According to Foley, that was both the worst and the best chokeslam he'd ever received. Worst because one of his feet never left the cage; best because if Taker had lifted him up any higher he would have landed on his head after falling through the cage, possibly killing him.

Wrestlers like Foley are virtually extinct these days. That man gave it his all, purely for the sake of the fans. While I hold all the Attitude Era wrestlers in high esteem, Foley and Taker are the two I respect the most.

A dislocated left shoulder, bruised kidney, 1 & 1/2 missing teeth, 20 something stiches in his lower lip, he dislocated his jaw, he was knocked out, and got a concussion ... not to mention the thumbtacks .... No pro wrestler today would even attempt to finish a match with a dislocated shoulder ... but Mick Foley did ... hell he climbed the cage a 2nd time, only to be tossed through it and knocked out! He was so severely concussed that he had no memory of the whole enterprise.

It's *scripted*. There's a difference. Fake would imply that nothing about it is real, but these guys do suffer serious injuries, albeit accidentally. They do follow a script, but things, like you said, can go wrong, and the results from those accidents are very real. Foley had asked Calaway to throw him off the cage the first time, but that second fall wasn't meant to happen. The roof simply unexpectantly gave way when Taker chokeslammed Mankind.
