i ment steel wool i had a typo, after you wrap the steel wool around the wires and solder them get some pyrodex use in mussel louders, 50 cal, and put a little water on it till it desolves make a paste out of it then dip your fuse in that and alow to dry one or two hours, this makes great fuses, the pyrodex drys rock hard and smooth, and burns great, just dont bang on pyrodex it can be unstable, once wet its pritty safe, happy rocketry, David*
the easyest way to fire off a rocket is with cannon fuse, i think some call it visco fuse use 1/8th inch fuse, you can buy it at must gun shops, if your country doesent have a gun shop as i know many don't you can use two 9 volt batterys or four AA's or a car or lawn mower battery,it only takes 4.6 volts to ignite a estes wire fuse, ive found if you like electric fuses get some #3 stell wool course, and pull a bit out a string of it and wrap it around two wires and solder them, David*
I always buy the cheap rockets and then modify them. In one, if my math is right my rocket that was only 5 in long went 200 fps! 5 more of those and I would have broken the sound barrier!!!!
Crazy you lost it for 3 months. The E9-6 motor doesn't really go much higher than the C6-5, although your rocket looks like a heavy log which I guess is what the E's are for. I love these damn things!
When I was in Jr. high school, a buddy of mine decided to take an Estes C6-5 apart and powder it up. He then touched electrodes to the powder and received a flash burn (sunburn) a second or two later. He looked like he had been in the sun for hours. This was the same kid who cleaned out the lawn mower grass chute with his hand only to end up in the hospital with stitches on the end of his finger.
last time i messed with one of these was in the mid 90s when i was 15 or so. Not sure what engines I had, but that sucker went at least 500 feet or more..parachute deployed....and drifted off into the ocean. lol it was fun while it lasted
lol man i lost mine for like 3 months too, i was walking down a street in the opp direction it went and fond it lol, dog pulled my that way tho, german sheperds are pro
Wal-mart (as much as hate it) has C6-3, 6-5, and 6-7 engines for under $5 per pack and the packs include igniters, plugs, and wadding! That's 3 bucks cheaper than hobby stores and includes wadding.
3 months eh? that happened to me but it was lost for a week. so inorder to avoid that i strpaed my rocket with a green laser. so at night i see the laser beam and find it.
nice flight. e motors are awesome. too bad i live on long island and theres no good place to shoot rockets so theres always a good chance of loosing it. what model was that ne way? looks like a small rocket for an E.
ahh i used a d motor for a home mande shuttle that was very, very little and light. It was day time and there was no tree. The rocket got so damn high i just could see it...
Is that a blue ninja

I knew that sucker was gone before you pressed the button. Isn't there a field near you, or do you like the challenge of threading the needle?

I had a 2 stage rocket on C motors. During flight, one of the fins broke off and it shot into the woods never to be seen again.

Wow..........those "E" engines are pretty powerful. I never used E's before. Where was it lost ? In a tree ?

Sweet....back in 1980, I found a large diameter tube that I could fit about 15 C6-5 engines into.
I glued them in.
Launch was unreal and I never saw it again.

ink13jr: any model rocket that takes D engines will take E size engines if they are secured in the mounting hole well enough ;-)

ok What is the easiest way of lighting of one of these rocket engines? (without the actual electric ignitor)
hurricane4777 3 years ago

cradleoffilthfan1991 3 years ago
where did you find it? thats why you shouldnt launch it in your backyard lol. what i hate aobut these is that you cant fly it in wind.
