!

  • GB and GBC roms. Also doom WADs.

P.S. Make sure you put the skip frames setting up when playing GBC games, else it will lag.

  • ok so there a pacman game in rockbox..but it says file missing or something..any help?

  • Check out the Lodist forums, they have a thread on how to get Pacman working, if memory serves.

  • i found a rom-spiderman.gbc and when i tried to play it said uncompatible model...i even changed it to .ROCK

  • how to i remap the rockboy buttons

  • You need to go to options, which I think you get to by hitting the record key.

  • thanks once again

  • np, have fun. ;)

  • i took the batery out but the screen was all funny looking...why was that? and how do i add videos and new themes?i really would like to know?

  • and i have an e250

  • I don't know anything about the screen looking funny, I have never taken out the battery. To find themes google "wps rockbox e200 gallery" use second link. Download a theme (.zip file). Extract it to the root of your player.

To add videos, you need to convert them to the right format, then you can just browse to them inside the rockbox file browser. Google "Getting good video on Rockbox" for my instructions on video conversion.

  • P.S. Include the quotes on the second google search.

  • it was looking like a tv with the different colored bas and froze so took the battery out probably just a mistake i made.

ill check out your video too...thans for the help...ill be back...soon

  • i just got this like 3 minutes ago and i have some questions...

can i put my own pic as the backdrop...i just messed some up ill be back probably

  • Yeah, you can use your own pic for a backdrop, just make sure its the right dimensions 176x200. Also, if you plan on using the gameboy emulator put a string of black pixels along the right side (1 pixel wide).

  • you lost me on the game boy emulator thingy

  • the menu looks sooooooo ugly compared to the original fimware that comes with the sansa

  • There are dozens of themes you can use with it. The Now Playing screens look a lot better, imo.

Plus, you can change themes within Rockbox.

Gotta try it for yourself, and you will become a believer. :P

  • ok, ill have to wait cuz my sansas having some problems

  • I have a question. Why is RockBox such an power drainer? I am listening to music and it's fully charged and tells me that I only have 5 hours left. I usually get around 15 without rockbox but I don't understand why it wastes so much power. I have the scroll wheel light off and any other option to optimize battery life

  • It doesn't really waste power, it just doesn't handle power consumption as well as the default firmware (yet).

You should be getting decent time with it though. Make sure you have screen timeout set to something reasonable, then plug in a pair of headphones, set to a volume you like, and see how long it actually runs. I had my battery at half power once, and it ran for 4 hours, and still had about 25% power left.

  • actually it doesn't drain power. It has an incorrectly working battery reader.

  • It's ok. I was reading through the thread and I found how to fix the problem. I had to uninstall rockbox and then reinstall it in the root folder. I rebooted it and it installed perfectly. I have been exploring it and love it. You've done a great job with this. I have reccomended this program to my friends and one of them is buying a sansa just to have it. Thanks for the help!

  • Final question, I installed it but nothing happened. I see the files in the right place and rebooted the sansa but it just went back to original firmware (I did put Rockbox as primary firmware)

  • You have an e200 version 1? You sure you put Rockbox as primary? Did you reboot more than once, since the first time it just updates the firmware?

  • Sorry to bother you but I heard that it doesn't support sound. Is this true? Also when I tried to install it, it said to designate a file to put rockbox in but there are only several files to put it into in MSC mode unlike MTP mode where you can use the whole 4 gigs. Which file do I put it into?

  • Rockbox has supported sound for about a year now. :P

Are you using the installer from the description link? If so, when you install, you want to install it to the root (the drive), of the sansa. For example, if your Sansa is drive E, you would install Rockbox to E:\

MSC mode should allow you full access to all the files, it is drag and drop mode. MTP mode is the more restricted mode, used for syncing through WMP and the like.

  • Also, are all the previous features still accessible? (i.e. FM tuner, recorder, video, etc..)

  • You can still boot into the original firmware after installing Rockbox, the only difference will be the ability to also use Rockbox.

  • Can I still put music on normally with rockbox on there?

  • how the hell can!!! u play those games and not be able to play gba on sansa !!!!! that doesent make any sense!111111111111

  • Uh, not really, It makes perfect sense. Lookup the specs on the GBA processor compared to the system specs required to play doom (which is what counterstrike was).

doom = much older and lighter on resources

  • what is the risk of it making your sansa no longer work!?

  • As in percentage? Maybe 1%.

  • can u give me the link for the counterstrike rom. ive been looking for it all daay (my english teacher was getting pissy too lol)

  • its actually alreasdy on it

just go to play doom and its one of the things in the list look a little bit and youll find it

  • Armoredcavalry:

I installed and everything is great i got working most of the gameboy color games on the sansa but cant seen to get to work legend of zelda, also i tryed to install a new theme but after i installed rockbox didnt load anymore, i needed to install it again and delete the new theme and everythings back to normal now...

do new themes go in the rockbox theme folder?

    thanx man

  • Name the theme file OF.mi4 and put it in the SYSTEM folder on your Sansa. Then, it will be your alternate firmware.

