  • So who else noticed that he played immigration song by led zeppelin?

  • hes good.. but cliff burton shits on him

  • Trujillo is probably the greatest bassist of our generation. Check out my channel for some original bass covers.

  • @reviewman1444 there is someone's camera in front of his leg.

  • Where his leg in the first pic

  • Steve DiGiorgio ftw

  • What concert was this from?

  • 1:35 zeppelin :D

  • Sick version of Orion there

  • roberts playing is aggressive. funky. one of a kind. Without Rob, Metallica wouldn't have an aggressive bottom end. Metallica made a great choice years ago. Wouldn't trade him for anyone else.

  • good sound!!!

  • No Description Available

  • I like his playing. I just wish he had a clean tone. Distortion w/ a bass guitar just doesn't sound good to my ears.

  • HAHAHA ONE BAD MOTHA BEEP

  • finally a long bass solo by Robert

  • 1:34 emo trujillo xD

  • if you want great bass playing listen to Robs old band Infectious Grooves

  • amazing

  • right over here is one bad motha beeep

  • cliff burton shyts all over of all of every bassist

  • @MetalBoii12345 He can't, he's dead =D

  • @RogerLaLoutre no fukking shit u dam tard...

  • is he playing a primus song

  • i knew flea and rob....they are great.....i didn't knew les claypool and wooten...after many videos i could say that wooten, indeed stits on all of them....but the question is....why noone knows wooten????and all know cliff burton????i think that socrates theory has given us the truth....the truth we all have inside us.....CLIFF SHITS ON OVER US

  • @trasakas Metallica/ Cliff = Metal fans. Wooten = Crazy jazz bass solo fans.

  • hah idiots rob is great...dont see any of u gettin a milli for playin with metallica.....and PRIMUS SUCKS!!! LONG LIVE LES.......

  • Les Claypool has his own very particular thing and he does it very well. I don't think you can compare him to Rob very much.

  • dude i'm better than he is, maybe metallica should hire me

  • @Evan4bass Two words. PROVE IT!

  • Ugh, he's terrible.

  • What the hell? Did he play "immigrant song" from ledzep?

  • zeppelin*

  • LOL!! How can you call that a solo when you are stealing licks from zeppeling and other bands that could actually make their own music?? Just a question is all i have...I didnt hear anything original just meshing different songs and other artists stuff together.

  • this dude is a BEAST!

  • Flea and victor wooten are the best bassist ever

  • il a un sens terrible du rythme, et ça récupère pas mal une certaine pauvreté harmonique.

  • JPJ is better

  • it always annoys me when people diss Metallica and don't back up with any concrete arguments.

frankly, they are still very good!

  • 24 dislikes? 24 deafs

  • timmie c, robbie t and flea. (rage, met and rchp) and newstead, even if his name dosnt rime

  • but none of all of these dudes mentioned under has the badass look of RobbieT! i mean DAMN! dude looks like he is going to fuck you up! fantastic!

  • damn dude has great slapping

  • thanks for the upload \m/

  • this solo sounds simple to me, if you compare to cliffs or even jasons solos they were way more complicated and sounded better

  • @HUCKEBUCKE I never heard Cliff use slap technique, however. They have different styles, there's no comparison.

  • @HUCKEBUCKE Not to shit on Jason, because the guy's heart was always in it, but he tended to be prone to what I like to call spacebass. Lots of spacey echo effects. I like Jason, but I think, notice I said "I THINK" that Rob is much better at than Jason technically speaking.

  • for whom the bells tools live

    rob super bass solo..

  • This video is one kick ass, bad MOTHER *BEEP*

  • Comment removed

  • I have to say Mark King

  • 3:19 thats from when he was in Infectious Grooves, the end of the song ''Punk it Up''

  • ha!! i got myself a WARWICK bass like Rob's. even Rob uses WARWICK. now all i gotta do is practice and surpass him.. lol :D

  • @jammer88jijoe Indeed, he uses Warwick basses and got his own signature model. But it's weird that Fernandes Gravity Deluxe bass guitars are still his main bass guitars...

