  • may i know the address of this studio?

  • Is the raag khamaj?

  • This raga is even better on the CD version, towards the end when he plays the sitar so smoothly, I believe the last 2 minutes of this raga on the CD version is absolutely amazing tune, just the last 2 minutes, can put you in trance...

  • Kamaal bhai, so gracious of you not to put up the whole song! Mash´Allah, that´s excellent behaviour. Acha kiya.

I just loved this version! Kitna sakoon hai iss mausiqi mein. Jitna bhi sune, dil nahin bharta. And you´re so khushnaseeb to be learning from him and sitting there. Tah-e-dil se shukria upload karne ka aur aik tariqe pe, humein bhi iss mauqe ka hissa banaane mein.

I´m gonna chase and buy this album, next time I go out to my Asian neighbourhood!

    Khush rahein, Wassalaam!

  • The sound quality drops every now and then which is a painful experience.

  • @rogwall

Listen to this song on his CD Hazaron Kwahishein. This is one of his best CD. I still listen everyday, even after almost 3 years.

  • Shujaat Khan stands above, way beyond any musician in the world. He turns ragasand folk music into something incredibly beautiful.A legend. No western music or musican are is equal.

  • is it a complete track?

  • Wah Wah kia baat hai, kia sitar ki rendition aur kia awaz ka jadoo wah wah bhi wah

  • He is realy wonderful !

I visited a concert in the nederland (einhoven) in 1994.

    wonderful !

    May god bless you !

  • Kamal, it is unfair on your part not to part with full audio !!!

  • Simply Beautiful n soothing

  • Wah Kia Batt Hay .Khush Rahoo Ameen.

  • This raga and the shudh kalyan raga are some of the best music on this planet. I know what I am talking about people. I listened to western pop music all my life, and lately i began to realise that certain music inspires you more than others. You can listen to it again and again, perhaps day in day out. It's timeless. I think these two raga's fit that description. I tell all my European friends about Ustad Shujaat Khan's music. Best music in the universe.

    Ramesh

  • I agree, truly a universal genuis!

  • @coconutsage: If Shuddha Klayan moves you so much then, please listen to Bhairavi- the Queen of all Indian Ragas.

  • @coconutsage

So well said Ramesh bhai. This qalaam is so superior, it transcends all boundaries and touches people of all faiths and cultures. Proving its spirituality. Bahot khoob!

And you´re so right about this kind of music, Hindustani classical, is better than all music in this world. Sab ko bhaati hai, sab ko andar se hilaa deti hai.

  • Mashallah. Mola salamt rakhey aap ko.

  • ustad shujaat khan is truly genius. last month only i heard him live at sawai ghandharva festival at pune, india. i have collected all his album and keep listening every day. genius son of a genius father ustad vilayat khan sabib. ravi shankar and his daughter anushka are nothing compare to ustad vilayat khan and his truly talented son ustad shujaat khan. no one sings and plays sitar better then them in the entire world.

  • کیا کحنے بحت خوب

  • What genius!

  • A spell-bounding piece, Khan Sahib is phenomenal in delivering each and every note with perfection, both with the string and the vocal chords. I just hope that the future batch of sitarists and musicians alike will contribute, if not as much, but even half as much as Khan Sahib has contributed to the world of Indian classical music, if that were too happen, then who knows, maybe the world could be a better place! Glad you put this one up Kamal Bhai:D

  • I know Shujat & Ustad Vilayat as I handled their very first tour in the U.S. in the 1970s. we lived together for the entire tour. A friendship that lasted until these past years with the passing of Abba. Later, I brought Shujat to Hawaii to perform concerts here which I promoted. We also recorded and released a live album -late '90s. He has always, even as a teenager had the same romantic, lyrical sweetness to his music. Like his dad, he's always appreciated "nice jeans"

  • you mention that you recorded and released live album. can you please write the detail and advice where they are available. Thanks

  • Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful music of a great young artist like Ustad Shuzaat!

  • The album has been released in India and I don't want to upload copyrighted material. You'll have to wait until it is sold in the US.

  • I don't believe the "1000 desires" album has been released in the US. Can you upload the fully mixed version? Thanks.

  • Pricless...a great kalaam of GREAT Mola by an outstanding performer...Thanks Mr Hyder

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the info Kamal, I've studied sitar a few years in the past myself. I've seen Khansaheb in concert many times and know that you also have occasionally given performances. Maybe I'll catch you on stage sometime, ciao.

  • Yes I am indeed lucky to learn from him. Khansahib still teaches at UCLA. The audio recording of this piece has been released in India under the name "Hazaron Khwahishen" - A Thousand Desires. The audio was how it sounded in the studio and I dubbed some sections from the "Hazaron Khwahishen" album.

  • Beautiful rendition of Man Kunto Maula. Khan saheb is one of my favorite sitarists, Kamal you are lucky to learn from him. I believe he is no longer in LA, I think...does he have a music school in NY?

Also, how can I get the recording of this piece? Can you post it? Except for the overlay, the audio was a bit dubbed...but still enjoyed it, thanks for posting.

  • Shujaat is indeed a good singer & a great sitar player. He choses beautiful poetry to sing and there is something special about his style of playing the sitar. It comes from the heart! I love his playing and you may listen to more of it on my photos site of Shujaat Khan. You can google it with his name & my name. Wait for the media player to open at the bottom. You may need DSL to listen to it in streaming. Of course it is best that you buy your own CD so you may listen on a good CD player.
