  • UNBELIEVABLY GREAT sounding Live!!!! DAMN, Richard can sing and it obviously wasn't studio magic. SO glad I found this - takes me back......LOVE it!

  • the furs are pretty in any color.

    oxrod48

  • To this day, this is still one of the great standards of the punk era. There may be no such thing as perfect.. but this rift is damn close.

  • @WaxHeadroom how did you know that..???.

  • John Ashton is a great guitarrist!

  • I remember watching this on the Old Grey Whistle Test first time round! It is still one of the great songs and live TV performances! Am I really this old!!

  • Peter Cook + Cesar Romero =

  • @Spankabuttux I LOLd.

  • great song...he's not attempting to copy bowie.he jut happens to sound quite a bit like him at times.nothing wrong with that .it reminds me of how people used to say creed's scott stap was trying to sound like the band pearl jam.absurd nonsense.both bands are great and stand all on their own.btw, thanks for this video.been on youtube for hours tonight reliving the 80's.

  • The time machine is working, sends me back to my youth...love it there and now!!!!!!!!

  • lovely.. brilliant band. have seen them live with love too many times to count,, Xj

  • wish they would come home and tour uk

  • Love it, yeahhhhh!

  • Great band early days then pish....not sure about their trousers either

  • 0:22 i love it...

  • @NatschIdle93 Hahahaha, exactley.

  • THIS IS TIMELESS ITS LIKE STEPPING BACK IN TIME , GOING TO MY RECORD PLAYER AND PUTTING ON THE VINYL , GETTING MY DREADS STRAIGHT AND PAINTING MY EYES , ADJUST YA BASQUE AND RUN OUTTA THE DOOR .. PRICELESS

  • SAW THEM AT THE HMV FORUM 28.10.2010 STILL AWSOME

  • This is one of their best songs...never looked so up-dated. Especially here in Brazil...president elections in October 2010. This song should be played on every election across the planet...perhaps some people will start to think and choose their candidates better.

  • looked like Rotten (cept cuter) sung like Bowie, danced like Jagger. Perfect.

  • @subatomiccupcake /// But he stands on his own all the way!

  • Man, what a killer bass-line this song has.

  • I can see a bit of a Bowie/Rotten comparison, but I do think Richard Butler stands on his own. What a great song by the way....have always LOVED President gas!

  • great song! love this! .... but who's the wanker with the clipboard? check out that expression @ 0:01

  • molto david bowie

  • i've always liked the way he sings... his voice is like velvet, such great vocals!

  • I saw the world Tour 1984--my aunt brought me...it was great but i doubt you can take kids to shows like this anymore--with the pussy revolution that happend in the 90s keeping kids away from cool shit.

  • The Missing Link...I Once Read. Legendary... I hitch-hiked 1200 miles to steal this lp.

  • Went to furs concert on acid . what a trip

  • Saw them live in Birmingham, Alabama at sloss furnace in 1983,....what a great show. Great band that defined my 80's

  • I would have died to them see them perform THIS at Sloss Furnace. I'd be trippin', and trippin' on acid too.

  • Wasn't trippin cause we couldn't find the acid but we were grooving on some fine Jamaican as I remember it. Cheers!

  • My favourite by the Furs. What a voice!

  • Butler claimed to have quit drinking and drugs in 83 but it's a known face he would sneak into the Mission's room (when they were opening for the Furs) and do lines.

  • i love how the mic fell in the begining lol but he shook it off pretty good

  • But what is Danny Elfman doing there?

  • I saw them in 1983 o,or was it '84, in Houston ,it was F-ING GREAT!!! During the chorus Richard would march across the stage "Nazi" style, arm raised in the heil Hitler pose legs popping up and down straight as a board as he marched. The crowd drank it up and loved it.Aahhhh great times...... Thanks for uploading...

  • he has a really lovely sneer, if i do say so myself.

  • bass player sounds like banjamin orr of the cars

    both excellent bass sounding guitars!

    great song also!

  • AWESOME !!!

  • Great vid, great track. Shame they started losing it by 'mirror moves'. Always wondered if Butler really was that fucked in these performances or just affected, know what I mean? As for the Bowie comparisons, many artists, in the UK in the early 80s/post-punk era were compared to Bowie, Roxy Music approach to music and style. Was a bit cliche'd at the time.

  • yea I was noticing that early some times not knowing .. makes them better

  • right on-i was always thinking just the same all these years

  • It's sick, the price of medicine...

  • Richard always gets compared to Bowie and Johnny Rotten (Bowie was a big Furs fan actually!) - and I don't think that's fair. He's an awesome vocalist and stands all on his own.

  • Bowie has good tastes xD. Never knew that, Richard really does stand on his own though. To me, one of the most distinctive voices to be heard.

  • and jagger.. but still his own cept his movements

  • people are always doing that; connecting everything new with an obvious choice. i know how you feel. i love bowie, yes, but he too was influenced by scott walker . check walker out if you havnt already. sometimes people lose the enjoyment of music when they see music as a winnable puzzle.

  • @spidermode neither Bowie nor Rotten could write this song, more political than either

  • can someone post "shock"

  • Wow..cool to see this live. Always thought Richard Butler was A bowie clone..but I cannot deny my love for the Furs.... really revolutionary stuff

  • Phill Calvert on Drums!

  • this song really needs to be covered. lyrically its more relevant than ever.

  • @xtristessax i agree big government is trying to take over

  • @xtristessax That doesnt mean that it should be covered. The cover would likely suck.

  • God bless the OGWT.

  • Knock, knock. Message sent yearrrs ago. Now your getting it.

  • hahahaha he looses the mic..

he sounds like a raspy david bowie

..he kind of looks like him too

  • What a great song! I haven't heard this in forever.

But what the hell is Tim wearing?! Those are some hot looking trousers!

  • what a blast from the past! One of my all time fav tunes

  • that shriek was the origination of 'omg shriek omg" it's sick rollerblades

    retro psycho comes in eyes

  • was he wasted???

  • More than likely at this point of his life.

  • Fantastic!!!!

Anyone got them doing "Forever Now"?

  • Their Best Song. Long Live The Furs !

  • awesome song awesome band !!!!

  • saw them live on this tour with a cellist- i much preferrd that version. butler is way underrated performer/songwriter- vastly influential artist and band.

  • cool!

  • far the best version of the song

  • Thanks, luv the Furs!

  • amazing , butler is god