  • at 2min and 40 sec it gets fucking crazy

  • 4:25

    ORION!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Flea and Rob,but lets face it, Les Claypool shits all over both of them!

  • @gkjh9519HD and Les can't hold a candle to guys like Victor Wooten and Stu Hamm so what's your point?

  • @kingofthestoneage5 I watched a Victor Wooten video and it blew me away

  • @gkjh9519HD Victor Wooten shits on all 3 of them hahahaha ;)

  • @MrEddie2861 Victor Wooten? you mean Paul McCartney

  • @zeromant80 YeaH Yeah sure sure.... go see Victor Wooten`s skills and technique, He let`s you like this :O

  • @MrEddie2861 Victor is good dude, but not that much

  • @zeromant80 ya that much

  • @zeromant80 are you serious? easily the best bassist period. show me a better bassist. crack head.

  • @slapthatbass97 first of all, i've never, ever insulted you slapthatbass97, so don't insult me. ok? You must be 14 or something... now, a better bassist, Paul McCartney, not the best but he is better. Playing bass is not about being faster or having an amazing speed. Listen to Dear Prudence, or Come Together, maybe Hey Bulldog... just to name a few.

  • @zeromant80 if your stuck in the 60s and 70s maybe. Welcome to 2011. Yes he plays fast but he has more feeling than other any bassist out there. Hes revolutionizing the instrument with his techniques and making it into a lead instrument but still manages to keep the groove and rhythm while. Musicians who can communicate with other musicians the way he can, brings music to a different level. I love the oldies but its old. Make way for the new.

  • @zeromant80 yeah the arguement of best goes on forever.. when talking about technical ability there is no real winner any fat fuck who sits on his ass for hours with any instrument can master it.. what narrows it down would be the sound and originality that actually comes from the instrument.. in this case paul maccartney is the winner in my opinion.. just thinkin about dear prudence and come together.. dammnn.. victor wooten is amazing though

  • @zeromant80 you are joking right? you are kidding correct? wooten would destroy mccartney

  • @morzan383 Nope. im not saying victor wooten sux. he's got MAD SKILLS... but Paul has his thing u know? even wooten said paul was his inspiration... i like both of them

  • @zeromant80 alright i can accept that XD

  • @MrEddie2861 steve harris. nuff said

  • @MrEddie2861 You`re right

  • @MrEddie2861 Dude, Victor is good and all. But Wtf, he just slaps and plucks random ass notes really fast & makes it sound good, Robert knows this shit.

  • @panterask8r14 ......................you sir, know nothing.......victor wooten know 3x the amount of music theory as Rob, and is one of the best jazz bassists ive heard.... next thing your going to try and tell me "jaco pastorius sucked".....i find your comment offensive

  • @NoRaces Lol indeed that was a rather ignorant comment, but not for your reasoning. First off, everyone has different styles in bass, (overall Music as far as that goes); so with that alone being said, there's no "best bass player in the world".

And secondly... I cannot stand Victors style. Makes me wanna smash my bass & go be a Bieber fan-boy.

  • @panterask8r14 Well whatever you do, don't do that. But I believe you are correct. All those who say that so and so is the best in the world are opinionated. they are tuned to a style and they prefer that style over any others. and @NoRaces... no need to start a music war over Metallica. We all know the only great one is James. Kirk may have skill, but not much ability. Rob is an amazing bassist, but lacks passion and feeling a lot of the time. And lars is lars... a hairless monkey at drums.

  • @gkjh9519HD and then victor wooten chits over les claypool

  • @gkjh9519HD agreed!

  • @gkjh9519HD, Stu Hamm and Victor Wooten shit all over Claypool, Rob, Flea and Cliff Burton. Let's face it.

