  • Scherbo is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, no doubt. Those of you complaining that Phelps gets more publicity; remember that Phelps won in a time of digital media, and of course he's going to be a huge focus in the US (since he's an American). I'm quite sure Scherbo is a household name in Russia compared to Phelps. It's just the way it works. But I agree that Vitaly Scherbo is one of the greatest Olympians ever, and his 1992 domination was written about extensively.

  • VITALYS MY COACH I GO TO VSSG

  • He's great alright -- the way he nailed the stutz hand back hand back hand after the two healys and the hop pirouette - he NAILS everything! But if your talking about the greatest gymnast ever, you've got to look at Dimitry Bilozerchev and Tong Fei -- there are so many.

  • Scherbo looks to me like the best gymnast that the world has ever known. He's so precise, constant and beautiful. I used to be a gymnast myself. My jaw drops at his performance.

  • Damien Walters better;x

  • hes fat now if you've seen him.

  • why are all your videos blurry ?

  • vitali shcerba was the real deal

  • That's amazing. This guy must be incredibly strong.

  • wow me pregunto quien ganaria... nemov o scherbo? los dos son una masa!!!

  • It really kills me that an idiot like Michael Phelps gets more recognition than Scherbo. Phelps competed in a sport with obscenely redundant events that allow an individual who is dominant in one or two skills to recycle those skills over and over for multiple gold medals. Scherbo competed in a sport where each event requires distinct skills from the other, and unlike Phelps (who won 3 Golds from relays in 2008), only ONE of Scherbo's golds came from a team performance. Scherbo is better.

  • @DrSandmann

You kow what? I was a swimmer and I had the same thought as you watching this vid. Then I was surprised to read your comment. That is true, gymnastics demands more skills than swimming, but swimming demands a better capacity of your the respiratory system. Well, both of these sports are all right.

  • @DrSandmann Have to say I agree with you. More so than almost any other sport, I'd say that gymnasts have a gift God given, as well as a immense talent.

  • @DrSandmann its because Phelps is American in Russia Chtcherbo is a fat living legend.

  • @DrSandmann Just because Michael Phelps' sport doesn't require distinct skills, doesn't mean it's not difficult. Don't compare sports or people. All sports are awesome, and you shouldn't be comparing a gymnast to a swimmer. They're different sports, and under different circumstances. And I'm sure they both got what they earned for the particular sport they were in.

Some people just happen to pay more attention to swimming than gymnastics, and vice versa. :)

  • @DrSandmann Of course he is, Phelps is a fucking pot head who is a disgrace to his country.

  • @metsdudenj Phelps is a "fucking pot head" who won:

"six gold and two bronze at Athens in 2004, and eight gold at Beijing in 2008, ..... In doing so he has twice equaled the record eight medals of any type at a single Olympics achieved by Soviet gymnast" -Wikipedia

    What a disgrace!

Imagine what we would see on TV if we put a national spotlight on everything you've ever done or will do.

I bet you would become a disgrace to your country.

  • @DrSandmann

cmon, what bullshit you talking. phelps trains in one day harder, than you in your whole life. he is the best because he puts so much hard work in it like scherbo did

  • he is my coach i go to his gym to work for the meet and the last meet was was at a giant holltell it was long it was five hous long but we got first plase

  • I've been to his gym before and met him ;)

  • what a great routine!

  • Comment removed

  • That was an AMAZING routine, but I'm tired of the commentators complaining that there aren't enough 10s. Peter comes from 1984 Olympics when they threw out 10s like candy, deserved or not.

  • I completely agree.

Many of the 10s given out in the years pre-1990s had execution errors that the judges ignored because of the difficulty / originality involved or because they had given previous competitors scores that were too high, and thus left no room for the guys that got 10s.

  • @dd8yf This is true. Now at least there is not cap on what judges can give as a perfect score, so to allow more credit to be given where it's due.

  • he's so hot ; ;

  • @Holycani he weighs like twice as much now days.
