No, there are other reasons. The biggest one being that prisoners learn that if they do assault a guard, they will pay the price of doing so.
This improves the safety of ALL guards.
It also saves the taxpayers of having the inmate tried on additional charges of assaulting a guard in another trial. (Then we'd have all the guards being attacked, so that prisoners could get out to go to their trials!)
I work security in a hospital. I always deal with these hard ass hoes. The guard got jumped he defended himself and gave the guy a taste to his boot on justified grounds. Please cry me a river. I have many times thrown itdiots to the ground. Some guys have met the sold wall a couple of times. You dont take chances with these guys. I have dealt with dangerous situations. Force is not intended it is given on justifed grounds.

The man was handcuffed and outnumbered. That's helpless in my eyes. Plus, if you can't take the pressure, you shouldn't become a CO. There are other ways to punish a person. Solitary confinement, no more visitors etc. I know that if the prisoner did what he did in Russia, or Syria or Congo or many other places in this world, his fate would be far worse. But as always, America is being held to a higher standard.

You think I could let an inmate assault me and not retaliate? That's a green light for assaults on staff. That little elevator incident ain't shit. Punch a NYPD cop in the face and let 5 of his buddies rush you. You think your not gonna taste a little shoe leather. That's called street justice.

You don't mess with CO's. That inmate had an issue with other CO's at the prison, he had a beating coming. Ask any CO or inmate who works in a serious prison, this is how the system works. How are you going to correct a guy serving a life sentence, that just threatened or beat up your partner? Write him up? Yeah OK! he'll laugh at you. You mess with the CO's the CO's WILL win. This inmate wasn't stupid, he knew the consequences for messing with a cop. Every inmate in that prison knew.

No, they have rights, but so do the guards. The guards have a right not to be spit on, manipulated, insulted, their families threatened, pushed, stabbed, kicked. "Guards" don't walk around starting fights. The inmate is the one who took it to the next level. A cocky inmate is the one who gets physical because he thinks the CO wont go there. The INMATE is the one who took it to the level of getting physical by messing with that other guard.

The only reason the guy was arrested in the first place was because he's black. He was delivering presents to a poor family, and cops arrested him because they claimed he stole the presents because he's black. All these high class moral upright African American Men are political prisoners. The sytem is ran by redneck criminals who are causing the gang and drug problems in our society. Just today a redneck cop was selling drugs in front of my home while thumping his stereo.

@MissouriManiac Have you ever worked as a CO? When you have and you have been jumped or stabbed by inmates, then say you shouldnt take an inmate threat seriously. I am a CO and inmates will stab and beat officers, but as soon as an officer touches the inmate, the inmate cries and says they were abused. In the days when COs carried billy clubs and beat inmates, there were not riots and multiple guard killings nor was there a major gang problem. Work as a CO before you talk like you know it all

No, there are other reasons. The biggest one being that prisoners learn that if they do assault a guard, they will pay the price of doing so.
This improves the safety of ALL guards.
It also saves the taxpayers of having the inmate tried on additional charges of assaulting a guard in another trial. (Then we'd have all the guards being attacked, so that prisoners could get out to go to their trials!)

I work security in a hospital. I always deal with these hard ass hoes. The guard got jumped he defended himself and gave the guy a taste to his boot on justified grounds. Please cry me a river. I have many times thrown itdiots to the ground. Some guys have met the sold wall a couple of times. You dont take chances with these guys. I have dealt with dangerous situations. Force is not intended it is given on justifed grounds.