  • yep that did the job, thanx again armor dude ;)

  • would it work on the 4gb version?

  • Yes sir, all e200 series (version 1's).

  • cool,i just got today the 2gb version after looking everywhere for it,i will try rockbox tonite.

  • whats the version 1?

  • Check the back, if it doesn't say version 2, or something along those lines, its a version 1.

  • the back of what?...and do u mean the version of firmware?

  • The back of your player. No, its an version 2's have different hardware, thus, do not yet work with Rockbox. They have a different version of firmware as well, but that alone wouldn't stop Rockbox from working.

  • Will Rockbox work with a 4GB Sansa Connect? If not, is there any other alternative firmware available?

  • No Rockbox does not work with the Connect. I do not know of any alternative firmware for the connect.

  • Dios mio... and to think, I just ordered one of these for $29.99 today and didn't know about Rockbox.

  • I'm guessing you wooted a refurb one? :)

I was thinking about getting one for a sibling, but refurb always makes me nervous.

    Have fun with Rockbox. :)

  • I did indeed get the woot... if it isn't a great refurb then I can resell it on ebay or something.

  • Yah, good point. Eh, for 35 bucks w/ shipping, you can't go wrong. :)

  • Well, what browser are you using? And watch the language plz....

  • the battery life is shocking with e200 and rockbox, i am lucky to get 3 hours

  • With Rockbox running? That's odd. I get close to the same as I do in the Sandisk firmware. I have my LCD timeout set to 15 seconds, and scrollwheel light to off.

  • How do you go back to the original firmware???

  • If you used my installer than double click on the unistall.bat file on your Sansa. Then reboot.

  • if you only want to load the original firmware, hold down the left arrow key when you turn it on and it will load the original firmware... note, dont let go of the left key until it shows the boot loader

  • does this work with e280r?

  • Yes, but you have to manually install it manually, which invovles patching the bootloader in Linux.

If interested, search "SansaE200RInstallation" (in quotes) on google to take you to the instructions.

  • thanks a lot

  • do you know the luink for goldeneye

  • Youtube won't allow links to be posted.

Search for the thread titled "Play Counter strike, quake etc games on your sansa"

Took me two seconds to find manually, I imagine using the search tool will work even faster. :)

  • Now Rhapsody is supported, you have to use Linux to patch the bootloader though.

  • does any one know where i can download goldeneye 007 for rockbox

  • Go to the Lodist(.)com Sansa/Rockbox section.

  • oh yes 1 quick question. besides up down left and right. do u use the center button and the record button as A and B?

  • You can map the buttons any way you want, so yes. :)

  • if your looking for GB roms. go to romhustler(dot)net

  • i finally installed it and got mario, but it runs very slow, why?

  • Turn Frameskip to maximum and sound off. Go to lodist(.)com for more info. Remember Rockbox is a work in progress, so not everything is going to be perfect...

  • yea i figure it out b4 i read this thanx tho,got any suggestions for any other playeable games......lol

  • can u still listen 2 ur music with this

  • I could either say

    A)Ever heard of google??

    or

B)Yes,in fact, more formats than the Sandisk firmware...

  • Where you get games

  • A wonderful site called google...

  • hey were do i get the counter strike game and how do i install it

  • Click link in description. ;)

  • And can u make a video of a guide how u installed the Rockbox on ur Sansa. Step by step. that would be very help ful. :)

  • Read the description of the video... doh!

  • right at the RockBox screen what did u prees to go to the Rox box meneu where u were able to select the games,

  • I was in the file browser and I opened my games folder by pressing the middle (select) button.

  • funny how you jumped to your death

  • Yeah, I was holding the Sansa at a weird angle for the camera. :)

  • can you post a link to where you downloaded those?

  • Check the description.

    Its been posted. :)

  • how did you get your gb games full screen?

  • Go under options, then select scale.

  • I found out that game boy advance games are not supported only game boy color and game boy

  • Yeep

  • when i try to open the gba rom on the file browser it just opens a .bin file.

  • I tried doing your method to play gba games, but it doesn't work. I think i'm doing something wrong. Please ,explain the process step by step.

  • how exactly do you put games on and to make them show up in the plugins list?

  • For gameboy games, all you have to do is copy the ROM file to your Sansa. Then you use the Rockbox file browser to open the .gba or .gbc file.

  • Yes I figured that out a while ago, but now i need a little bit of help, where do you download, and how do you put them on your sansa?

  • PLEASE send me a .zip or .rar copy og that game! I cant find any good roms anywhere

  • Ever heard of google? :)

  • i dont get it... was that game doom with a counterstrike skin? or was that counterstrike..?

  • Doom with a counterstrike skin (addon).

  • just a rockbox theme many of them

  • Oh, you mean the backdrop? Yeah, that is just a picture.

  • It is open source... :/

  • is that rokbox related somehow to linux ?

  • yeah im not sure, but i think rockbox is based on linux. check Rockbox . org though

  • No, Rockbox is not based off of Linux.

  • THAT IS VERRY COOL.
