Great to see Glen rocking out in this video. It must have been hard on him being tossed out of the Sex Pistols in light of what they became. But to come back with such a killer song as this must have felt so so good. In my opinion this live version is better than the studio version--higher energy level. If you like this song, and who cannot like it, there's a utube guitar lesson from a guy playing amplified guitar. You can hear what a beautiful song this is because the dude really nails it.
What a great great song. Like the Rich Kids energy level here? Then check put their live videos from 1977 on utube and find their John Peel session from 1977 [4 songs] You wont be disappointed. The punkier Rich Kids.
Done a bit of research, knew my mind wasn't playing tricks. Revolver started out as a primetime show for one or two weeks then due to certain unsavoury elements associated with punk as perceived by ITV, it was moved to late nights.
Remember this show was on at about teatime after the football on a Saturday. ITV had a strange policy of putting music shows on to coincide with people eating their dinner in those days. They did it with Marc Bolan's show in 77 and before with all the glam rock stuff. Seems odd now.
@bodsnvimto You might be right, thinking back I do recall watching it late on Saturday though I also have memories of watching it in the early evening on Saturdays. Might have been repeats. Thanks for jogging my memory.
o my god i actually had tears in my eyes watching this. superb song. never thought i would see this performance again. god bless dlusman youre a fuckin hero
This song came in my head at work today, so I just had to hear it when I got home. Brilliant live version this one! Listening to this song, I feel as though it was influenced by The New York Dolls a la Johnny Thunders. Does anyone else pick that up?
Happy days! I got very much into the Rich Kids - & Eddie & the Hotrods, too - because of Revolver. Both bands were IMO weakly mixed on disc compared to their live showing on said programme.
I caught the show, every week, by putting the tape recorder up to the telly with the mic leading up to the volume outlet; anyone else remember those days?
Egan's drumming is incredible on this song, truly incredible. This is phenomenal, catchy, anthemic early punk that deserves to be better known. A rare and wonderful gem.
What awesome footage. Looking forward to seeing them at the Islington Academy tonight. They might look a little older now But I'm sure the songs will sound as great...
Bob on Harry and Pearsons. PIL reform? How can it be when there's only Lydon there? Post punk karaoke. I'll be there at Islington for Rich Kids. And how ahead of the game was Steve New's look on this clip?
Rich Kids gig! Proper punk tunes, killer riffs, hooks & totally catchy melodies-not PIL's wishy washy BORING shit -Lydon you can stick your overpriced egotistical gigs(in venues you cant sell out)Jones,Cook and esp. Matlock are surely laughing their arses off at your dismal failure. haha-everyone loves the RichKids & the Professionals cos they dont take the piss out of their fans expecting them to pay through the nose for UTTER SHIT...Fuck Off Lydon - you are finished without your 3 puppetmasters
One of my faves. An alltime classic!!! Rich Kids are reforming for a one-off gig in London on the 7th of january 2010!!!!! I fucking cant wait!!!!!Tickets on sale from friday. Only 17 quid,- PIL costs 36 quid. What a rotten greedy bastard Lydon is. Big respect to R.K. for the prices. Its a benefit for Steve New who has cancer. His new band will be playing as well plus lots of other guests as Viv Albertine, CarbonSilicon,TV Smith, Patti Palladin and many more ending with a Rich Kids set!! OHOHOHo
Please could anyone indicate me if there's any mp3 version of this stunning live recording somewhere? I love Rich Kids but I'm not really in love with the LP's version... here "Ghosts" really blows away the fuckin' world... another amazing yet criminally underrated band from the Seventies.
their LP was split between Ure and Matlock songs, the Ure ones were an early show of his new love of electronic music, and it had his 'punk' single from 77 that was recorded with his old band, cant remember their name but they dressed in baseball uniforms, the Matlock ones (like this and rich kids) are better. a sadly forgotten and overlooked band.
Awesome tune............ I saw the band in 1978 at Tiffany's in Blackheath, West Midlands at 14 yrs old..............great gig, was brilliant to see Matlock and Midge Ure, I understood the importance even at that tender age. Great band, great gig.

Apart from that talentless twat of a singer this was good group. How predictable was the following 30 years...Matlock reduced to prostituting his talent yet again with Rotten's musical troupe.
Since when did they have that many sites with the lyrics to this song? I spent a good month of my life a while back looking for those lyrics and i looked went EVERYWHERE...
Midge became the later singer for Ultravox, he brought them commercial success, which, perhaps unfortunately for musical originality is our loss, but money counts in the end. Pre Midge Ure Ultravox weren't a half bad band with John Fox (?) on vocals.
it's interesting the use of the word "fabricated" as the sex pistols themselves were a manufactured band. Midge was actually approached by Malcom Mclaren to join the Pistols before he had Johnny Rotten on board..... he didn't even bother to ask if he could play an instrument. As for bandwagon, his other bands,(visage, Ultravox)were actually revolutionary and before their time, inspiring generations of musicians to come.... the guy's a true legend!
absolute class love the rich kids, glen matlock midge ure, brings back great memories of 1978 the revolver show was fantastic, and deserves a dvd release, use to watch this show back then hosted by peter cook was very young at the time, anyway thanks for this.

My mum used to work at EMI Records in Southall.
Bands on the label used to do factory visits.
Rich Kids turned up, seeing their scruffy appearance, mum says 'you don't look very rich to me'.
Midge Ure replied, 'och, we're rich in talent love!'
Kate Bush also, mum mentioned all the 'funny cigarette burns on her dress'.
I was about 12 then, only years later did I realise what they were!