  • @gkjh9519HD **Jackass implying that Robert Trujillo and Les Claypool are in the same realm of musical knowledge that Flea is in. Trujillo < Claypool (by far) <<<< Balzary

  • @gkjh9519HD Cliff? Jaco?

  • @gkjh9519HD and so does Stanley Clarke....

  • lol at people who ask for thumbs up

  • Rob looks like he could star in The Planet of The Apes

  • fucking sick!

  • My top 5 Bassists of all time -

    1. Robert Trujillo

    2. Johnny Christ

    3. Fieldy

    4. John Paul Jones

    5. Shavo Odadjian.

You may well disagree with me, but as a bassist myself I think they all rock.

  • @Decnshizzz

I would put Cliff in that list, but you got good taste :)

  • @C0reyTaylor8 fair enough, cliff was incredible. But it was hard to narrow it down to my top 5. Thanks man.

  • @Decnshizzz yes

  • @Decnshizzz u havent been playing for a long time , did you? :D

  • gay bassist. > GO see Jaco Pastorius Solo.

  • how about a vid of him actually playing this?

  • nada de robert.. que carajo....

  • where was it performed?

  • y isnt there an actual video for this?

  • ele é bom mais nunca sera igual cliff burton

  • THUMBS UP FOR 0 dislikes .. one of the best bass players ever!!!

  • @risingforce121

    there are dislikes now

  • @risingforce121 soooo not dude

  • @risingforce121 You obviously don't play bass.

  • @ 0:30 it looks like he just laid a major fart

  • Funkcore Music Bass!! Awesome Trujillo love the Slapbass ;)

  • no description available, no discription possible

  • yeah, this is a bass solo, but it isn't that good, i like metallica, but if you talk about bassists, i prefer flea, jaco pastorius, victor wooten, billy sheehan, les claypool, paul mccartney, there are a lot of diferent kinds of bassists who are better than rob!

  • @zeverus22 Then again, Robert Trujillo isn't needed for this, they do this more as tradition for when Cliff did it and Jason too, to lead up to For Who the Bell Tolls.

Metallica has ALWAYS been about the Guitar solos as solos go, notice the lack of Bass solos after Cliff's death.

Robert can keep time and please the crowd acting like a monkey which is why he is the bassist, plus he still has got technique, but not as bassists go, if you get me.

  • @Goldendroid totally agree with you...

  • stop that bulshit none of you play whit metallica

  • @GiveInToMetal You play guitar, therefore I don't think you're qualified to make judgements about bassists (And if you do play bass, you most likely started out on guitar. I think that guitarists who learn play bass have a very different mindset about bass than people who start on bass, which is where I started). Also, you're biased by your preference of metal over funk. I like both, so I'm not biased.

Rob is good, and so is Flea. Why does one have to be labeled as "better"?

  • @GiveInToMetal Yes, I play bass. In fact, I'm probably going to post a few covers soon.

  • someone go look up the band infectious grooves. rob can play funk. who gives a shit who's "better" at providing badass bass? enjoy it, fools.

  • @squeezmunky hahahaha rob? funk?? hahahahaha if somebody can really play funk thats flea, he can do anything if you talk about funk, but rob doesn't play funk he just play metal, and do shitty solos.

  • @zeverus22 seriously: search "infectious grooves." you'll sound less ignorant.

  • @squeezmunky i've searched for it, and thats not funk man, that's a shitty attempt to do it, thats not funk, search for real funk like chic - good times or patrice rushen - forget me nots, or funk rock like chili peppers or deep kick, those are badass basslines! so shut the fuck up...

  • @zeverus22 Chic and Patrice Rushen were disco artists but nice try!

  • @zeverus22 isnt deep kick that one guys band who did rhcp covers?

  • @MrLuckybeast13 yeah, but now they play their own songs :D their bassist is motherf***ing awesome!

  • @zeverus22 Infectios Grooves!!! FUNK!!!! ;)

  • @JuanZitto no, its a shitty attempt at funk...

