Next time get a mic you dont have to hold. that mic is holding you back. YOU HAVE A GREAT VOICE. with some tweeking you could sing this like those on Broadway. you have hold some notes and dont jump ahead. However beside those small things you did a great job... A+

@bedlum47o7 Thanks for the comment! I agree! Holding a mic is really terrible when you're doing musical theatre! Usually I don't use one because the acoustics are good enough, or I have a face mic. That was performed in a pop music studio and not an actual theatre. :))

And yes - lots of people have commented about the octave jumps in this song but as you said it had to be changed otherwise it would have been a high pitched shriek! Thank you for your comment! And to answer your question - this was not a staging of the actual musical (this scene usually involves a bunch of kids and is not sung as a solo). This was simply an end of year recital. Ariadna was going through an "Annie" phase and just HAD to sing this song! Mics were used because the background music would have overwhelmed the kids' voices.

She's an alto like me (or at least it sounds like it) and it is harder to get the high notes in this songs so they are just working around her vocal talents and abilities rather than straining her voice especially at such a young age. She is REALLY good!! She's got a future ahead of her if she keeps this up!! Good Luck Ariadna!!!!

You're right.The problem with the high parts such as "we get kicked" is that they sound OK when sung by a group of kids (sort of a collective screech expressing frustration). This song is rarely sung as a solo and we found that the high sections performed by a soloist sound ...er...well..not so great (unless one is a soprano). They also strain the vocal chords. The whole song couldn't be brought down any further so it was decided that it would be best to lower the high parts down one octave!