  • Comment removed

  • @GiveInToMetal Nobody does everything. Go look up Les Claypool. Go look up Gustavo Dal Farra, John Myung, and Victor Wooten. I'm sure that Rob is better at some things than some people, but there are just as many who are better than him at other things.

Also, he needs to clean up his technique. He sounds like he's trying to strangle the bass from 3:23 to 3:48

  • flea is so overrated.. look at this guy.. he is truly a god.. he hardly recieved any notice before joining Metallica.. I am so glad he joined he totally suits the band, and has helped them go to a totally another level

  • @develia Flea's not overrated, he's a great bassist, one of the best in all honesty.

Robert Trujillo is great aswell, but sorry - not in the same level. :|

  • @tomasvtk flea is epic overrated.. can he do anything besides a pop-slap? look at Rob he plays like a fucking maniac, he can slap like a maniac, i mean yes slapping ok, but cliff was the god in fingerpicking like a lead guitarist rather than slapping, and Rob does that so easily.. he's clearly better than flea

  • @develia lol? seems that you don't know much about Flea's playing then, and you're one sided - no point in arguing with someone like that. Bye bye, get your facts straight first, before saying anything. (Meaning that you should look up why Flea is considered one of the best bassists)

  • @tomasvtk Flea aint shit. Geddy Lee is THE MASTER. Flea couldn't even ATTEMPT a Geddy Lee bass line.

  • @tomdabom007 One sided. Go read about why Flea is considered one of the best bassists, then come back.

  • @tomdabom007 And Geddy Lee couldn't attempt a Flea bassline. Jesus Christ, can people stop arguing about who's better and just enjoy the goddamn music?

  • @develia Yes flea can do a lot more than slapping and popping. He is extremely good at fingerstyle, however he doesn't like picks so he does not use them. He can even play on the high frets on the top strings and sing along because he knows the exact notes and pitch of every fret. Flea also plays like a maniac, just in a funky way, not a metal way. To be honest I think that since they play for two completely different genres (Flea plays funk, Rob plays metal) so you can't compare them.

  • @Iliketacos091 sure rob didnt always play metal he used to play funk back in his infectious grooves days and in my opinion he is muuuuuuch better then flea then

  • @Iliketacos091 You clearly don't know infectious grooves..

  • @Iliketacos091 Flea from red hot chili peppers?

  • @zombislayerpwnsnoobs Do you live under a rock? jk. yes, that Flea.

  • @Iliketacos091 What you're saying is true, but Rob can also play quite funky. Try watching him play on the song Punk It Up by Infectious Grooves :)

  • @develia So, in short both are good, but you can't really compare since Flea doesn't do metal and Rob doesn't do funk.

  • @develia Sorry mate, I understand you may like Robert more, but they aren't in the same league at ALL. Flea is technically superior to Robert. Flea doesn't pick, because he can fingerpick anything that any other bassist could pick.

  • @pfcguzzo ookk i just saw what a big argument started here when people commented to me and others commented on them :P. Yes i agree i was narrow minded/drunk when i posted this. Flea is awesome yes, now that i m more acquainted to his stuff. But that does not make Rob an inferior in anyways whatsoever. I think they both have their prowess over the bass Gee-tarrrr and are two uniquely fun people to watch when they play and even more fun to hear them. Respect to both the guys with inhuman fingers.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry, but if someone is overrated thats trujillo

  • @develia you dont know what you're talking about kid, . .flea is a great bassist, and his knowledge on the bass is so diverse, . .though i like robert trujillo too, especially in his funky infectious grooves days. . .

  • He definitely is one bad mother beeeeeeeeep.

  • @thelegendoflink52 he's a badass motherplucker on the four string motherfucker

  • 04:25 is the solo of my life...

  • How come this doesnt have more views?

    Epic solo!

  • @dgoncalo because he is not Flea

  • @nate61177 i agree with you, only flea can do a really epic bad ass solo!!
